In The Last Breath, we play as Helen, a woman who after having suffered a terrible accident partially lost her memory.

The story takes place in Asphar town, a fishing village located near Lake Asphar (hence its name). This is a pretty quiet town, with a very small population and where travelers prefer not to stay long time since it does not offer much.

Town go unnoticed so some celebrities take advantage of their anonymity to hide from the press and social life, but this does not happen often. Asphar Town has never been the target of scandals or crimes, but it harbors a number of mysteries that the locals prefer not to talk about. The last mystery is the disappearance of several women. The police have not ruled on the matter, but the press has been in charge of investigating what happened and tries to make its readers understand that the police are probably covering up what happened but have no proof of it.  

Helen is moving to a new house, since the place where they lived with her husband before her accident suffered a fire, but Helen does not remember this. Their only source to understand what happened is the local newspapers and radio stations. In her new house, Helen starts having strange dreams and visions that torment her and make her want to know if they have something to do with her accident. This is when she turns to a specialist who will practice on her a series of regressions through hypnosis and discover what is happening around her, but discovers that the cause of her accident contains a line of frightening events that put her life at risk and the town where she lives.

WE WANT 2 BE A GAME 98.9% FREE OF JUMPSCARES !!!


The last breath is a third person (mixed with fixed camera angles) survival horror game with thriller elements.  We are obsessed with realism, that's why we aim to develop a game with the most realistic aesthetics posible reflected on a detailed and scary environment, realism in characters design and realism in their movements and expressions.

We want to develop a whole detailed universe as posible to give the player a different experience. For that, we are planning many things, one of them is to create some in-game brands and media content to give richness to the concept of our universe. 


We really love movies and videogames and our main intention is to make something perfectly balanced between them, so, we really want to tell a great history full of suspense and true psychologIcal horror, not the typical "jump scare" game. Even so, there will be some times when the player is so focused on the game that any alteration in the environment can cause him to jump from his chair, but we really want a game free of jump scares, because we know that this kind of games are turning into boring and predictable games, and we don't want it for our players because thats not the essence of a true horror or survival game and also because if in the future we plan to develop a second part of the game, we want the players really looking forward to play it.


The mechanics of the game consists in driving the character through the different scenarios, achieving progress by overcoming obstacles and solving puzzles. Collecting pieces, weapons, keys and other elements are what will allow the character to advance in the story but we want as well to introduce new simple mechanics while the player advance in the game so the gameplay don't get repetitive. 


We want the player feeling the necessity to discover the truth around the Helen´s story. As big fans of graphic adventures classics games or "Point and Click" genre, we put some of this on the game. Also, sagas like "Silent Hill" are a very important influence for us. We can call this game like a horror interactive police novel, or something like that, but we take that concept and create our own video game genre called "Third Person Thriller" :)

The character will have a simple inventory in which you can manage the items she collects during the process, but the idea is that it is not a very complex system, focusing more on the gameplay than the inventory management.

Helen must also avoid enemies or fight with them. If the decision is to avoid, it will have a movement system that will allow you to hide behind elements or surfaces in the environment. If you decide to fight, she will have a firearm or melee system to face the threats that surround her. But remember, this game is a survival type, so the resources will be very limited.

It will be better to avoid some enemies, since not doing so could attract more of them and make it harder for the player to advance through one level. 


Helen will also have access to different documents that will allow her to understand deeper about how events are connected.

Environment

We want to maintain something characteristic of the classic survival horror and it is the fact that we can develop the story in different scenarios, not just a very extensive one. For this we have thought of different locations that go according to the story, so the game will be more visually dynamic.

We are planning to launch the game for PC on the Epic Store and Steam, but if we reach the respective goal we will launch the game for PS4 and Xbox One.

Hello, my name is Thomas Valdieri, I am the director and creator of this project.

28 years ago I had my first contact with video games. My father gave me my first portable console when I was 4 years old, a Nintendo gameboy with a Super Mario bros game. From that moment I knew that I loved videogames, so much so that my parents had to take it away from me so that I could dedicate my time to other things, you know.

I was growing and with that passion. As a child, I sometimes stopped to think "what if I could create a video game like it would be?"

I remember taking a notebook and a pencil with me everywhere. When I went to church with my parents, while the pastor gave the sermon, I drew levels of games in my notebook and imagined a character jumping the platforms and navigating the dangers.

When I was in high school, I bought videogame magazines and exchanged them with friends. It was our way of living, of learning, of having fun. We used to meet at a friend's house to play with the PS1 titles like RE2, Tekken, Parappa the raper and Metal gear solid (My favorite forever).

We also asked each other "How would a video game made by us?", and we began to imagine our own horror video game, which during the time were quite popular. I remember we would call it "The Lake" HAHA, it was quite fun.

Later on, when I finished university, I got to know the CGI world and began to study it without rest. I learned about creation and modeling, about animation, lighting, texturing, 2D and 3D composition, etc. Every day I wanted to learn more and more and my head was willing to receive all this information (It still does). During this stage of my life all this knoledge about music, literature, cinema and videogames were my great passion. It was my breakfast and my dinner. But change that passion for a much better one: Be a father.

I was learned to teach my son about my passions and teach him that the only thing that keeps us alive is to dream. And that's when I remembered, "What if I continue with my dream?" And he appeared before me, my 4-year-old self, with that notebook and that pencil sitting in the church designing 2D platform levels. I looked into his eyes and said: C'mon buddy, Let's do this for real.

That is why I´m here in front of you, because I want to continue with this passion, but I need your help to be able to take this big step, which I am sure will be the first of many more, you know.

My proposal is a thriller video game called "The Last Breath". I am inclined to this genre because I love telling stories. Literature and film allowed me to learn how to tell a story and mixing this with the development of a videogame I think it makes it much more interesting.

Why “The Last Breath”? I decided to name it that because at this point in my life I had to make a decision. The decision to get a job or dedicate myself to my own projects. I remembered that story from the Final Fantasy video game and the story behind his name. So I thought "I must decide now and I can not go wrong, for me, for my wife and for my son, this is my last chance to do what I would like to do ... this is my Last Breath", and from there the name was born of the game, of the desire to want to get ahead with a single opportunity to fail or achieve success.

Finally, If you got here, let me thank you for taking the time to read a little more about me and thank you because if you got here it is because my project interests you and you decided to know everything about it. A big hug for you and I hope you can support this dream.

Risks and challenges

We would like to believe that there is no risk, but that there can be. Like any development plan in life, these can vary on the go. If someone tells you otherwise they are lying to you, because even the biggest companies have problems in their developments.

We sincerely believe that one of the biggest risks is that the development takes a little more time than planned, but we try to adjust our entire agenda so that it is not.

Our main challenge is to develop a product with the least amount of failures possible so that players of this genre enjoy a good game
