As a rule, if you can smell chemicals in the water, then don't pour that water into your Water Wasp. If you smell chemicals, leave that water in the sunlight (in a dark colored bucket) for a day or two until you no longer smell anything. Why? Because if you can smell something in the water, that means there are volatiles in there, and they need to boil out of the water (to get into into the air) before you can solar distill the water. If you put that water in the Water Wasp while it still smell, then the chemicals will just recondense along with the clean water. But most everything else that doesn't smell, like mercury, nickle, salt, radioactive emitters, arsenic, pathogens, viruses, cadmium, etc., will be removed just fine by Water Wasp.
