It’s hard to believe that one year ago this week we launched the fundraising campaign for The Giver. Thank you again for your support of Minnesota Opera's first-ever campaign on Kickstarter. Your generosity helped make this new opera for kids a success!
The Project Opera members are back in rehearsal, and will perform three one-act operas February 22-23 at The Lab Theater, just next door to the Opera Center. The works include Stephen Paulus’ Shoes for the Santo Niño (Paulus is a former MN resident and U of MN alumni), Benjamin Britten’s Noye’s Fludde (2013 is the centenary of Britten’s birth) and Kurt Weill’s Down in the Valley (Weill’s other works include Street Scene and The Threepenny Opera). Minnesota Opera also brings opera education and community outreach to greater Minnesota. This past fall, Bergen Baker, our Teaching Artist, was in Austin, MN for a successful school and community residency. For a video of this exciting effort, which brought the magic of opera to more than 3,000 kids and 1,500 adults, follow this link: http://youtu.be/O2hSI0fEoik
The quality of Minnesota Opera’s programs and their ability to impact the lives of thousands of families every year is truly thanks to generous financial contributions. If you would like to continue your support of education at Minnesota Opera, please contact me directly at firstname.lastname@example.org or 612-342-9569. Every gift is so important, and makes an incredible difference.
We hope to see you at the opera very soon!
All the best,
Individual Gifts Officer
