Who are we ?
Sample live stream
In almost two years, Modelling Workshop became the most consulted weekly live stream exclusively dedicated to the military scale modelling on Facebook with more than 90,000 unique video views on 2017 and almost 480,000 persons reached.
Due to the success of the Modelling Workshop live streams and my professional experience as editor and project manager, the development of Modelling Workshop Publications, based on my own know-how and the desire to offer new multimedia tools, has become a matter of course.
With nearly 30 years of experience in scale modelling and miniature painting, numerous articles published in specialized press magazines (AFV Modeller, Steelmasters/ Steelmasters USA) and many awards at International contests, i am confident to be able to offer you the tools to progress and use new painting and weathering techniques.
Two years ago, i left my position of editorial director, senior executive marketing & project manager at Caraktere publishing (Panzer: the German tanks encyclopaedia, Messerschmitt Bf 109: The complete monography... and so on) - leader on the French military history market - and decided to dedicate my whole time to the military scale modelling, at first with a weekly live stream on Facebook and from now on, as owner of Modelling Workshop Publications.
José Luis Lòpez Ruiz (Guest author)
I was born in 1971 in Madrid, Spain. Because of my father, also a modeler, I started to make kits very young, maybe 7-8 years old. I did everything on hand: airplanes, tanks, ships and mainly Sci-Fi subjects as Star Wars was a real shock for me.
But as I started my engineering studies and I got married, I stopped making kits. My work and my family, with two babies were time demanding and no time for gluing a simple part of plastic.
As my children were less time demanding, I started again making kits, focusing on AFV´s modelling in 2008. From the beginning, I felt more comfortable painting than assembling, so I was more worried about how to paint my kits in a different and attractive way to my eyes.
And I must confess… my building skills and extra-detailing are zero! During all these years, I created the Black and White technique and published more than 100 articles in different international magazines and I´ve also published books with Ammo by Mig Jimenez (Spain), Histoire et Collections (France), Geramond Verlang (Germany), Shinkighensa and Hobby Japan (Japan). I really enjoy looking for new, easy and attractive ways to create realistic effects on my kits, and I´m open to new techniques and products. Oils are, anyway, my favorite products for weathering above all.
In 2015, because of my work as a civil engineer, I lived for 2 years in Colombia. Living in a new country so far away from home, allowed me to return to my roots with Sci-Fi modelling.
It is always a pleasure to return to AFV´s world with a good friend of mine as Johan Camus.
So, thanks my friend and let the tigers roar again!
Risks and challenges
My experience as editor, senior project manager and marketing manager for Caraktere Publishing (Panzer: the German tank encyclopaedia, Messerschmitt Bf 109: the complete monography) as well as for a leading international player of the entertainment market significantly reduces the risks about the way i will lead this crowdfunding campaign.
The estimated delivery date for Tiger - A German heavy tank collection is May 2019, but please keep in mind that this is only an estimate. Also note that due to logistical restrictions in different regions, some backers may receive their pledge rewards before others. We will be doing our utmost to avoid these situations and, in the unlikely event that we are unable to deliver the book, we will be refunding pledges in full.
- All gone!
