Hello gumshoes! SO MUCH has happened in just the past two months. We’ve been working non-stop, so I’m going to be brief and just describe the very high level of the 10,000 things we did.
THE GOOD NEWS
- We knocked out art, animation, code, and even some sound design for several scenes.
- We implemented the full pause and menu systems
- We built the sound system, complete with smart switching music looper system.
- And, last, but not least, we hit a pretty big milestone. So today, we are sending out keys for...
THE BETA TEST!
Today we are sending out the private beta, so if you were at the $45+ backer level you should receive a message with your Steam key and beta info. Please be sure to fill out the survey after playing the game ( or if for some reason it doesn’t work at all for you )! And if you don't see the email, be sure to check your junk in case it got filtered out.
THE BAD NEWS
My mom passed away just a few weeks ago after several years of struggling with dementia and other health issues. I have been working so much I haven’t had much time to process her passing. It’s something that we’ve known was coming for several years, but it doesn’t make it any less hard.
I’m going to be dedicating the game to her, as she was a huge influence in my life and was incredibly supportive in my development as an artist. The premise of our game is a big spooky mystery, but the heart of the story is about relationships. In particular, the relationship between Jenny and her mom, which is a strong, stubborn bond. I’ve drawn from my relationship with my mom for these characters, and she would have it no other way.
She is already deeply missed.
So to bring things back to a slightly lighter place, here’s a slew of new content from the progress we’ve made in the past two months!
SO WHAT’S NEXT?
There’s still quite a few scenes to finish, particularly the ending scenes. There’s a few big conversations that we need to finalized writing for. Lots of playtesting, polishing, and much sound design remains.
I'm going to take a week off around Christmas to spend time with my family and process a bit, but otherwise we are full sprint into the home stretch. We also have a big announcement coming next week, as we will be sharing a new trailer of the game on the Kinda Funny Games Showcase ( Saturday December 8th ). So keep an eye out! =]
