*** IMPORTANT UPDATE: ALTHOUGH WE HAVE REACHED AND SURPASSED OUR INITIAL GOAL OF $8.5K, MATTHEW STOVER HAS ANNOUNCED THAT HE WILL KEEP WRITING ISSUES UNTIL THE MONEY RUNS OUT. $30K WILL KEEP THE ISSUES COMING FOR A YEAR, MAYBE MORE. ONLY YOU CAN MAKE THIS HAPPEN!!***
Once, long ago, there were doorways, magick stone circles where our world, Earth, overlapped with a world of Elves, magick and Dragons. A thousand years ago those doorways closed. And they have remained closed…until now.
The year of our story is 2219. The Studio has opened the old doorways again using technology instead of magick and found OverWorld; a world every bit as real as Earth, a world of Ogres, Dwarves and real, working magick...and sent Actors through in order to embark on adventures the likes of which can never be experienced back home on Earth.
Fans don’t just watch these adventures: they live them. The very wealthy live them first-hand, as they happen; the rest of the fans, the “second-handers,” buy recordings, edited down after completion.
Caine is a character; the man who plays him, Hari Michaelson, is the most famous Actor of his time. The Studio sends him to Overworld, and there he has “adventures,” for the entertainment of billions back on Earth.
Caine is a murderer, an assassin: “The Blade of Tyshalle.” He is a genuinely bad, brutal man. He’s killed hundreds of people -- with knives, swords, his bare hands, and whatever else he happens to find lying around. He’s very, very good at what he does, as someone can be only when he truly loves his work. And Caine . . . is the good guy.
And like every story, Caine's story has a beginning. This is the story of the man who would be Caine.
And as if the preceding story treatment written by Daniel Keys Moran was insufficient somehow, I am now supposed to inspire you by answering 3 questions.
Q) What Do You Want To Do?
A) I want to create an "origin story" comic book series titled: OverWorld, featuring the art of T J Halvorsen (formerly an Inker for Marvel's Incredible Hulk and currently a Penciler for DC's Batman and Robin, Wonder Woman) based on New York Times Best Selling Author Matthew Stover's books "Heroes Die", "Blade of Tyshalle", "Caine Black Knife", his up and coming novel, "His Father's Fist" and their beyond brutal anti-hero Caine. Matthew will also write the story. Have you ever had a book punch you in your fucking face? Pick up any of them. I dare you.
Q) How Do You Plan To Do It?
A) Well I've taken care of all the hard stuff over the course of the past 4 years; I reached out to Matt, negotiated the terms with his agents, reached out to T J, assembled a web team, etc. Now I just need some money to mass produce OverWorld at the highest quality possible. It would be swell if a couple of comic book stores here and there picked up OverWorld. It would even be more awesome sauce if OverWorld grew so big that Matthew had to hire George Lucas to work for him.
Q) What is the money for?
A) Mainly printing costs. But also annoying things like keeping our electricity/internet turned on while we work full time. We would also like to make some less expensive t-shirts than the ones available through one-at-a-time online t-shirt shops. Stickers, posters, and flyers would be cool too. It would, most definitely, NOT be used on hookers & blow. We don't do blow.
