"...if it took anything else off, it would be on a public indecency charge!" — Alison Cross, This Game of Thrones
"...the clean design, bold color palette, and patterns throughout the deck really caught my eye." — K, Her Sixth Circle
"I found [the Locus Tarot] really innovative." — Chloë, TABITarot
Bridge the gap between truth and intuition with the Locus Tarot, a gorgeous, minimalist tarot deck that enhances intuition, creativity, and self-discovery.
The Locus Tarot steps back and lets the seer do the seeing, eschewing tradition by discarding the sea journeys and dark women of medieval peasantry, yet strengthening tradition by revealing the vast patterns of the universe the tarot has always held behind the veil. When you peer through the eye of the Locus, you see the vast architecture of reality exposed.
The Locus is great for beginners just learning the tarot, as well as for experts seeking mastery of it.

The Locus Tarot maps the overarching forces of our reality, taking shape where ancient wisdom meets modern thought. Requiring only a few simple theories to interpret, wielders of the Locus experience the tarot unobstructed, exploring the relationship between outer and inner, positive and negative, elements, and numerology in the macrocosm and microcosm alike.
I see the tarot not primarily as a method of fortune-telling, but as a means to self-discovery, so regardless of your background, the included 50-page booklet will likely be as refreshing as it is informative.
The booklet begins by delving into the essential theories of the Locus, namely the four elements, the ten numbers of numerology, and the three binary pairs—positive/negative, outer/inner, macro/micro. Understand these theories, and you can apply the Locus Tarot to every situation imaginable without having to worry about your perspective being swayed by misleading imagery or rote-memorized definitions.
The booklet continues with a selection of spreads designed to be as transparent as the Locus Tarot itself, allowing readers using any deck to introspect with even greater ease. Included in this section is a clarification of the classic Celtic Cross spread.
The booklet ends with a twist on the traditional card reference—rather than making any claims to describing a card's absolute meaning, we instead apply the cards to a set of problem domains as a way of helping readers learn how to use the theories of self-discovery seamlessly and artfully.
Minor Arcana: The Minors represent 10 points of conflict along the Hero's Journey. The suit indicates how the reader stands to grow. Combine one of the ten conflicts and one of the four suits to interpret the card.
Royalty Arcana: The Royalty represent character archetype sometimes suggesting an outside influence, but sometimes suggesting an aspect of oneself. The suit indicates the character's external methods and the rank (Page as air, Knight as fire, Queen as water, King as earth) indicate the character's internal motivations.
Major Arcana: The Majors represent forces, theme, and preoccupations in one's life. Most are interpreted as a primary element (center disc) influenced by another element (tiny dots). The four majors with one element (the row beginning with The Fool) represent the element in microcosm, and the four majors with overlapping circles (the row beginning with The Bridge) represent the element in macrocosm.
To read the whole deck, you need only know the meaning of the ten numbers, the four elements, the inner/outer pair for Royalty, the macro/micro pair for the Majors, and the positive/negative pair for cards drawn reversed. 20 theories, 160 intersections, infinite meanings.

The Locus Tarot is designed by Mike Stop Continues, an artist and truth-seeker from Brooklyn, NY. He came to the tarot very young and, having discovered the potential applications of this fascinating tool, set his sights on clarifying many of the tarot's patterns while at the same time curing readers of the many problems which plague the tarot's use.
This Game of Thrones interviewed Mike about the Royalty and the symbology of the deck.
Her Sixth Circle interviewed Mike about the design process. Mike also gives a sample reading with the deck.
Thanks to all the backers of this campaign! You rock!
Risks and challenges
I've minimized risk for this campaign. The deck, booklet, box, poster, and pins are all tried and tested. The printers are all lined up and ready to go. My schedule is open to ship all the goodies. If problems with any of these facets should arise, I'll be able to easily correct our course.Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
