3,500 backers! Way to go! Okay. Let's do something really special here. Not an unlocked costume piece this time. We're going to take a little something that slipped into last night's update, and go into a little more detail. There's a lot of things like this in all the updates, and someday, I'm hoping you'll catch them all. Until then, let's do this step by step.

But first, a reminder: This is what we hope to do. We're pretty sure we can do it, but it's possible we may not be able to do it to the degree we show here.

Here's the image from last night.

I like it, but it's missing something. Star-On-Chest Man was pretty good...

Star-On-Face Man is born! Perfect!

And don't forget, we still have our normal update tonight.

And next week? We're thinking we'll focus on Lore, but let's see what happens tonight, first.

SWEET!!! Now it should only take me 8 to 10 hours to design my costumes, rather than my average 4 to 5 hours! This is gonna me AWESOME!!!

very nice that you can place the symbol anywhere. However, what would be really cool is allowing multple instances of the same symbol....

Also wondering if coltume patterns can be shifted/rotated.

This seems very similar to APB, which a lot of people have argued is still the best costume/avatar creators (Check youtube to compare). Good to see you've got some of the same features planned. As someone who plays the game regularly, the creativity there is the closest I've seen compared to City of Heroes. This is a good step.

@Izzy - maybe...... (btw dude, saw your morphing demo. You may want to touch base with our art lead)

      @Donna - EeeeeeeeviiiiiiiilllLLL!

I'm gonna guess that the body will be made up of multiple meshes? and Joined maybe? So... is the Star going to be a Decal Material? :)

Awesome. Will we be able to make Beastials? And costume them as well?

So even if you took the same emblem and costume concept as another player by merely moving the emblem and maybe stripes/design around you can still look 100% unique. Now this is awesome! I can't wait for the Avatar builder to go live so i can start messing with this stuff.

...why am I suddenly reminded of "Mermaid Man" from Spongebob Squarepants...? ;D

@Rae - In fact, the Costume Creator (the Avatar Builder) will be released as a standalone well before the release of the game. The first two stretch goals were to develop Android and iOS versions. -Online Community Manager

The Avatar Builder is scheduled for launch before the game, as a standalone, and on iOS and Android as well as PC. And yes, you'll be able to save and load the costumes when it goes live.

We've got a lot of plans for it, and we hope to be able to pull most of them off.

I'm with Darren and everyone else who has made similar comments this month. I'm going to need an intervention to get me out of the costume creator. Someone asked (was it yesterday?) whether we could get access to the costume creator before the game is launched? This may save someone's life, ya know.

So, will I be able to make a naked character with black bars across his Naughty Bits™?

    16. Craig E Ransom on October 25, 2013

I like what you're doing so much that I upped my pledge from $50 to $75!

Looking forward to the Lore update. As I mentioned a few updates ago, I'm a sucker for story and what's a story without background.

Oh, and related to this update, I'm going to lose -so- much time in the costume creator. There might need to be intervention teams for some of us.

So, the emblems will be able to go just about anywhere!?!! Very good! ^_^

Lore? as in the game-world's backstory? [waiting with barely concealed excitement]

@Scott - to be determined. There will be playtesting to validate how much we can manage with 100 heroes on the screen at once.

Looks like you're borrowing a page from the THQ WWE games.
That's a really fantastic idea for costume creation, hope it works out.
How many layers do you think we'd have to work with?
