Hi folks here's the download for the rules you've been waiting for - the final expansion - The Hood!

Wave 2 Update: Completion of the rulebooks took longer than expected (you'd be amazed how easily someone can misinterpret rules if you don't get it exactly right). However all the components are ready, design and editing of the rulebooks is complete, printing is taking place this week.

Rita and I spent the weekend confirming quantities of the final boxes and components shipping to North America, Asia and Europe (also covering rest of the world) so the factory will be packing the containers for shipment once the rulebooks are printed (in about a week's time). Shipments will leave asap - we'll give you all an update once they're en-route and of course will give you tracking details for the ships so we can all follow them across the seas.

Brains Notebook! It's fantastic to be completing this last stage of the Thunderbirds Kickstarter and we really appreciate your patience with the delays we've had. Once the Wave 2 games are in everyone's hands we'll be opening up submissions to Brains Notebook. Remember the Stretch Goal we unlocked with the Infinity Kickstarter? We'll be looking for cool game variants, new Disasters, FAB, Event and Scheme cards. We'll be assembling the best ones and Matt will be commenting as Brains through the booklet in notes. We'll be sending this in PDF free to all backers probably this summer once it's ready.

French Edition. Of course things don't stop with Wave 2. The French Edition translation continues (the core contents are complete and they're working on the expansion translation and layout at the moment). Once we have news of production starting on this we'll inform French backers and let you know about shipping timelines.

Enjoy the Hood!

Minor error in the rules (I think):
In the Hijack example, you've said John when I think you mean Scott.
It would also work better to say: "The Hood transfers to Thunderbird 1 and moves to Australia. Scott is now kidnapped." to work with the photo next to it, but that's just my opinion! :)

      Looks awesome though!

@R Kramosch we would need to know by end of January.

Is it still possible to add the RPG to our orders? If so, how, and when would be the deadline?

    4. Chris Birch, Modiphius 7-time creator on

@William, Wave 2 will be shipping from China in about 10 days. It will reach Australia pretty quick (couple of weeks) whilst US will be 4 weeks and UK/Europe 5-6 weeks - so we'll be shipping in different regions through February so depending where you are you may see it sooner in Feb but either way you should have the Wave 2 by end of Feb

@Scott - The RPG is shipping with the Wave 2

What's the status of the RPG? Don't remember reading any details on that. Is that shipping separately from the expansions?

I thought we were going to get our Game with all the extras for the one shipment people in January? If they are shipping now how long do we have to wait? Months? We will have to wait for the ship to dock, then unload them, ship to your warehouse then package all our stuff to order and then we get it? Please give us an honest answer on how long we have to wait.

      @Martin: See comments below:

I imagine more IR characters on the board would make it harder for the Hood? Assuming Tin-Tin, Brains and Parker give the same supporting character penalties.

      - There may be the possibility of marginally more character bonuses and penalties, but there are also more characters and machines that can be kidnapped and hijacked. It can be difficult to keep all of International Rescue guarded when The Hood is at large.

Should it be possible to imprison the Hood on Tracy Island as well as in the Manor?

      - Creighton-Ward Manor is better, as we thought that International Rescue would never risk taking The Hood to Tracy Island as this location is their most closely-guarded secret.

I'd also guess the new scheme tokens don't reference the new pod vehicles added in X1?

      - Correct. In case, the Tracy Island expansion is not part of the game session.

And of course the speed overlay doesn't have FAB2 or the Ladybird on it. I assume it's too late if you're going to printing, but having the speed overlay double-sided to show the effects of both expansions would be pretty useful.

      - Great minds think alike (or something like that.) The reverse of the speed overlay does show the top speeds for FAB 2 and the Ladybird jet.

Another small thing, but could it be possible (even unofficially) to alter Lady P's ability to say "Once per turn, you may spend an action to draw if you are in Creighton-Ward Manor." rather than just "in Europe"? It's a tiny change, but it fits in more with Brains and Tin-Tin's abilities.

      - Of course unofficially you may play however you like, however officially we will keep the text ‘in Europe’ as it provides continuity with the base game, where there isn’t a model of Creighton-Ward Manor and some players may not immediately know that it is in Europe.

Other than that it looks like it should be possible to combine them all into one epic game!

      - It is possible to combine the Tracy Island, Above & Beyond and The Hood expansions. We hope you enjoy the epic adventure that offers.

Question to clarify the effects of Hood rolls for IR players: does the Hood now move along his track if a Hood is rolled for the new special actions? (It seems odd to be able to further the Hood's cause and even lose the game for a dice roll which successfully captures the Hood.) If John is on TB5 is a Hood roll ignored as normal for special actions?
Does the Hood's marker continue to advance if he's captured? Since it's not mentioned in the rules, I assume his schemes can advance without him?

If there's a double-Hood roll, do the players handle the track incrementally? e.g. if there are no Hood agents on the board and the Hood is two spaces from a nearly-completed scheme, a double-Hood roll could trigger the token (which would automatically be discarded, thus completing a scheme) and then reach the scheme card position. Would this be considered a win for the Hood, or for IR?

Question about the example on page 8 of rulebook (dropbox download): why is the Hood subtracting 1 from his dice roll because of John? Should this be Scott, not John?

    10. Chris Birch, Modiphius 7-time creator on

@ Derek - If you look carefully you will see that The Hood is actually on the space before the card slot. You are correct in pointing out that The Hood player may not place an event card on a card slot if it corresponds to The Hood figures current position on The Hood track.

@Dan - The F.A.B. cards (& event cards) for each expansion are clearly marked on the front of the cards. The base game F.A.B. cards (with one exception) and event cards can be used with all of the expansions, but it is usually better to add the specific expansion F.A.B. cards and event cards only when you are playing with that expansion. Of course you can choose to mix and match any of the expansions together if you choose.'

A few thoughts on "Compatible with other expansions":

I imagine more IR characters on the board would make it harder for the Hood? Assuming Tin-Tin, Brains and Parker give the same supporting character penalties.

Should it be possible to imprison the Hood on Tracy Island as well as in the Manor?

Tiny issue: the example on p16 shows the event card being placed in the same slot as the Hood, but Plot rule (p6) says this is not possible!

    14. Dan Williams on

      Looks great! :)

One question: are the new F.A.B. cards compatible with the base game, or will they need separating?
