What is Burlesque (please review video sample):
How it all Began: In March of 2012, I was at home on a Friday night making it a movie night: Just me, and my favorite little man in the world "Mojo Wojo Snicker-Doodle" (My yorkshire terrier/Hence the name of show). As I was laying across the bed about to fall asleep I thought to watch one last movie that was about to come on television which was titled, "Burlesque", starring Christina Aguilerra, and Cher.
Well, to make a long story short, I thought to myself, "It would be Sooooooo Awesome if Atlanta could have a venue like that!!!" Although not a dancer myself, I thought if not for me; then for those that really do have the gift of dance and performance. And that's when the adrenaline began to pump in my veins! : )
I suddenly developed this huge ball of excitement and energy within me as I imagined all the possibilities of providing a platform for a Burlesque show of this Caliber!
At the drawing board: I began researching others that may have already elicited the idea of a Burlesque dance troupe in Atlanta, and found two other groups who only performed for certain celebrations (the troupes lacked character, finesse, zeal, and skill). I thought of the name Mojo because of my Yorkie, and of the idea behind the name Mojo: To get someone's wheels turning, to excite; and there Borns the name: Mojo Burlesque. I began mapping out and weighing the pros and cons of having this form of entertainment, and all signs pointed upward! : )
The Search: I created advertising ads on Craigslist, and my personal social networking sites such as Instagram, facebook, and Modelmayham. I set up an initial dance audition in hopes of finding the right girls for the debut show; but attempts failed in regards to talent! (Disappointing music: whomm whomm Whooooooooooooom) But, NEVERTHELESS, the search continues!
Networking: Despite the failed attempt to cast female dancers at the VERY FIRST audition; I continued reaching out to all my industry contacts I thought could help with the process. From restaurant and club owners, producers, radio personalities, musicians, and artists; but all were limited on dancers they could relay the message to. I reached out to a GREAT contact whom contracts with movie studios here in Atlanta...In a matter of minutes in sending him an email, he wrote back with a person of whom to contact regarding Marketing/PR. Other attempts included 1 other talent agency and a dance studio...Which all stated that dancers were already under management, and work very exclusively.
The Praise: With all the people I've contacted in regards to the possibility of a Burlesque style showcase; all believe in the possibility of GREATNESS!!! Thus far, everyone I've spoken with in asking if this would be a show they'd attend they enthusiastically exclaim "YES, how awesome that would be!"
Finally- The Dream: My dream for the Mojo Burlesque performance teaser Show, is to present an awesome form of entertainment lost sense the 1950's; however, I desire to bring it back full circle, but with twists and turns at every blink of an eye. It's not often that people get to see a show of this caliber unless they can afford a trip to Vegas, then the purchasing of an expensive ticket in order to see a show! However, with the Mojo Burlesque; the people of Atlanta and surrounding cities; get to enjoy VEGAS STYLE ENTERTAINMENT IN ATLANTA! This form of entertainment is not only fun and entertaining for the fans; but this performance will allow gifted dancers to demonstrate their craft for the world to see! It's rare that dancers are afforded the opportunity to exercise their craft unless booked for a hit TV dance show, or music video; however, being able to perform in a Mojo Burlesque show helps them exercise their dream on a huge platform; that can and will eventually give way to more and more performances as the popularity of the Mojo Burlesque builds.
The plan: Is to have 7 women between the ages of 21-35, (Comedic time filler), and 2 aerial silk artists whom are truly talented, gifted, skilled, and experienced in the art form of dance with backgrounds in ballet, modern, tease, hip-hop, tap, and even jazz. The venue space of preference is a place called 200 Peachtree st.; which is a very popular and upscale venue used by many of Atlanta's own celebrities.

Risks and challenges
Unique challenges after my project is successfully funded are the serving of alcohol and the serving of food. Many of the venues I checked had many stipulations in these cases. The W Hotel does not allow guests to order food off of their menu for another event. Furthermore, finding a place where lighting is already offered isn't difficult; however, the cost to have crew members work the lighting that is offered is Very expensive; but is needed for the show. Moreover, trick lighting is needed in order to keep with the theme of the performance; which is even more pricy.
Also, finding the right choreographer to partner with me in choreographing the dances is tricky because the style of dances are exquisite, with synchronized movements, tricks, and acrobatic ensembles; therefore, a very skilled choreographer is needed in order to pull off the success of the show. The point is to deliver such an intriguing performance that people ask for it again and again.Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
