 Foxes and superheroes go together like… bats and superheroes. You don’t believe me? Don Diego de la Vega, one of the most famous superheroes of all time took as his heroic name… the Fox! Or, as the world knows him, Zorro!

Now, admittedly, Kitsune tend to be viewed on both sides of the line, hero and villain. The trick is to keep feeding ‘em plenty of Inarizushi.

Otherwise they might go after the ham.

*dev team chorus*

On the ninth day of Devmas, 

your dev team gives to thee,

Nine foxtails a-spinning,

Eight muttonpacks tinkering,

Seven dragons lairing,

Six ninja-to slashing

Fiiiiive… Firefairy... Wings

Four rockin keytars

Three top hats

and a mind control beard in a tree …. 

 Well, we happen to have a nine tailed one hanging about - that’s seven more than Tails has, and that means he can fly even better. And he’s decided to give you guys a copy of his personal propeller.

 Aaaand there comes the Beard in to steal it.

You don’t wear it there, Beard!

 Well… I guess that’s one way to get the dragon off him.

 Nope, it's clinging on like Worf, son of Mogh.

      That is entirely too many tails, honestly.

      Once you go past maybe like *five* tops then you're just kinda cramming them in on top of eachother.

      Signed, someone who has drawn more multitailed fox people than they care to have done.

      This may depend on some details of technical integration with some of our art software. While we can almost certainly provide at least a couple of options as separate costume pieces (e.g. 1, 2, 3, 6, 9 or something of the sort), maintaining nine separate costume pieces individually might be excessive. However, depending on those technical details (which are very much not clear yet, and some of them not even under our direct control), it may be possible to simplify the maintenance fairly dramatically. Even if that proves not to be the case, I would expect that we would support any number of tails that had sufficient demand for it, just as with any other costume piece.

      However, what is available *at launch* may also not be the full set that we might eventually support. The nine-tail form is the only one we're currently actually *promising*, specifically because it is a "dev item giveaway" and the dev's moniker specifically says nine.

      @Christopher Faini:

      My best guess at the moment is that they would be approximately as adjustable as any of the other tails; how adjustable that ends up being is, as of yet, not particularly well defined (and, as with so many things, what we support at launch may or may not reflect what we can eventually do). The one caveat I can add as of right now is that it seems fairly unlikely that the tails would be individually modifiable, although that does not necessarily rule out something like "central tails vs. side tails" possibly being at least somewhat variant.

      As for animation, while I would expect some basic form of it, because so far as I know we are attempting to do so for all of the tail costume pieces, it might not be especially fancy. That said, however, they may well be reactive to the world in ways that aren't purely animation (for example, if you spin around, they may show the effects of having mass, and thus momentum).

      As someone who really wanted to create a kitsune character in City of Heroes, I'm excited to see that there will be a 'nine tails' costume part :D

      It is looking good so far! Just curious though, would the size on things like this be adjustable? I don't intend to aim for something crazy like Ahri from league of legends, but I think I would try to make the tails a lot larger on my character.

      I may as well also ask, will tails and such be animated? I know animating nine tails would be a hassle, but I'm just curious ;)

      Not all Kitsunes has that many tails, will you be able to change to number to fewer tails?
