What's all this then?
My name's Mike Finley. I'm a singer-songwriter from Oxford, and I need your help to make the album I've been hearing in my head since I was 15.
I've been writing and singing songs for almost half of my life now. It's something I love doing and something I'm completely unable to stop doing. All the greatest moments in my life, all of the wonderful people I've met, all of the greatest joys... they've all been down to music. It helped me to connect with my friends and family in ways I never thought possible. And my songs have helped me explore parts of my brain I had no idea existed.
The Way We Are?
A few years ago I thought I'd made it - I was in Texas, I'd finished recording my last EP - "The Way We Are" with some amazingly talented people. One of my songs ended up being covered by a chap named Chris Tomlin, who put it on his album "Hello Love", which sold more than 500,000 copies and got nominated for a grammy. Sadly nothing more came of it, but I've been playing these songs since then, still just as proud as ever of them
I've got a whole new bunch of songs that I've been playing live, shaping, and crafting and I'm finally ready to record them for the world to hear. The title - "New Day" - sums up exactly how I feel. A new awakening, a fresh start.
But this is where I need your help! Recording is an expensive and tough old business and anything you can do to help would be insanely appreciated. I know it's a lot to ask but if we work together I know it'll be worth it, and I'll do everything I can to thank you.
I need money for recording and studio time, musicians and engineers and a producer to help craft it all, and mixing it all together.
I'll keep you all updated throughout the process. It'll be fun! Stressful, but the good kind of stressful.
You've all been so brilliant to me over the years, just need a bit more support. Thank you so much for your time! Hope to hear from you soon
Risks and challenges
With anything like this there are risks. Time runs out insanely quickly, things cost more than we think, speakers explode during particularly powerful guitar solos... but getting through the hard times makes getting to the good times even more satisfying!Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
