About this project
Most belts are bulky, uncomfortable and sloppy. The G6 is a high quality, minimalist belt designed with a classic, clean look, and a comfortable, low profile fit.
G6 Belt Story:
I love belts. I wear one every day, but I've always been bothered by the way my belts looked and fit. Even premium quality belts didn't fit well. They were uncomfortable and thick, often bulging under my shirt. I wanted one that fit perfectly without holes or flaps. I wanted a belt that was low profile and comfortable. So I designed a better belt.
Laser cut from .125” aerospace grade aluminum, the G6 buckle is a single, solid piece of hardware that couldn’t be simpler. Formed with a slight radius to fit the body’s curvature, the buckle is tumble polished and bright-dip anodized producing a comfortable fit that will last for decades.
The 1.5" wide dual-layered mil-spec. nylon strap is wear resistant and strong enough to withstand forces in excess of 3600lbs. Each strap is reversible showing either plain black or a bright thread color. The webbing is quadruple stitched with high quality marine grade 92 polyester thread. The tightly weaved webbing is firm, yet flexible, providing a high quality look that's also easy to fasten.
Style: Designed with a clean, minimal look, the G6 Belt has no unsightly holes or belt flap. The belt looks great with everything from jeans to business casual.
Comfort: In addition to looking great, the G6 Belt feels great. The belt is low profile and light weight producing a fit so comfortable, it's easy to forget you are even wearing a belt. The friction lock gives complete control of the fit so you never get stuck between belt holes again.
Minimal: Made from only two parts, the minimal design not only provides an amazingly clean look, it simplifies manufacturing and keeps production costs low.
No Slip: The friction lock was engineered to maintain a solid grip on the belt all day long. The belt has been designed and thoroughly tested and will not slip throughout the day or over the life of the belt.
Recyclable: The G6 belt is made from 100% recyclable materials.
Made In the USA: We manufacture our products and source our materials locally ensuring the highest product quality and quick turn around time.
The buckles will be initially offered in red, blue, silver and black. Should we exceed our funding goal, we will offer more colors by popular demand.
The black strap is double layered and stitched with a different color on each side: black on one and an optional color on the other. This makes each strap reversible with a plain black side and a colorful stitched side. The strap thread colors will be initially offered in 5 colors: red, blue, lime green, dark pink and grey. Should we exceed our funding goal, we will offer more colors by popular demand.

Locking Mechanism Details
The friction lock of a standard webbing style belt looks something like the picture below. The green arrows represent the primary tension force put on a belt strap and the red arrows indicate the points of friction that keep the belt from sliding loose. One can imagine as the green arrows see more force, the strap begins to straighten, increasing the friction at those points and locking the belt. This style of buckle has 3 disadvantages: 1) it ends up being fairly bulky, 2) the strap must be permanently attached to the buckle and 3) there's always a belt flap hanging out the front.
The G6 Friction lock is different. In the sketch below the red arrows represent the points of friction on the strap and the green arrows indicate the tension force. In this design there is also a small blue arrow representing a slight force of the body pushing on the strap. This small force is what holds the G6 belt in place without any slipping. Because the strap goes through a tight-fitting slot with lots of friction, a small amount of force from the body keeps the strap from slipping.
This may be a bad analogy, but its kind of like trying to hold a horse with a rope. A horse could easily pull you around wherever he wanted no matter how hard you may try to stop him, but if you took that rope and wrapped it around a post or a tree trunk a few times to introduce some friction, the horse could be contained easily. In fact you could probably hold the rope in place with one finger. That is essentially the concept of the G6 friction lock. It has the added advantages that its 1) lower profile, 2) extremely simple, 3) the buckle doesn't have to be permanently connected and 4) there is no belt flap hanging out.

Risks and challenges
We understand that every project comes with risks and challenges and we have gone to great lengths to minimize foreseeable problems. The simplistic design of the G6 Belt minimizes the steps in the fabrication process, significantly reducing the amount of potential manufacturing issues.
To maintain a realistic schedule on reward fulfillment, we have partnered with an excellent manufacturer that takes pride in quality and timeliness. We also have backup vendors should they be needed. In addition, we have allotted ourselves ample time to deal with setbacks without pushing our timeline back.
In preparation for this Kickstarter project, we have done small prototype runs to inspect quality, verify functionality and, eliminate potential issues.Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
