A big thank you to all of you who backed this campaign. We're sad that we had to cancel it, but we still strongly believe in this game and we're definitely not giving up. We hope to see you all on the new campaign for Fix the World.
After a successful Kickstarter campaign for our humorous argumentation game Debatable, we're now back with a new project.
Fix the World is an easy-to-learn, quick, and hilarious little game that works perfectly as an ice-breaker at parties, something fun to do at family gatherings, or as a light filler game when you're tired of those heavy strategy games during your game nights.
And who knows, you might even come up with a really good idea that actually solves a problem. It's worth a shot!
At the start of the game one player is randomly selected to be the investor for the first round and receives the Investor Card. The investor then draws a Problem Card and shows it to the group. In this example the problem is POLLUTION.
Now, the other players have 1 minute each to pitch an awesome solution to the problem. However, there is a (ridiculous) catch. They MUST base their solution on at least ONE of two completely random keywords found on Solution Cards. In the example below you will need to come up with an idea to stop pollution using DINOSAUR DNA and/or SUPER GLUE.
When everyone has pitched their ideas, the investor is free to ask a few follow-up questions and must then decide which idea to invest in. The investor gives the player whose idea they liked the most a 100 million dollar Investment Card, and the player with the second best idea receives a 50 million investment card, while the remaining players receive a polite "Don't call us, we'll call you"-card.
Now, the investor card passes to the next player in clockwise order, and a new round starts with a new problem and new solutions. When everyone has been the investor once, or twice, depending on the number of players, the game ends. All players reveal their investment cards and the player(s) with the highest total investment wins. That’s it!
Wanna try it out? On our website you can! It's a simplified version of the basic game concept, and you miss out on the whole social aspect of the game of course, but it lets you try solving problems using random keywords, and you can also see which solutions others have come up with.
The game is very easy to learn, but rewards creativity and quick thinking, and is guaranteed to be a laughter fest as stressed players pitch ridiculous solutions, and then try to argue for their ideas to win the investment cards.
Fix the World is designed to be a fun party game that everyone can play, but just like our game Debatable it also raises awareness for important issues in the world today.
The world has a lot of problems, and media usually only report the doom and gloom, painting a very bleak picture. With Fix the World we hope that we can get people talking more about possible solutions, rather than just complaining about the problems, and of course have a lot of fun while doing it.
We don't really believe in Kickstarter Exclusive content that change how the core game works, however we still think it's nice to be able to offer something exclusive for those of you who believe in our idea at an early stage.
So, apart from the base game, we will offer a special edition that includes an extra card and an expansion deck, as well as a personal edition that will make your copy of Fix the World the only copy in existence.
If you want two copies of a pledge level, simply double the amount when making your pledge, and you can of course also triple the amount for three copies, quadruple it for four, etc. Or, if you for example want one special edition of the game, and one regular version as well, just add $22 to your special edition pledge.
Shipping is still free regardless of how many games you want, but Kickstarter does not allow more than 10 copies per pledge.
If you have any questions about our pledge levels, don't hesitate to send us a message here on Kickstarter and ask us.
Addons are simple, especially in this case since we're offering just one addon. So, if you also want our political party game Debatable (it's really fun), simply add $20 to your pledge. That is the same price the original backers paid + $1, and of course cheaper than retail. Free shipping worldwide is included in the price.
For example: If you want both Fix the World and Debatable, pledge for a total amount of $42 ($22+$20).
To learn more about Debatable, please check out our successful Kickstarter campaign, or have a look at this nice little review from Youtuber Actualol who awarded Debatable with the number 7 spot in his best party games of 2017 roundup.
Please see our shipping cost chart below to learn how much shipping costs to your country.
Yeah you read it right! FREE shipping is included for ALL backers regardless of where you live.
Special information for backers from South America, Central America, Africa and India: Based on experience we have learned that shipping to these parts of the world can be troublesome. We will make one free delivery attempt, but if your shipment is lost, we will contact you and ask you to pay an extra fee for more expensive and safer delivery options, or refund your pledge if you prefer that. We apologize for this, but this is the best solution we can think of to be able to offer free shipping to everyone. We hope you understand.
For USA and Canada we will mainly work with fulfillment companies to make sure your rewards are sent with tracking number from within your country, which is very safe and without customs fees. For the EU, we will handle shipping ourselves, and since we're in the EU, there will be no customs charges.
