I would like a refund too. I paid for something that was advertised as better than Android IA and Android X86. It was also supposed to be out more than 16 months ago. And all your advertising mentioned a team but now your "we" even isn't able to handle comments and actually deliver Console OS at the same time. Those were all lies, and you can't keep my money if all you deliver is lies and excuses.

I'm already running Android X86; I paid for the Pro features, not a clone of what anyone can hack together. Please refund me.

    2. Mobile Media Ventures, Inc. Creator on February 23, 2016

The problem will resolve itself shortly, but thanks for your feedback.

    3. ACH on February 23, 2016

The spam comments have already been removed, and even so what you're saying makes no sense. There is a dedicated page whose entire purpose is for creators to provide updates; the comment wall is irrelevant in this context.

    4. Mobile Media Ventures, Inc. Creator on February 23, 2016

Kickstarter is taking additional steps to resolve comment spam, which interferes with our ability to communicate with backers. They updated us this morning and assured us that this is about to be resolved. We are happy to wait 24 hours or so to accommodate Kickstarter's delay. If they cannot complete that request in the timeframe, we will use an alternate means to serve up Console OS to you all.

    5. ACH on February 23, 2016

My day is going great, thank you! However I'm still unsure what Kickstarter has to do with your ability to release anything?

    6. Mobile Media Ventures, Inc. Creator on February 23, 2016

We are working to deliver what we envisioned in our Kickstarter right now. Our first Lollipop release is on the file servers, just waiting on Kickstarter. Have a nice day!

    7. ACH on February 23, 2016

If your bankruptcy is due to you refunding all backers then yes, you are absolutely right.

Otherwise you could just, you know, actually deliver what you promised instead of wasting your time blaming everyone else. Or, barring that, take baby steps and just cut down on the logical fallacies and little white lies -- refunds are not possible outside of 60 days, 13 backers make up 50% of the comment wall, you have no obligation to deliver rewards, that it's your choice to ban your backers, etc.

Hi, I have not been following the project for a long time but seen not very good article on the project :( ... tbh I didn't even read them. I had a Toshiba encore and backed this project to be able to have android on it. But I have already sold my encore.

I wanna know if I will be able to install consoleos on any laptop or pc? I have an old hp dv4, will consoleos work on it?

    9. Mobile Media Ventures, Inc. Creator on February 23, 2016

Please just leave us alone. You want nothing other than to see us bankrupt, or options that would require Intel to resume development of Android-IA for PC, which they have said they have no plans to do.

Repeating the same criticism, constantly, hourly, is why we are moving to ban you.

    10. ACH on February 23, 2016

And please stop lying, YOUR posts make up half of the comment wall. Therefore, it is impossible that 13 backers' posts make up half of the comment wall.

    11. ACH on February 23, 2016

Perfect, that is exactly what I expected from you. You have no problem saying that you'll delay the project because you're spending too much time on this wall repeatedly posting canned comments, but you won't spend the time to address actual concerns and criticisms. Since obviously that it's "not productive" isn't the real reason, the logical conclusion is that you don't have rational responses to those questions and criticisms. Heck, you might actually have to take some responsibility or admit some fault, which you have not once done.

It's actually pretty amusing (well maddening, really) if you take a step back and think about it. You have blamed: Intel, Kickstarter, Chih-Wei Huang, your backers -- everyone but yourself. A little humility goes a long way.

    12. Mobile Media Ventures, Inc. Creator on February 23, 2016

@Edgar - We are not refunding people. We chose to ban 13 backers that have caused a huge drain on our resources, and account for more than half our comment wall.

We have said there will be a full feature roadmap update after we ship Lollipop. We said clearly as the first Kickstarter operating system, that feature set is subject to change... that is not grounds for a refund. We do expect the original vision of Console OS (Pro) to be implemented over the next few versions, based on our risk mitigation and new path forward.

    13. Mobile Media Ventures, Inc. Creator on February 23, 2016

Our focus is on shipping Console OS Lollipop. Discussion of what-ifs, had we taken other roads, is not productive in-depth. We expect to have some path to download later today, we just talked to Kickstarter this morning on these open issues. They are working to resolve it, and we're passing that along.

    14. ACH on February 23, 2016

"We had legal clearance to quit at that point."

If someone actually told you that you could have just taken the money and ran, you should probably fire them. Even if we accept that you accurately disclosed the risks (which I absolutely don't agree with) you are legally bound to come up with a plan and try to execute that. You could not have just quit and taken the money.

In addition, had you chose to just walk away you would have needed to justify that decision with much more information -- information that you have thus far refused to provide such as accounting and proof that you actually did more than cobble Intel's work together and ship a pre-Alpha quality build.

Your repeated misinterpretation of the Kickstarter ToS that governs this project makes me think you didn't actually read them.

"This is a Kickstarter, not a suicide pact."

