Frequently Asked Questions
Yes. Kickstarter will not charge your credit card until the campaign ends, so you can back now at $1 to comment and receive updates throughout the campaign, and upgrade to a higher pledge level later.
Even if you forget to upgrade your pledge, you will still get access to our Gamefound pledge manager after the Kickstarter ends. Once we send you the invitation links to join the system, you can then upgrade your pledge to any reward level, and add additional products or add-ons.
But please do consider upgrading before the campaign ends to help us unlock more stretch goals!Last updated:
Everyone that backed at $1 or more will receive an invitation link to our Gamefound pledge manager. You can then edit your pledge details, address, and add additional items such as additional copies of Mini Express, playmats, wooden inserts, or previous Moaideas titles.
If you'd like to help unlock stretch goals, you can add the funds you expect to spend on add-ons or extras to your Kickstarter pledge amount. The amount that you pledge will be credited to the email used by your Kickstarter account towards purchases of any items in our Gamefound pledge manager. Please use the same email for Kickstarter & Gamefound to minimize the chances of something going wrong.
You can still add additional funds later through Gamefound for add-ons or extras, as long as we haven’t locked down the system for shipping.Last updated:
[PLEDGE MANAGER]Does the $1 pledge have access to all KICKSTARTER Exclusive items in the pledge manager?
Short answer: Yes.
The Collector's Edition and stretch goals are not “KS Exclusive” per se, it is just that it would be hard (but not impossible) to include all these fancy stuff in future print runs by us or licensed partners due to the cost of stretch goals.
Also, I agree that exclusives do not align with the values of the board game community and everything you see on this campaign page will be available in the pledge manager.Last updated:
All items ordered in the pledge manager will ship with Mini Express. If you’d like to receive the other games sooner you can order them through our webstore. Note that you will have to pay additional shipping fees there.Last updated:
Yes. We have a very detailed shipping plan using 3 different fulfilment companies that will provide customs friendly shipping through various routes around the world. If your country is not in one of the listed regions, we cannot guarantee customs friendly shipping to you. Please note that Norway & Switzerland are not in the European Union, so your shipping fees will be higher.
To clarify, there is no escaping VAT when goods enter the European Union, so what “EU Friendly” actually means is that we will take care of import duties & applicable fees and pay them first. Thus a portion(but not all) of the VAT will be factored into the shipping fees we collect from you in the pledge manager.Last updated:
From our experience of using Taiwan Post to send games to the above regions, as long as we use tracked shipping and include a ***phone number***, most of the parcels can reach their destination when the recipient also rigorously checks for updates with their local Post Office.
But we cannot make any promises on tariffs duties & customs fees, sorry.
Note that the return postage is outrageously expensive, so in case that the local post office returns the parcel due to “Wrong Address”, “Declined by Recipient” ...etc, we will have to charge you additional shipping fees before sending again. So please do make sure that your name, address and phone number is correct.Last updated:
By our understanding and confirmed by various shipping companies, UK will still be under previous EU tax law at least until the end of 2020. Since we plan to manufacture and deliver Mini Express to you before the end of the year, UK is still within our Euro friendly shipping region for this campaign.
If there are any updates to this situation, we will keep you notified through updates.Last updated:
There will be a separate campaign on Modian(摩点众筹) and ZecZec(嘖嘖) for them. Please wait and back those campaigns. Main reason is that there will be less currency exchanges for you and me.Last updated:
Yes and No.
By the manufacturing quotes we’ve got, 10K is enough for a small print-run of a barebones edition of Mini Express. But we want to make it better, so the stretch goals are planned with a budget system that tells us “How much more can go into fancy stuff” at different levels of funding.Last updated:
This account is linked to our registered company in Japan as KS is not supported in Taiwan, and thus the base currency of this project is in Japanese Yen (JPY). We have years of experience handling international business in different currencies, and exchange rate fluctuations are always built into our budgets.
Even though the base currency of this campaign is in JPY, we will use USD for stretch goal milestones, which is easier for most people to understand.Last updated:
After surveying our fans and consulting industry friends, we've decided to only do a single edition of Mini Express for this Kickstarter Campaign.
We've always wanted to use crowdfunding to make a "Deluxe" edition of our games with fancy components, but since we don't have regular distribution partners for our games, manufacturing a separate print-run for "Retail" edition may not be a good idea before the deals are finalized.
Thus backing the campaign now guarantees you can get a copy of the Collector's Edition of Mini Express as seen here, and you will be directly helping us make more great games. Stock leftover after fulfillment of this campaign will likely only be available on our webstore or at our convention booths only.Last updated:
[GAMEPLAY] How does the “demand tile” in a city increase a player’s influence in seperate companies?
You are competing for Reputation in this game, not for making the most money.
The 4 railroad companies in the game are subsidiaries of corporations that have a stake in other industries; and the demand tiles represent either new markets or new sources for those industries. So, when you build a route to a city, you are expanding the reach of the parent corporations, and your Karma with them will increase.Last updated:
During our development process, first we marked the population centers in the 19th century, then tested if they are good & fun for network building. Additionally, we have a limit of 32 cities to distribute across the map, and sometimes we need a node in the middle of nowhere, or a major city might be skipped if the surrounding hexes are too busy. So some adjustments are made, but I think the current distribution of city hexes is pretty good.Last updated:

The size of the US map board is 600 x 420 mm or 23.6”x16.5”. The playmat should be more or less about the same size, but may be slightly different due to factory specifications.Last updated:
The box size is 228 x 228 x 59 mm or 9’x9”x2.3”. This is the same size as Mini Rails, Symphony No.9, Tulip Bubble, and Liberatores.
