Mischief Dice - Bring something new to game night.
A new twist on an old favorite. Combining two great things: gaming and machining. Premium CNC billet aluminum gaming dice.
We will relaunch these again in a short amount of time but there will be more options and some cool new stuff so follow the link above or follow us on facebook
This is a quick clip done from my phone of the prototype dice. They are too shiny for my phone to really show them off.
Hi my name is Danny, I am a mechanical designer in Boise Idaho. The design of these dice was inspired by a classical machining exercise that is called a turner's cube. For one I thought it would be fun to make a turner's cube and also realized that it would make an awesome dice.I have a manual milling machine in my garage and I thought this would be a fun project so I made a couple pair. One set for me and another set for my cousin. She loved the design and showed them to some of her friends who also loved the design and asked me to make more.
It was suggested that I should start producing these dice which would be great but on a manual milling machine they are very time consuming to make. So I decided to write a program to make them on a HAAS CNC machine. The program has been tested and proven and is ready to crank out these awesome dice. I just need some secured orders to justify paying for machine time.
The reasoning behind starting this campaign was to see if there is an interest in these dice. I set the goal based on the idea that if I had enough interest that I could use the funding to go towards buying some machinery of my own. Which would hopefully lower the cost of making these. The average cost of machine time is between $60-$80 an hour and at that rate it only makes sense to do a large amount at a time. Whereas if I owned my own machinery I could cut out a significant amount of that hourly rate.
This is where you come in. If you are interested in my dice make a pledge and I will fire up the milling machine just for you and you can show off these gorgeous dice at your next game night. Your friends are sure to be impressed when you roll these out!
Stretch Goal #1- Anodizing
I have gotten confirmation that I will be able to get these anodized from a local anodize shop. I am offering four colors:
It will add $5.00 per pair of dice so if you want to add color to your dice add $2.50 per individual dice you want anodized.
For example if you are ordering one dice add $2.50 to your pledge. If you order six dice add $15.00 to your pledge.
As of Friday April 17th I have dropped a couple of dice at the anodizers and they should have samples for me to show off early next week. I will post pictures as soon as I get those samples back. I think they will look amazing anodized!
Stretch goal #2
I know it is last minute but I have come up with a concept for the case. I wanted something that would not only protect the dice but also display them the way they should be. I think it also shows off the design very well.
Let me know what you think in the comments.
If the campaign is successful I will ship your dice in one of these cases to fit your order up to 8 dice.
Risks and challenges
The risks involved are very minimal. The program is ready the machine is ready. The only real obstacle is getting enough orders to start production.Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
