Well, You Did It. You Blew It All To Oz.
The barrier’s broken. The walls are down. The walls are down, by the way, as they don’t exist in the new world we’re creating.
Monday. Over twenty days left.
It’s times like this I think back to my greatest role model, growing up, the person who taught me everything about how to be a leader. And I ask myself, how would he handle this?
I’m pretty sure Kermit The Frog would just panic up and down the backstage for a while, then straighten up and head out front, in a perfectly calm, if somewhat choked voice, and thank everyone.
So that’s what I’m doing. Thanking you all. Each and every one of you, you deserve it.
We don’t. Yet. We have to earn your thanks. You’ve given us credit ahead of any possible reason, you’ve given us your promises. We have to deliver.
And we will. In the upcoming days, you will see more from us. There will be new videos coming, and they will have things in it, glorious things. But beyond that, you will meet the denizens of the world we’re making. The ones you work with… or punch in the face. Sometimes both. You will get a tour of our planned infrastructure. The servers everyone asks about. They’re not physical anymore, of course, but we can talk about how we intend to handle them.
It’s going to take a while. We all know that. MMOs take a long time to launch, and we’ll probably slip a deadline or two. We will get other things out to you sooner. Parts, bits and pieces that are fun on their own, that will integrate into the final game. The Character Generator program comes first. Costumes and sliders and backgrounds. Possibly we’ll be able to fit other things into it, but I don’t want to count my chickens before I’ve irradiated their eggs with Kirbonium.
In short, my friends, today is your day. We’re just awestruck sitting here behind the curtain. And we’re working as fast as we can.
Someday, we hope to be worthy of the trust you’ve placed in us. I’ve placed my name and reputation on it.
I want to share with you one more thing. My personal motto. I picked it up from an author named Henry James. “We work in the dark - we do what we can - we give what we have. Our doubt is our passion, and our passion is our task. The rest is the madness of art.”
I hope that you understand that. I hope you understand that for all of us, this is jumping off a cliff with no net, just a pile of parts and some instructions in a language some of us understand. But it’s okay, because I’ve got a Vision, and we’ve all chosen to share it. We may fall on those rocks. They’re there. They’re real. But if we can get this flying machine going in time… there’s nothing in the verse that can stop us.
