We’re heads down, cranking on the manufacturing of your new gear. Of course, it wouldn’t be fun if it was easy.

So instead...our lens partner is stressed about how many anamorphic lenses we need to make, our metal partner is saying the rotating interface is really hard to produce, and the firmware for the battery photo case is the missing piece for an important production build next week. But this is the type of thing we go through pretty much every time we make new products. So as always, we’re hammering through it and continuing to move forward. Gotta stay positive!

If companies actually shared all the oh $%^# moments a new product goes through, no one would buy anything. We’ll be sure to only share the gnarliest stories for you so by the time it arrives you can share in the joy of the product actually arriving.

Thank you to the 1000 people who hung out with us on our Kickstarter Live. Tons of great questions about the gear, using it, and producing it. In case you missed it you can replay the episode here.

GNARBOX 2.0 SSD – Rugged backup device for your camera

We’ve been a fan of Gnarbox 1.0 and their 2.0 version is even better. It’s a more rugged, backup device for content creators who prefer to travel without a laptop. It’s different from other portable hard drives because of the apps they have made to make your workflow easier. They offer a single step backup, dedicated workspaces, and access to professional editing software. We’ve found that their gear saves you time and increases portability.

International Taxes

Now posted in all four updates, please don’t be the backer who yells at us after because your country charges import fees. We don’t like them either.

We really, wish that Kickstarter made this easier. We aren’t a fan of international taxes but we also aren’t one to get around the rules. When the campaign is over, we’ll send out your Kickstarter surveys where you will enter your shipping details. Depending on what you have in your cart and where it’s shipping, we will calculate the import fees required for that country and charge you for them.

A long story short but we tried a lot of combinations to charge this upfront with the pledge but it was just impossible. So we just want to give you a heads up now, if you hate import fees like us and want to bail on the project we don’t blame you. We’d rather you get mad at us now then when we’re ready to ship.

@David - How Kickstarter works is we'll send you a survey after the campaign for you to make all of your device and color selections as well as any add-ons you'd like to make with a one-time 20% off discount. We'll also collect all of your shipping information at that point as well.

With regards to shipping, I did not see any forms for filling in my address? Any ideas?

@Andrew - Thanks! Right now it's looking more like the last half of June for the first batch, so don't want to get your hopes. But we're definitely working as hard as we can to move these along!

@Greg - The Battery Case firmware does not affect using of the lenses, that's purely related to the shutter button and charging function on the Battery Case. The firmware for the iPhone X and iPhone 8/7 cases will be slightly different since the iPhone X has a few more features than the existing Battery Cases on our shop.

Best of luck to your team with the manufacturing process. I am hoping to receive the lens in the first week of June so I can use it for video at E3.

Look forward to receiving my anamorphic lens.
Question you mentioned in an update email tgere were issues that you were resolving re the firmware for the battery case for the anamorphic lens , i gather this is for the iphone X. I have ordered the 7+ battery case for the anamorphic lens so gather i will have to update the firmware of the 7+ battery case to suit the lens when i get it. Or is it just the iphone x firmware you are reffering to and regardless of which lens you put on the 7+ battery case the existing firmware is ok.
