Destroy all other Rabbits to conquer the post-apocalyptic bunny world!
Build the best arsenal of weapons for the current landscape, then make your move and tactically choose whether to use Roger's Rocket or Grenade of Bigwig to attack your opponents and become the ultimate Death Rabbit!
If you like 90s turn-based artillery computer games such as Scorched Earth and Worms, you'll love Death Rabbits!
With bold artwork and incorporating a balance of luck and strategy, Death Rabbits provides some tongue-in-cheek fun as you manoeuvre your team of bunnies across the landscape, trying to destroy your opponents whilst simultaneously avoiding their attacks. Acquire special powers for your Rabbits at key points in the game to improve your chances, but make sure you choose your weapons carefully as the landscape varies from game to game!
About Death Rabbits
Death Rabbits loosely draws influence from old style turn-based artillery computer games such as Scorched Earth and Worms, incorporating a move, attack, defend mechanism along with concepts such as weapon range, line of sight and area of effect. Combine this with bold artwork and four teams of three stand-up rabbits and you have a lot of fun for you and your fellow gamers.
The game is made especially interesting by having the playing board made up of a landscape of six different pieces drawn from a total of eight for each game and placed in a random order. This means that your choice of which weapons to hold and which to discard may be affected by the particular landscape for each game. This adds considerable variety to gameplay, ensuring that you won't get bored anytime soon!
Death Rabbits is suitable for ages 12 upwards and lasts approximately 30 minutes per game. Special Booster Cards acquired midway through gameplay give your team of Rabbits additional powers that enhance either their attack, defend or move abilities.
How to play Death Rabbits
Death Rabbits is simple to play but still has some amount of strategy involved. We think it's a similar weight to games such as Colt Express and King of Tokyo.
In summary, each turn consists of the following stages.
1. Move your Rabbit up to one space in either direction, including up or down from one of the raised buildings. Try to put yourself in a better position to attack other Rabbits, or perhaps in a position of safety from future onslaughts!
2. Select your weapon and nominate your area of attack. Each player starts with 3 weapon cards and can select one of them to attack other Rabbits. Just make sure you have the right range and potentially line of sight to the Rabbits you want to attack!
3. Inflict damage. Your chosen weapon will inflict damage upon one or more spaces, reducing the health of the Rabbits on these spaces unless they can use their defence cards to reduce the damage. Gain extra health points if you manage to kill another Rabbit!
4. Swap a weapon. Plan ahead by discarding less useful weapons and try to build a more effective arsenal for the current game situation.
5. Build your defence. Draw the top two defence cards, retain your favourite and return the other one to the top of the pile. Will you keep a good spread of defence cards, stockpile one particular type, or try to deprive the following player of a card they really need?
Make the most of your opportunity to select one of five Booster Cards when it comes along, as these enhance the attacking or defensive capabilities of your Rabbits. Choose the best one to suit your team in it's current situation.
The strategy for Death Rabbits is interesting because all the weapon cards that are in play are laid face up on the table for all players to see. Defence cards are retained in your hand and hence are not known. Will you spend your defence cards early in the game? Or will you sacrifice one of your Rabbits and save them for later? Use them wisely to avoid becoming Rabbit Pie!
We've made a little video below which will give you some basic details on how to play and for those of you who want to know even more, you can visit our Facebook page to view the full rules.
What you get
The game ships complete with the following components
- 8 Landscape Boards
- 3 3D Punchboard Buildings
- 12 Death Rabbits and stands
- 24 Weapon Cards
- 24 Defence Cards
- 5 Booster Cards
- 24 Rabbit Placement Cards
- 4 Health Trackers

Please note that the game used for the videos and photos in this Kickstarter campaign is a prototype only and final components (especially the Rabbits and Buildings) will be of significantly higher quality.
The Landscape Boards are printed on rigid board and sit side-by-side to form a different landscape each time the game is played. The Death Rabbit characters will be printed on high quality punchboard and come in teams of three, each sitting in their own stand to give the game a 3D feel (think King of Tokyo style pieces but slightly smaller).
All cards are to be printed on high quality 300gsm card stock. The Weapon, Defence and Booster cards are all standard sized for easy sleeving.
See if you can spot the references in the weapon cards!
The Health Tracker Counters and Turn Markers will be printed on high quality punchboard, but we hope to upgrade these to awesome wooden counters (see the Stretch Goals below).
We've also included three 3-dimensional buildings that the Death Rabbits can sit on top of. This really enhances the concept of Line of Sight in the game, making it easier to attack other Rabbits, but also making you more of a target ;)
Death Rabbits was created by Anthony Wood and Chris Marley. Anthony is co-founder of Hippoprint, the UK's first guaranteed next day print service and was once Young British Inventor of the Year, whilst Chris is a Guinness World Record Breaking juggler (yes, really...) and former University lecturer in Statistics! Death Rabbits is their second game, having first tested the Kickstarter water in 2016 with the successfully funded card game Monkey Butt, which is now available in over 100 outlets worldwide.
We've tried to price Death Rabbits as sensibly as possible and believe that a contribution of £26 represents good value for a game of this size and quality. We'd massively appreciate your help in getting it off the ground and hope to be able to include lots of extra value for you by achieving the initial time-related stretch goal and hopefully others along the way. As we're based in the UK, we are in the fortunate position of being able to offer free shipping to all our UK backers. Unless the game is especially successful, due to our current distribution channels, it is unlikely to be widely available in the USA or elsewhere outside of the UK, so this may be the only chance for many of our international friends to get their hands on this game!
Look at all the Rabbit fun you can get! Too much choice can be overwhelming, so we've tried to keep our rewards simple and to offer the best value possible for our backers. All unlocked stretch goals are included for all reward levels.

Risks and challenges
Having already completed one Kickstarter project ahead of schedule, we know what it takes to ensure the whole process runs smoothly. Anthony's knowledge of the print & design industry has massively simplified the process of design & manufacturing and the pre-production files are currently 90% complete and counting!
We have manufacturer quotes and have identified fulfilment centres in various locations who can distribute the game worldwide & in a timely fashion.
As with any project, there is always the possibility for unforseen delays but we are confident that we can deal with anything from just meeting target to massively exceeding it without applying too much stress to the delivery date, which in itself already has some buffer built in.
The game has been playtested with several groups, including some playing directly from the rule book to ensure that the game mechanics operate effectively and the rule book is interpretable. We want people to have as much fun playing Death Rabbits as we did creating it!
We'll be keeping you informed via updates every step of the way but if you have any questions, comments, or feedback, we'd love to hear from you in the comments, via Kickstarter message or via our Facebook page.Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
