the MODERN COLOUR KICKSTARTER
Hi folks, it’s Modern Colour and we welcome you to our Kickstarter page. This is the first step in the making of our debut full-length album, and we are glad that you stopped by to take part; even coming this far means a huge deal to us.
We have spent three years writing the songs for this record, and more recently, finding the right producer/engineer to capture our sound. His name is Anthony Tidd (he has worked with a long list of amazing artists including The Roots and the Black Eyed Peas). Beginning in May, we will lock ourselves in his Philadelphia based-studio and create the best album we can. We will be releasing it in September and we hope that it will pave the road for a long and prosperous career for us.
City Paper one of Philadelphia's largest alt-weekly newspapers, ran this article about Anthony Tidd last month, click to read more about this great musician and producer. http://www.citypaper.net/cover_story/Anthony_Tidd.html?c=r.
Since we are an independent band with no giant label to back us and present us with the zillions of dollars that it takes to manufacture and promote a record this big, we are coming to you to gather these funds. This way we can bring you the most honest and true representation of ourselves and what we think our music should sound like. We will not have the prying eyes of label reps, lawyers, and A&R guys looking down on us. Its just about the music, how we think it should be. We are also committed to making absolutely sure that EVERY PRODUCT sold through our Kickstarter is unique to this campaign. That means every reward you receive can be found no where else.
**ALL SHIPPING COSTS ARE INCLUDED IN EVERY PACKAGE, NO MATTER WHERE YOU LIVE!**please bear this in mind when you look at the prices. Those living far away lucked out, those living closer to the great metropolis of Philadelphia… well, just be happy you’re close to us.
We listen to music on all different gadgets, and we are sure you do to. Whether its on your iPod, phone, laptop, grandfather’s old record player, or some retro boombox, we know how important it is to get the right product to the right person. While we can’t dictate how you consume your tunes we can make sure that what you get is the most badass representation of our work.
You can get a digital download for as little as FIVE dollars. However, if you like your music as a TANGIBLE product then…
-both the COMPACT DISC and VINYL will be limited edition “kickstarter-backer” and will never be made in the same way again.
-our COMPACT DISC - will be in a hard-bound case, include an original art booklet and limited edition photographs.
-our VINYL - hmm that feels good to say, “OUR VINYL” this is the first time we will be releasing a recording on vinyl. It will be a single pressing on a black 180 gram double-record set, complete with large-format artwork. EXCITING!!
As soon as you support this kickstarter, PLEASE TELL EVERYONE YOU'VE DONATED, AND SPREAD THE LINK FAR AND WIDE.
thank you, thank you, thank you.

Risks and challenges Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
The risks and challenges that we are faced with to overcome this project are no different than the risks and challenges that we have been overcoming for the past three years. We have already proved that we can do the work in the studio. And we have already proved that we can release a product on time and within a budget.
We have allotted more than enough time to package and deliver all of our backer-rewards so they reach their destination on schedule. If we do run into any set-backs, we will be sure to update our backers every step along the way so they know exactly how the project is coming along.
No, we are from the U.S. Tom is a duel citizen because both of his parents are from Scotland. The reason for the 'U' in colour was an homage to some of our favorite British Guitar heros. John Mayall, Eric Clapton, Rory Gallagher, Jimi Paige, Jimi Hendrix (and yes we know he was American, but his band was British so we include him), more recently the great Davy Knowles.