We also have a lot of experience sending things to non-EU Europe, Australia and New Zealand, and we promise that we will handle ALL costs related to shipping and customs to these locations as well. And that means we can put all these nice stickers on our campaign. Yay!
For the rest of the world any fees related to customs will be your responsibility. This has however never been a problem during our previous campaigns, so most likely you will not pay anything extra.
We think one of the best things about Kickstarter is that our backers can be part of the project. So, we have come up with a fun expansion deck for the game called "First World Problems" that you can help us create. Just as the name implies, it will be an additional deck of cards containing not big global problems, but smaller issues that frustrate and annoy us.
This expansion will be Kickstarter exclusive, and it will be included for all backers who select either the special edition, the party game pack or the personal edition pledge level.
Now, to make this expansion extra fun, we will let YOU help us come up with the problems. First, we'll ask you to send in suggestions of first world problems that we will add to our list of problems. Then, when we feel the list is long enough, we will vote about which problems to include.
The expansion will contain 10 cards from the start, but by helping us spread the word about the project and reaching the achievements below, it can be expanded all the way up to 25 cards - which of course is our goal.
We need your help to spread the word about the project, and in return we'll expand the expansion. A win-win situation! The expansion will contain 10 cards to begin with, but we will add 1 more card each time we hit an achievment below, up to a total of 25 cards. As soon as we hit one of the achievements in a category, we'll of course add a new one to strive for.
To help us reach the achivements above, this is what you can do:
- Like our Facebook page and SHARE one of our posts about the campaign.
- Follow us on Twitter and RETWEET a post about our awesome campaign to your followers.
- Follow us on Instagram, then POST an "I backed Fix the World"-image (found in our feed) and tag @mindmadegames in the text below the image.
- SUBSCRIBE to our mailing list.
- CONVINCE A FRIEND TO BACK US, or a few, using any means possible. Even if it's only for a dollar. Every backer counts, and who knows, maybe they'll become interested in upgrading their pledge too. Please note that for this to count towards the achievements, we also ask you to send us a message here on Kickstarter and let us know who you recruited.

Let's not jinx anything by talking about stretch goals already! If things are going really well, we have some stretch goals planned, but until that happens, let's not talk about about this topic. *knock on wood*
Mindmade Games is Magnus and Elin Holmgren. We’re in our mid-30s and we’ve been glued to each other since 2002, and in 2016 we finally got married. We’re both from the deep-frozen northern parts of Sweden, but we’ve lived just outside the capital Stockholm for 15 years now.
About three years ago we started a game company called Tingletouch Games that creates sexy and romantic games for couples. In total we’ve run five successful Kickstarter campaigns for our three games, Bedroom Battle, Dare Duel and Luck & Love.
Last spring we both decided to become full-time game designers and expanded our business by starting up Mindmade Games, which is the name we will use when creating fun games that everyone can play. About a year ago we ran a successful Kickstarter campaign for our political party game Debatable.
Elin is a former restaurant manager who knows how to run a business and Magnus has previously worked as a film editor and graphic designer, but most importantly we both love playing games. Everything from fun simple card games to serious strategic board games. Some of our favorite games are Agricola, Puerto Rico, Pandemic and Twilight Imperium, to name a few.
The three other members of the team for Fix the World are:
EJ Dela Cruz - A really talented illustrator responsible for all the artwork in the game. And if you pick the "Personal Edition" pledge level he will happily draw YOU on the investor card.
Carolyn Comer - Carolyn is our fun-loving friend from Texas who will help us out with promoting the game in the US.
Karin Kohlmeier - Our trusty American editor / proofreader who makes sure all the text in the game is typo-free and grammatically correct.

Risks and challenges
This will be our eighth Kickstarter campaign, and all the previous seven have been successful, except the first one. (Since we had no idea what we were doing back then). But now we can actually say that we know what we are doing!
Of course every new project will have new challenges, but we feel we have enough experience to overcome whatever challenges this project has in store for us. We know what we need to do, who to work with, and some of the many pitfalls to avoid. Unless there is some type of natural disaster or similar, you will get your game(s)!
Finally, don’t hesitate to ask any questions you want about our campaign and we’ll reply as quickly as we can.
Thank you for reading all the way here!