Yawn, another strawman (TM). Who said that exactly? You could have simply refunded your backers' money long ago (even past the 60 days; it has been done before and is absolutely possible even if we're talking about partial refunds). Regardless by accepting funding you are legally binding yourself to deliver rewards. This is especially true for physical rewards, which don't depend on Intel doing your work for you.

Also, had you actually implemented 10 features (which you claimed to have), not collecting $50,000 from Huang in return for simply demo'ing them is borderline negligence and, had you been answering to shareholders, would be grounds for legal action against you.

I'm looking forward to the adult, intelligent discourse that we'll surely have once you finally address the points in this comment.

Will Console OS Lollipop have any of the advertised Pro Features?

WindowFlinger – A true window manager for Android – run Android apps in windows (Console OS - standard version - will run two apps side-by-side)
InstaSwitch – Building a new hypervisor to instantly toggle between native Android and native Windows
Console Remote Access -> Remotely access your Console OS device from any old Android
Additional codecs and media playback support
Native DVR support (planned ATSC, DVB, QAM/CableCARD, & DTCP-IP)
Built-in media serving (UPnP and DLNA)
Console Files – A new file manager we’re building in to the desktop
Console Maps Pro – Premium Maps with Enhanced Turn-by-Turn

Otherwise i think i will go for the refund. Tired of waiting for something that was never close to what as been advertised on Kickstarter.

    16. Mobile Media Ventures, Inc. Creator on February 23, 2016

We're sorry that you feel that way, but again, it is without question that had Android-IA for PC not been discontinued (within a month of our ship date, which we shipped within), our work would not have been dramatically impacted like it was.

We had legal clearance to quit at that point. This is a Kickstarter, not a suicide pact. We are choosing not to, and we will not be brought down by criticism for that choice.

    17. ACH on February 23, 2016

Ever heard the saying about "lipstick on a pig"? Your posts are nothing more than passive-aggressive, patronizing jabs thinly veiled in civility. The number of mistruths and inconsistencies you've put forward in these comments is staggering. The fact that you continue to do that, ignore backer concerns when these are pointed out, refuse to take ANY responsibility (seriously, never even once) and consistently treat your backers as if they are stupid; that is the real disrespect.

Throwing all of this aside, the real truth is that you have delivered nothing but an alpha-quality version of Intel's work with zero added features that doesn't run on all "launch" devices. You hold no moral high ground while that statement holds true; and it has for over a year now.

    18. Mobile Media Ventures, Inc. Creator on February 23, 2016

Calling us "con men" is why we are in kind, calling you a troll. We have been open, respectful, and hard-working to keep Console OS going, in spite of stated risks impacting us. Console OS is now open source, we have been making regular contributions, and we're excited to be shipping this week.

If you are "sick and tired" of this, simply go away. We'll keep calling out your disrespect. Thanks.

Seriously, I am getting so sick and tired, and insulting by being called a "troll" over and over again. I, along with so many others, backed your "project" two years ago Mr. Price. We have every rights to be reasonably disappointed when there is literally nothing delivered as you promised, and you call us a troll for that? Among the 13 of us only 2 have EVER had their posts removed, while they have a good reason to repeat their post -- you never answer disappointed backers' questions directly.

As of now, I am not, and was never "banned". And being called a "troll" again and again by a con man like you Mr. Price, is insulting. I strongly urge my fellow backers, to take actions. It is no longer a matter of $10. It is about how to drive scammers out of this community. FTC complaint and media exposure might be a good place to go at this stage.

    20. Mobile Media Ventures, Inc. Creator on February 23, 2016

We disagree, respectfully. We are excited that Console OS Lollipop is uploaded and will be in the hands of backers shortly.

    21. ACH on February 23, 2016

"Disrespectful"? Every one of your comments is a patronizing, deceptive, hyperbolic bundle of garbage. You've disrespected your backers for a year and a half.

    22. Missing avatar

      Ripton on February 23, 2016

Wait, how does stopping someone from commenting here will make your Console OS launch more successful? If I understand things properly, by delaying COS even more you are making even more people angry = even more "spammers" = more delays to ban those people...
Why don't you just release it already? You will lose nothing if you release it now rather than later, in fact you will only win...

    23. Mobile Media Ventures, Inc. Creator on February 23, 2016

We won't engage in disrespectful dialogue. Our first Console OS Lollipop builds are on the server, ready to ship. If Kickstarter doesn't do their job, and reign in the trolls (pursuant to our update 12 hours ago) we will bypass the comment wall for good and ship anyways.

That may mean we just auto-reply to each and every comment going forward, pointing people to another tool... but posts like the one below are part and parcel of why we may have to do that.

    24. ACH on February 23, 2016

"The threat"? Dude, you've completely lost it.

    25. Mobile Media Ventures, Inc. Creator on February 23, 2016

It doesn't matter if there is one backer posting hundreds of comments per day... the threat remains and if a 24 hour delay resolves that problem, we think that's the right call to make. We stand by the decision.

