Peek Case enables app developers to build apps that allow a phones camera to be functional without it having to be held. Thats why the product is called Peek, it was designed so the camera “peeks” above the top of the case. I have a few apps up my sleeve for early next year but would also love to see what the developer community can build.
Apps I would love to see built:
- An app that scans the crowd with facial recognition and reminds me of the names of the people in attendance.
- An app that time lapses my day with a picture every 30 seconds.
- "Google Glass" like apps but without the social alienation. :)
- "GoPro" like functionality but using the smartphone I already have.
- Got a idea for an app? Let me know in the comments!

Why Peek Case?
The idea for Peek came about out of personal need. I could not find a fabric smartphone case that fit my active lifestyle while also allowing me to enjoy the sleekness and thinness of my phone while using it. Phones are now beautifully designed, so why would I want to cover it up and increase it’s size with a cheap plastic case. I noticed that phones are getting bigger, jeans are getting tighter (at least mine are), and pockets are getting smaller and I wanted a case that would allow me to wear my phone instead of cramming it into my pocket.
My goal on Kickstarter is to get Peek Cases into the hands of early adopters and developers as soon as possible. I want you to be involved, whether to provide feedback on the design, or to develop new apps that take advantage of the cool way your phone gets worn.
I'm already making improvements
I've been using my Peek Case prototypes for a few weeks now and have pinpointed a few areas for refinement and improvement, all of which will be complete by the time our funding closes. For example we have figured out a way to keep the case tight against your chest with a strap so you can use it while running!! Every backer on Kickstarter will get a chest strap!
Also we have had a number of backers want the ability to record video horizontally so we are adding loops to the bottom of the Peek Case as well so you can wear it sideways.

FYI - What does it take to make a Peek Case?
Lanyard- 4 pieces
Phone Safety Strap: 3 pieces
Peek Case: 35 pieces
Total: 42 individual, custom cut fabric or hardware pieces!!!
Manufacturing and Shipping
We're manufacturing and shipping the Peek Case out of our home state of Colorado - USA. Our fabrics, hardware, strapping, and personalization are also being sourced, with help of professional sourcing companies, from here in the United States. How cool is that!!
Pre-Launch: We have finalized all the pieces of the Peek Case and selected vendors. Prototypes have been created with our selected manufacturing partner using samples of the chosen fabrics and hardware.
Launch-Funding Close: As the campaign progresses our manufacturing partner and sourcing companies will update the manufacturing plan to address increases in expected units. Additionally fabric die's (to cut the fabric in bulk) will be created to increase the output of our manufacturing. Any limited availability or long delivery items will be pre-ordered.
Post-Funding Close: We will place our materials order and schedule our initial order for manufacturing. Pledgers will be asked for what size (iPhone or Samsung) and quantities ordered for manufacturing.
Early December: Manufacturing commences and orders are sent out as units are completed(benefits of local manufacturing!). Note: Our manufacturing partner has made amazing backpacks and outdoor gear for some of the top brands. We selected them because they can handle a small success as well as ramp up to meet a huge success.
A special thank you.

Risks and challenges
I have worked very hard to de-risk this campaign as much as I can before starting. Having built numerous companies that take advantage of the intersection of "bits & atoms", such as Skinit.com and Original Wraps, I have a through knowledge of how to build things and have worked to insure any expected issues in manufacturing have already been addressed. Additionally I have contingency plans for material shortages, and delays in sewing/manufacturing.
As a veteran of the military I very passionately wanted to build the whole Ghost Gear line, and specifically Peek Case, not only in the United States but in my home state of Colorado. I have partnered with one of the top local sewing companies and have run 100's of prototypes through the manufacturing process. Additionally I am leveraging local materials sourcing companies to insure that high quality and consistent supplies are the norm.
However, there is always the risk of unforeseen challenges when manufacturing physical products. If an unexpected issue arises, I am resolved to doing everything I can to get as close to the delivery schedule as possible.
I plan to place the initial order for Peek Cases as well as the branded promotional items near the end of the campaign with the hope of delivering on the pledges and awards in December.
I appreciate your support, and am excited to have you join in this campaign!Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
