What is this record about?
Pain is one of our great teachers. Sometimes our greatest pains come from unexpected endings. Moda Spira has been my musical venture to write songs processing the ups and downs of life. I've spent the last year grieving the unexpected end to my marriage… a year of change, loss, deep sadness, and healing. I have always processed my emotional world with music. It’s hard not to feel isolated by grief. You cannot expedite or rush healing, but you can definitely delay it. This album was born out of my commitment to walking through this season, trying not to find away around it—not ignoring it—but staring at it and doing the work of trudging through it. So, this record is for me. This record is for those of you that know this uniquely difficult loneliness. We are not alone, even when we feel like we are. My hope is—if you are hurting or know someone that is—you will share this project and that it might be a source of comfort.
Support the album and get great rewards!
I do need your help, not only sharing the project but also in funding it. There are some great rewards. Supporting the project will get you all of the content two weeks before it's official release! My co-producer Dave Wilton (A Boy and His Kite) wrote an original song about the last year as well, tethered to my story, which will be included in the digital download of the album.
My very first Vinyl ever!
I am pressing vinyl finally, woot! Be sure to grab a copy from this limited edition run with a very special creative ending.
My first Moda Spira T-shirt ever!
I love these designs and look forward to having shirts for the first time for you to sport on any occasion!
Skyping, Handwritten Lyrics or a House Show!
There are some Skype sessions available to chat with me about anything you want: music, life, songwriting, etc. Get handwritten lyrics by me for any song you choose from this album or the last! And of course, if you want to have a private concert in your home then the House Show is the option for you!
The sooner you support the album, the sooner you will receive updates with exclusive video and behind the scenes content...a mix of fun and serious moments as I was crafting the album.
I have also recorded the first season of a Moda Spira Podcast with my friends Luke Brawner and Aaron Hale as a companion piece to the album. Each episode will feature a song off the album as well as interviews with people in my community who have walked through this year with me. It’s a deep dive into the craft of making the album but even more so the emotional journey of my last year. The entire podcast will be available upon the release of the record this September. I am thrilled with the content and honored to have partnered which such wonderful people to create this album and podcast.
Thank you for being with me, supporting my artistry and independent music. It is a gift and an honor to share my music with you. I hope you enjoy this album. I am so proud of this project and I am grateful to be able to share it with you.

Risks and challenges
I am honored to use crowd source funding to back this album. My last campaign was two years ago and it was a success! It helped me engage with you, the listener, in a deeper way. You get to be a part of being a real patron of independent music, but you never leave empty handed! I am hopeful that you will see the work and heart I have put into this album and you will be compelled to share it! The record is ready to go and I am ready to share it with you! The funding is to help me pay all the parties involved in making the album outside of myself. My co-producer, other musicians, duplication, mastering, etc. I am honored to use Kickstarter again after using Indiegogo for the last campaign I ran. Happy to be back on this platform now!Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
