Our Project

MISA KOIDE(Dancer) × MIKAKO KURA(Set Designer)

Two Japanese artists, based in Berlin, will perform 'Grenze' in Berlin in March 2019. This performance will be their first collaborated work.

‘Grenze’ means border, border line, limit, frontier, bound or junction line in German.  The performance is about the Grenze, a border line between inner self and outer self. Everyone has their own Grenze. It it completely individual, but also has the same characteristics in some way.

The performance is about the Grenze, a psychological border line between yourself and other people around you. How we perceive other people inside the border, in your consciousness, and that it can change how we interact with them or your own feelings. We believe that everyone has their own Grenze. It is completely individual, but also has the same characteristics in some way.

How we perceive other people inside ‘the border’, in your consciousness, and that it can change how we interact with them psychologically, and your own feelings from the interaction.

Having lived in multiple countries, we have met many people with different cultures and backgrounds, experienced different feelings, welcomed, loved, anxious, confused and isolated. Sometimes in need to protect ourselves psychologically inside the ‘border’.

We talked and we both found this concept interesting. We would love to challenge ourselves to make our performance particularly visually engaging with the professional dancer in different genre and the set design designed by an artist with years of experiences in the industry.

The performance will include music composed and performed live by Yu Miyashita.
