Age of Conan Sourcebook Announced!

Today we are excited to announce an exclusive Age of Conan cross-over sourcebook for the Conan Roleplaying game

Have you always wanted to play some of the great adventurers from Age of Conan in a tabletop setting? Now is your chance! The sourcebook for the Conan roleplaying game will be written with assistance from Funcom’s own Age of Conan team. It brings many of the unique locations, characters, creatures, monsters, and equipment from the computer game to the tabletop. The sourcebook offers expanded character generation rules with brand new backgrounds based on classes in Age of Conan, allowing players additional options such as even more dangerous magical powers.

The Age of Conan sourcebook will contain secrets and background on some of the most exciting adventures and locations in the game such as:

Tortage is one of the largest Barachan Isles off the coast of Hyboria. It is a den of smugglers, thieves and pirates. The players in Age of Conan start their journey here and in the tabletop roleplaying game anyone can delve deeper into the mysteries and conspiracies of the corrupt viper's nest.

The Iron Tower is a mighty prison in the Aquilonian capital city of Tarantia. It is a challenging dungeon in Age of Conan, where nothing is as it should be. It is filled with corrupt guards, devious infiltrators, crazed prisoners and even darker forces lurk beneath the surface.

Ymir's Pass lies between the barbarous lands of Cimmeria and the kingdoms to the south. It is a treacherous path through the mountains, where followers of the self-proclaimed bandit king Atzel, Frost Giants and Vanir raiders roam. Rumor has it that the oldest of the god Ymir's children, the Frostfather himself, dwells here.

The Age of Conan Sourcebook will be a full-color 112 page hardcover book lavishly illustrated with concept and original art from Age of Conan. Check out some of the location art below!

The Age of Conan sourcebook will be unveiled as a Stretch Goal within the Kickstarter and we are confirming that Modiphius will be publishing this book in 2017, which means that pledges with the PDF Subscription are guaranteed to get this in PDF!

The higher pledges; Hoard of Yezdigerd, Secrets of Mount Yishma and Treasure of Tranicos receive all Stretch Goal books in print once unveiled whether their goals are reached or not so once this is unveiled in our Stretch Goal graphic this book will be locked in to these pledges in print. However these pledges are guaranteed to get the book in PDF as part of their PDF Subscription benefits.

Also remember that anyone who joins the Kickstarter and pledges £15 and above will get the Age of Conan: Adventures in an Age Undreamed of Pack. This contains 5 XP Potions (double XP gain for 12 hours) and four powerful starter armor sets (Swashbuckler, Buccaneer, Marauder and Pirate) which can be claimed in the Age of Conan MMO.

Enjoy!

@Chris - Thank you very much!

@Hays - it will be once we have closed Kickstarter and processed all the payments. We will make the codes available through the pledge manager.

Out of curiosity, if we are suppose to get that bonus stuff for our AoC accounts how/when do we do that? Will we be getting a code to enter once this kickstarter goes through, or is there something I'm just not seeing?

I'd love to Fantasy Grounds. I've tried roll20 and it just didn't work that well in comparison.

@Belsarius - We don't have classes, but you'll be able to create any character using our system

Will it be possible to map the Conan roleplaying game to the Age of Conan character classes - Dark Templar, Tempest of Set etc?

    7. Chris Birch, Modiphius 5-time creator on March 3, 2016

@Hays - yes if it's unlocked in the stretch goals. It will be part of the PDF Master once unlocked, otherwise you'll get it with the PDF Subscription deal

Will this be one of the options for the supplements(for those of us that can choose what supplements the we recieve? Or will this be sold separately after the kickstarter? Because I would personally love this as an option....also will it be a part of the pdf package?

    9. David Thomas on March 3, 2016

The Conan: Exiles guys (also FUNCOM) just Tweeted about this supplement, with the addition "maybe one for Conan: Exiles soon?"

I do think it's pretty awesome how all the Conan games are crossing over. It's a great time to be a Conan fan and a gamer.

This is awesome. Played Age of Conan for years and I would love to pen and paper my fully T2/ Godslayer rep armored conqueror. Nicely done Modiphius.

Nice supplement, I may check out Age of Conan just as a casual gamer. This will probably the last book I get after I have all the main books on my shelf. :)

A very cool idea! The book will be worth buying for the concept art alone! Age of Conan has some very good stuff for Conan lovers and, apart from its magic system, is pretty faithful to Howard.

very cool move to intertwine the different media; rpg, online game, board game.

    14. David Thomas on March 3, 2016

      @Chris - sounds good

    15. Chris Birch, Modiphius 5-time creator on March 3, 2016

@David - Jeff and co will be overseeing all writing but obviously the Age of Conan world differs somewhat from the purist view we're taking with the core line of books which is why we've kept it as a separate supplement. The magic from the Age of Conan game will be interpreted using the same system so we'll be integrating it in a cool way.

Nothing like a nice herald of xothli to die fast...

    17. David Thomas on March 3, 2016

Will this still fall under the guidance of the Howard Scholars?
Will the magic be a sort of alternate system? I suspect it will be too MMO/D&D for me.

Don't get me wrong, it's cool that we will get those neat locations fleshed out for the RPG!

    18. Fabiano Ferramosca on March 3, 2016

That's amazing news. Tortage is the best starter zone I have played in any mmo. I was thinking of creating a scenario to my players inspired in the destiny quests.

@Gman316 - they'll be drawing on a lot of cool content in the Age of Conan world - we'll have to see about the novels though.

Oooo now between this and Kull, things are shaping up to be THE Conan RPG. All we need now is an Acheron Empire sourcebook ;) ... Out of curiosity, will this also include things from the Age of Conan novels? They were pretty fun light reads with a wealth of bits for a budding GM.
