About

The future of construction is now!

Construction grade 3D printers are popping up all over the world.  We are a start up company located in Utah that has partners all over America and even out in Hawaii. Our mission is to make affordable, compact 3D printers which can be used to make strong versatile structures.

Our Story

In the Fall of 2017 Schuyler Spears began contacting 3D printer manufacturing companies around the world.  The only company he found that was willing to sell him a machine was BetAbram in Slovenia.  At the time they were offering a 24’ by 24’ printer for $170,000.

In the Fall of 2018, BetAbram was no longer selling their small or even medium size printer, so now the price tag was close to $400,000.  After talking extensively with long time friend, David Schlesinger, they decided the best way forward was to build their own machine. They began reaching out to engineers across the country to accomplish this.  After much research, conversation, and negotiation they decided to hire Brook Drumm and Philip Mally in Sacramento, California.

In the course of their investigations they began conversing with Ben Magelsen, a geopolymer/materials scientist who also happened to live in the same city as Schuyler in Utah.

We decided to begin our venture into 3D printing with a focus on unpermitted structures such as sheds because they do not require building permits.  We view this as a way to familiarize municipalities and the general public as a whole with the benefits of 3D printing structures; with paths leading to advanced levels of energy efficient and self sustaining housing.

Why we are raising this money

We are so close, almost all research, design and planning is done. Your investment is for parts and labor, so that the first Shed Bot can be constructed. Equipped to print with a 14' gantry and extendable tracks to allow the printing of long runs. Combined with reference point technologies the limit is your imagination.

The Team

Brook Drumm

  • Was CEO and founder of PrintrBot
  • Also one of the hosts for the All American Makers TV Series
  • Before that he was an app developer

Philip Mally

  • Teacher at Hacker Lab
  • Worked on many projects for corporations including Sierra College and  Engineered Medical Technologies
  • Professional 3D Printing service for industrial prototyping

Leo Schlesinger

  • Leo is a second year engineering student who has taken classes St Micheal's College and UVM in Burlington, Vermont
  • Doing R+D in labs on campus and connecting to a community of experts that are helping us refine our designs
  • Spent a year at Green Mountain Technical Career Center for construction technologies

David Schlesinger

  • Currently works as a project developer at E2 solar in Dennis, Massachusetts
  • He has contracted over 1.5 million dollars of work for E2 this year
  • Over 25 years of construction experience from form to finish

Schulyer Spears

  • Schuyler is a licensed contractor in Salt Lake City
  • He has been researching Construction Grade 3d Printers for a 2 years now
  • Having been in construction for most of his life, he is fascinated by the potential he sees from developments in 3d

Business Plan

Once we have finalized the plans, we will begin to build our first machine in California. We are exploring all of our options to fund this. Including selling blocks and finding a business accelerator. After the machine is built it will be shipped to Utah, where Ben and Leo will perfect the mix. Printing 10 structures in Utah over the span of 3 months with a local contractor named David. Building the capital to send another machine to Hawaii, where Leo and his crew will print subdivisions. Leaving the first machine in the hands of David in Utah, where he will continue printing structures and generating revenue. All the while working to build enough funds to commence phase 2 of our companies plan. Which includes a stationary multi-material printer.

We have been receiving a lot of questions and interest from others looking to build 3d printing machines that are construction grade, and once we complete and pass a finite element analysis(FEA), we will be giving the opportunity to others to build a machine alongside us.

If you want more infor contact Leo Schlesinger at Leo.MightyShed@gmail.com

If you would like your own machine, there is no better opportunity.

  • If you are interested in getting a full copy of the CAD Drawings when they are complete, you have the opportunity to donate $5,000 now and we will give you them when the machine is built and prints its first structure.
  • If you donate $9,000, you will receive a full set of CAD plan, the coding for 3 structures, a full cost analysis of all the parts needed, our findings from the finite element analysis report, and access to a supply of the perfect aggregate mix to use with the machine. This will be after we print our first structure so you also have proof of concept for your package. Along with a promise to not release plans to anyone else in your area for a year, giving you a monopoly of sorts.
  • If you'd like to buy a full machine, contact David Schlesinger. He will be head of sales. We are hoping to have our Shed Bot on the market by September 2019. Early estimates suggest the price for a Shed Bot will be about $80,000.