    26. ACH on February 23, 2016

Stop making excuses. Only YOU have the power to erase the black mark on this project and your reputation. Blaming two backers (yes, only TWO had any comments removed) for your failure to deliver is pathetic.

    27. Mobile Media Ventures, Inc. Creator on February 23, 2016

@Jeff - And we clearly followed that up with an explanation of what happened with Kickstarter, a situation that they still are past-due on resolving.

We're giving people what most asked us to do - transparent updates in real-time. The downside of that, is sometimes, things change. You can't have it both ways.

    28. Jeff Bristow on February 23, 2016

I will remember that on 2/23/2016 you announced in the comments section that ConsoleOS will be shipping over "the next day or so." I have been reading similar statements for two years. Let's see if this one pans out.

    29. Mobile Media Ventures, Inc. Creator on February 23, 2016

Hi folks, we are listening. But to say we have left people "high and dry" is rather ridiculous.

Anyone can build Console OS based off of GitHub today. What we will be shipping is a pre-packaged version of that code. We have said we will ship Console OS over the next day or so - even if Kickstarter doesn't do their part.

And after that is done, we will continue improving on Console OS, both with weekly updates to you, and publicly live on GitHub as well.

We had no idea when we started this project that Intel would abandon Android-IA on PC. We did however state that, as a risk, we might have to change the feature set. That happened. Despite that, we're still here, still making Console OS happen.

Another thing we agree on. Kickstarter should become more involved. The should have a good look at this project and see why nearly all of the backers want a refund. Their name is being tarnished by dodgy projects such as these. I personally will never back another project whilst they allow creators to fleece backers without delivering the rewards, as required under the TOS..

Perhaps we could send the "13" to Syria to stop ISIS given that they are so effective derailing the project here :)

    38. ACH on February 22, 2016

Another day, another series of misleading posts by Price. Everything he posts points to these "13 trolls" wreaking havoc on this comment wall, when the fact is that only two backers had comments removed all the way back to February 5th (I stopped going backwards after that).

It's convenient to lump in backers like myself who question Price on his lack of production, motives, and track record, simply to try to discredit us. Make no mistake, there is no grounds for myself and probably at least 9 of the other 13 refunded backers to be "banned"; this is simply Price doing what he can to silence us. In our case that means he must issue refunds and try to have our status as backers removed. I guarantee that we would not be "banned" otherwise, and it's only being done because we asked for a refund.

That Kickstarter is being spineless and taking a backseat while Price spirals out of control is besides the point.

    39. Ryan Kritz on February 22, 2016

      @Ripton: my thoughts exactly

"We won't let the trolls win, even if we have to take another 24 hour setback."
@MMV: sure sounds like you've turned this into a personal vendetta. Angry backers aside, that's quite unprofessional behavior on your part. I've also been pretty surprised on how reliant you've been on this comment wall, considering you have a website, forum, and wiki you've spent many a time gloating to us about.

Also I know I'm not getting a refund, but it doesn't hurt to express my interest for one in writing, for the record, of course.

    44. Mobile Media Ventures, Inc. Creator on February 22, 2016

      Hello all,

It’s after 5 PM on the east coast (Kickstarter is based in New York, we’re out here in California).

The good news: Kickstarter’s spam team has purged dozens of spam comments (from over the weekend) so far, and they’re still working to clean up the mess trolls made over the weekend.

The bad news: We were informed the banhammer is controlled by a separate team, which still hasn’t closed out the ban process. The best answer we have gotten thus far, is a backlog of work.

It’s disappointing, for us, and for some at Kickstarter too. The longer it takes for Kickstarter to purge the 13 backers that we have banned, the more spam that is built up by them… the more mess for us, and for Kickstarter.

We have passed along suggestions to Kickstarter to improve some parts of their business - most notably, their support is not 24/7. As we have seen, trolls don’t quit on weekends, and they don’t work just business hours. Frankly, trolls are all too aware that Kickstarter only reigns in spam (both in posts and users) during work days. They’re aware that Mondays have a backlog, and we’re suffering from that at this hour.

Our focus over the next 24 is going to be to continue packaging and documenting. As soon as Kickstarter does what we all paid them to do, and reign in the trolls, we’ll ship our first Lollipop builds.

P.S. If Kickstarter fails to do their job tomorrow - we will start work on an alternate comment wall, and simply script up a blockade of our own. We don’t like to point fingers at companies we do business with, but Kickstarter is not doing what we (you backers, and us) paid them to do, which is manage the community in an efficient manner.

Build 0.4.95 of Console OS Lollipop (new version scheme) is in the can at 395 MB. The Express installer will take about double the size (we're working on shrinking that).

These builds should go live over the next 24 hours. Emphasis on should... we'll keep you updated.

While you wait, please do two housekeeping tasks. 1) Update your BIOS (don't just rely on Windows Update - go to your PC (tablet) maker's web site and check it manually). And 2) Disable Secure Boot.

Don't know how to do either? No sweat, we'll post more support on both topics shortly.
