Make/100: Mixed-Up Mixtapes
$880
35
I have created a lot of music over the past 10 years. I want to take that music, add some stuff to to it, twist it up, turn it inside out, and boil it down to one single cassette tape. Then I want to make exactly 100 copies of that cassette tape and give them to 100 of you. Are you in? Yes!? Cool, stop reading and back this project now! Not quite there yet? Read on...
The Plan
The plan is to take all of the music in the Rainbow Kitten library (as well as a few new sounds and samples), load it up into the sampler, and make something new out of it. I'll be creating two 30 to 45 minute long non-stop sonic experiences to live on each side of cassette tape. Why cassette tapes? Because it doesn't make sense! Admit it, you want to buy cassette tapes again. Now you can! Don't worry; I'll also send you a digital versions of the tracks to hold you over until you find your old walkman.

What Music?
I've got two video game soundtracks: Orion Trail and Enemy Mind, two Christmas albums, an album made completely on an android phone, an album made exclusively from crowd-sourced samples, an album made with nothing but a Korg Kaossilator 2, and a couple more albums of assorted weirdo-electronic eclectic weirdness.
Why me? Why Kickstarter?
Because you're awesome and I like you. Also because I need money. I'm going to spend somewhere in the neighborhood of $400 getting these cassettes made. I'll also spend many hours making the music and putting cassettes into padded envelopes and walking them to the post office before kissing them goodbye so I'm going to need a fair amount of band-aids and chap-sticks and maybe even some new shoes. Help me out.
Are you in?
Yes!? Cool, stop reading and back this project now! Not quite there yet? That's okay. Think about it some more, maybe you'll come back later. Even if you don't, we're still cool. Thanks!
Risks and challenges
There's not a whole lot of risk here. This will be my fourth musical Kickstarter and I've never failed to finish one and deliver the rewards in a reasonable amount of time.
The worst thing that can happen is that you don't like the music. That would be sad. However, the beauty of the cassette format is that you can always tape over it with music that you do like.
But really, I think you'll like the music I put on it for you.
