When thinking about industrial robots, what comes to mind is their size, high price and complexity. Although many people are passionate about industrial robot such as KUKA or ABB, until now, it has been unrealistic to own a quality industrial robot at home. Today that changes with Mirobot, the smallest 6-axis industrial robot arm for home, school and professional use.
Inspired by the ABB IRB 6700 industrial robot arm which is utilized in advanced factories around the world, we created the Mirobot robot arm – a small, affordable, and user-friendly industrial robotic arm that is accessible to everyone. Whether you are a robot expert, creative enthusiast or beginner, you can get started in the exciting world of robotics with Mirobot.
Designed for makers, robot enthusiasts, engineers, and students to learn coding, study robotics, and bring ideas to life. It can be your helping hand in a lab, university or workshop.
- Machine Vision
Combined with OpenMV and machine vision code, Mirobot can see and think. You can use it for shape detection, optical flow and a variety of other advanced vision tasks.
- Maneuver a GoPro
Mirobot can hold the GoPro or other mini cameras. You can make your own film or just capture the wonderful moments with Mirobot.
- Drawing & Writing
Utilizing our user-friendly software, Mirobot can be programmed to create beautiful handwriting and written notes. Programming writing tasks is as easy as writing on a screen.
- 3D Pen Drawing
Mirobot is perfect for artwork and crafts. It can perform assembly tasks for handworks, design, and crafts.
- Laser Engraving
Create your exclusive logo with Mirobot! Perfect for engraving on wood, leather, paper or other materials.
- Personal 6-Axis Robot Arm
Mirobot is the smallest 6-axis industrial robot arm available today. This incredible level of flexibility allows it to rotate freely on both horizontal and vertical axes and access more space than a 3 or 4-axis robot arms.
- 0.2mm High Precision
Mirobot offers 0.2mm repeatability that ensures that every motion is incredibly precise and repeatable.
- Smooth and Stable
The perfect motion control algorithm of the stepper motor allows Mirobot’s movements to be stable and smooth with much less trembling compared to an RC servo robot arm.
- Multiple End Effectors
Mirobot features a wide range of different swappable end effectors, including suction cup, universal ball gripper, micro servo gripper, electromagnet head, and more. By simply changing end effectors, Mirobot is capable of virtually any task.
- Open-source Firmware
We will open source GRBL-based firmware and Mega2560-based control board schematics. Everyone can make Mirobot better or customize their own robotic arm. Mirobot will support ROS, V-rep, Webots and more open sourced platforms.
To ensure that anyone can enjoy the process of creating, Mirobot has intuitive, user-friendly features that make getting started with robotics easy.
- Remote Controller
Mirobot also designed a robot controller, which is easy enough for beginners, children or family to start having fun with Mirobot. No coding or programming knowledge is needed.
- Mirobot App
You can control the robot arm using an App on your phone as well. It will be available on our official website soon. No coding or programming knowledge is needed again!
- Mirobot Studio
Mirobot Studio includes powerful tools for creative work and learning. Through the intuitive control interface, users can begin with basic commands quickly and advance to more complex programming at their own pace. It will be available on our official website soon.
You can use Blockly, G Code and Python in our official script-writing software, or access to its API on your own by using C, C++, C#, and JAVA. Mirobot API interface supports multiple programming languages and is perfect for tailor-made software development.

- Draw & Writing
You can draw on Mirobot Studio and the robot arm will repeat your drawing or writing precisely.
- Teach & Record
The teaching mode is available in both robot controller and PC software. It allows you to record and play the motions and automate the repeatable tasks.
- Leap Motion Control
With the leap motion sensor, Mirobot will follow your exact motion in real-time.
- Personal Production Line
Mirobot can be applied in many industrial simulation and educational purpose, where it can perform repeated tasks such as palletizing, pick and placing, assembling, and more. You can build your own mini production line at home or in your workshop.
- Sliding Rail
You can expand the work space by putting Mirobot on the sliding rail to increase range of motion or allow it to work in multiple locations.
- Conveyor Belt
Combine two or more Mirobots with the conveyor belt to create a mini production line on your desk or in your lab. Get two times as many tasks done and complete your projects faster.
- Mars Rover
Let's build your Mars Rover with Mirobot and the 4-mecanum-wheels car. You can control the robot arm vehicle through our App, Mirobot Studio, or Blockly. We will post more update about it in our next phase.
- Facial Recognition
Mirobot can act as an automatic camera. With OpenMV and the vision code, Mirobot can perform facial recognition.
- Playing piano
- Playing Lego
- Building blocks
- Playing Go
- Playing tangram puzzle
- Showcase with V-rep
- Continously 5 Hours Working TEST
- Speed Test
We are a team of engineers who are enthusiastic fans of robots and have many years of experience in designing robotics, CNC, and motion control. We are committed to bring the robot arm into the home, university, workshop and make robot arm accessible to everyone.
So we came up with the idea of creating a mini-industrial robot arm half years ago. After countless nights of research, testing, and debugging, we finally made it come to life.
Mirobot is our first desktop robot arm. It is open-sourced and highly extendable with all kinds of ports, visualized programming, and APIs. We also included many user-friendly and easy to understand features so that Mirobot can be enjoyed by everyone, from beginners to experts. We believe that Mirobot will allow people to learn about the exciting world of robotics and help them become creative makers for the future.
We have been through three iterations of product prototypes, including the optimization of the structure, control board, and software. After more than half a year of testing, we have basically completed the product verification and have cooperated with numbers of Chinese companies to implement the production, processing, assembly, and delivery.
We are a technology-driven startup based in Hackensack, New Jersey, USA, and we also have partner companies in Shenzhen, Beijing, and Suzhou, China, which guarantee the productivity of our products. In the future, our team will create more versatile robot arms to meet your needs!
Risks and challenges
With our years of experience in the robotics industry, we are very confident with our process and production schedule for Mirobot.
We have talked in detail about the production issues with our partner companies in Shenzhen and Suzhou, China, including the supply of all spare parts. The potential risks during processing and assembly testing are expected.
1. One potential risk is preparing for the injection molding manufacturing process. We have developed a detailed injection molding process and the production plan to produce at any time. Mold design has been initially verified by the prototype.
2. Secondly, since Mirobot is very small and it has many motors and sensors, it requires a lot of strick testing during the assembly process. We are still designing relevant testing mechanisms and instruments to ensure the efficiency of production.
However, we also know that hidden obstacles and challenges often occur. Because of that, we’ve made sure to account for some amount of craziness or unforeseen problems that may occur in our schedule. If something does go wrong, we promise to keep our backers updated and informed about any issues and about the way in which we are solving them.Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
