About this project
It's about time that your clothing performed as well as you do. The 0-5 Blazer looks traditional but performs like a game day-worn technical garment. This is the first blazer that you can throw into a duffel bag, endure travel and then wear out that night without dry cleaning, steaming, or maintenance. No more suit bags for your next work trip! It is superior in fit and function.
Some men build rockets, that is the lofty calling that they choose to answer. Some men evolve the traditions of metropolitan transportation, replacing the hundred year old internal combustion engine with the timeless genius of of Nikola Tesla's technology. Tradition never wants to lie dormant. When it comes to innovation, it is a question of when rather than if.
There are those that infuse innovation into the art of physical preparation, education, and communication technology. We chose to focus our own passion - menswear. There are those more talented than us but none more driven. There are those with loftier names on their diplomas than us, but we know how to get things done. There are those with a more significant resume in the industry than us, but we know how to ask the questions no one else will. Indeed, they never had.
Years ago, Kevin came across a scene so common, most take no notice. He watched a man run into an important meeting sweating through his expensive clothing and dreamt of a fix. Web once viewed a mountain of a man, exhausted by the constant swim in ill-fitting clothing unfit for a man working to be a titan of his craft. Rather than settling for dreams or merely accepting the status quo, they acted. They knew that an approach none had ever taken was the only way forward. To some, the phrase “If it was such a good idea, someone would have already done it” becomes an excuse to act. Progress only comes from this willing to take a risk and move forward.
Mizzen+Main is the next great American brand -- one born of pure sweat, not privilege. We were born of hard-fought innovation, not industry's appointing. We worked for two years to perfect the men’s dress shirt, obsessing over every detail, combing through thousands of fabrics, testing and retesting each component. We did it. Then we perfected the Henley. Now, it is on to the blazer.
We have designed the greatest blazer in the garment's 180 year history. It appears as regal as the coat's origin on the HMS Blazer. It is as beautiful as St. John's campus where the name "blazer" became spoken into culture. And yet, most importantly, it performs as well as Michael Jeffrey Jordan at his playoff peak. This blazer was designed for the men that make things happen – entrepreneurs, athletes, artists, dignitaries – with a life on the go that demands the best. It combines wrinkle free technology, incredible four way stretch, and magnificently light fabric all with a style that is indistinguishable from any other garment in the board room or the clubhouse.
That very dichotomy is one that Mizzen+Main has perfected by engineering traditional menswear out of proprietary performance fabrics that leave you sweat free, wrinkle free, odor free, and confident as ever. We believe in evolving tradition like the great men who build the means to go new places. If there was ever a uniform for those journeys, our tag would be on the garments of all of those traveling.
Join us as we continue to evolve textile manufacturing. It's about time that your clothing performed as well as you do. Mizzen+Main's 0-5 Blazer is tradition evolved.

Risks and challenges
We have been perfecting the production and design of performance fabrics in classic menswear for two and a half years. We started with a concept born out of a common frustration, but we had zero industry experience. This was both a difficulty and a blessing, because it enabled us to look at things differently, challenging the status quo. Over the last two and a half years, we have learned the intricate details, the challenges, the opportunities, and the potential pitfalls of the design, manufacturing, and delivery process.
We've gone from launching two white dress shirts eighteen months ago to a presence at Saks Fifth Avenue in their flagship store in Manhattan. We've cut our teeth along the way and are now in a position to execute successfully our new efforts.
This project will be seen through to successful delivery, though we know of course there is always the possibility of delays due to circumstances outside our immediate control. Potential areas for delays include: yarn deliveries, fabric production, freight deliveries, cut and sew machining processes, or component pieces such as buttons or labels. Anyone who has been involved with any manufacturing process knows that these could always present potential problems, but, we have worked with all of our vendors for several projects and have gaps built into our production timeframe to handle potential delays.
We have worked from the beginning to continually improve our manufacturing processes, working with the best partners right here in America.
One more reason for our added confidence? We know all of our vendors because they are proud American companies with a heritage of their own. We've had coffee with them. We meet with them in person regularly. They are not nameless entities thousands of miles away. They are our partners in this process, and we are proud of that. Our partnerships help us minimize our risks. Our partnerships help us produce our incredible garments. Our partnerships are helping us build the next great American brand.Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
