Update #9 - Art, AMA

Posted by The Molasses Flood (Creator)

Hi Friends,

We’ve got a couple things to share today. Some news, a new tier, a look at some art, and a couple projects worth checking out.

First off, news! We’re doing an AMA on the /games subreddit this Wednesday at 3 PM EST. We’ll send out a reminder and link before we begin.

We’re also introducing a new tier! Many people have shown interest in the art behind the game, so we wanted to give a collector or art enthusiast a chance to get an original piece by Scott Sinclair (Sinc). In addition to being an accomplished art director, Sinc is a painter and illustrator. We’re offering one backer a chance to get a piece made by Sinc while helping back our project. It’s the Connoisseur Tier, and costs $2500. For that, you will get everything up to the $500 level, and an original 12x12 acrylic painting, thematically related to the game.

We’ve also put together a blog post to showcase some of his work, including new images from the game as he works to refine the direction, and a look at some of his other work.

Here’s a look at a couple images from the post:

We also wanted to point out a couple other projects you may like.

First is Black the Fall. It reminds us of a sort of “action Limbo”, with shades of classics like Flashback and Another World. The team could use a little help in the final days of their Kickstarter, so check them out here.

Second, Impact Winter looks like it scratches a lot of similar itches as The Flame in the Flood. Very different art style, different part of the world, but it looks like we share a lot of the same DNA. You can check out their page here.

Thanks so much everyone! Check out the blog, keep an eye out for the AMA, and stay tuned for more content in future updates.

      @Justin - looks like you're asking about the $250 tier :)

      In the future, we may offer prints after the Kickstarter, but some people really value getting a unique original.

      You guys might consider screen printing some artwork rather than an original piece from Scott Sinclair. I collect prints so I'm definitely biased but I always thought they were better than original works. The artist (or in this case, the project) can potentially make more money with a large enough run, and the art collector gets a somewhat original and still really awesome piece of artwork without having to pony up a month's paycheck.
