In 1971, independent horror film “The Legend of Boggy Creek” was unleashed on the public. Featuring a hair-covered monster that terrified the populace of the tiny town of Fouke, Arkansas, the movie went on to become one of the most financially successful independents ever produced. Few who saw the movie realized it was based on true stories… Now, in 2016, the production company behind "Minerva Monster" and "Beast of Whitehall", will bring forth the truth behind the legend of Boggy Creek with their third film, "Boggy Creek Monster."
"Boggy Creek Monster" is the third chapter in the Small Town Monsters series of films that focus on bizarre creature sightings in and around small towns. Filmed using state-of-the-art equipment and featuring researcher and author Lyle Blackburn, "Boggy Creek Monster" is the biggest film in the series so far. Delving into the swampy waters that surround the town of Fouke, the Small Town Monsters crew will set out to get to the bottom of the stories that helped inspire "The Legend of Boggy Creek."
If you back this project, you'll be helping us obtain the highest quality equipment possible to capture this story. This equipment will help us capture the eerie (and oddly beautiful) locale of Fouke, Arkansas and the Sulfur River Bottoms.
On the whole, what we spend on these films is considerably less than any other projects of this kind. We travel light, work fast, and make do with what we have. All we need is enough to get the story told in the way it deserves, and we hope you'll be a part of that!
In exchange, you'll receive some amazing rewards! When we set out to make our second film, "Beast of Whitehall," it was with the idea that it would be a reward for our next Kickstarter project. And now it is! You'll be able to see the second film in the Small Town Monsters series a full month ahead of its official release date of April 1st. On March 3rd, you'll have access to "Beast of Whitehall" and be able to call yourself one of the few involved in this special sneak preview.
In addition, we're giving you special behind-the-scenes access to the production of "Boggy Creek Monster." You'll be able to watch daily video updates direct from Fouke, Arkansas with the Small Town Monsters crew and Lyle Blackburn as they're working on the movie. This is only available to our backers and will NOT be an afterthought. We're taking YOU with us to the land of swamp monsters.
We're also including apparel (designed by Matt Harris and Sam Shearon), the official Boggy Creek Monster poster (by Sam Shearon), engraved pens (by Ron Breedlove), memorabilia, and more!
STRETCH GOALS ADDED
STRETCH GOAL 1: $11,000 STRETCH REWARD 1 (added to all backers who will be receiving physical rewards) Die-Cut window stickers designed by Matt Harris

STRETCH GOAL 3: $16,000 STRETCH REWARD 3 (for backers receiving a physical copy of Boggy Creek Monster who wish to own the film on Blu-Ray instead of DVD)
Risks and challenges
There's a lot that goes into making a movie--especially one that is as big and detail-oriented as "Boggy Creek Monster" needs to be. Thankfully, we've already made two other Small Town Monsters films, and with each one we've been learning how to deal with obstacles that come up along the way.
Better sound, better picture, better storytelling... with "Boggy Creek Monster" and an actual budget with which to work, we'll finally be able to show off just how great a fully funded Small Town Monsters film can be. After all, the previous two were shot and edited entirely out-of-pocket. Imagine what we can accomplish with real funds!
We'll face some challenges along the way, of course. Transportation to Arkansas will be rough with a crew of (hungry) people. Editing a project of this size will also be a bear. After all, on this particular project we have loads of interviews to conduct and b-roll to shoot.
However, we'll handle it the way we do everything else. by putting our head down and telling the best dang Bigfoot stories we can!
One of the biggest problems we faced when launching this Kickstarter was how to handle the distribution of rewards. Boggy Creek Monster starts filming in the Spring and won't be done with post production until Winter. What we've decided to do is send out rewards in two batches. You'll get all of your rewards (except "Boggy Creek Monster" DVDs) in Spring, 2016. Then, once Boggy Creek Monster is done you'll receive your DVD.
While we don't have a specific release date yet, it could be as soon as Winter 2016.
The Small Town Monsters team has this goal: to tell the best stories we can. With all that we've learned over the last two years of filmmaking you can rest easy knowing that you're helping us create an amazing film.Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
