That's right, Beckers!

Once again we slip the bonds of the printed (web)page and enter a dimension of sound and pure energy… In other words, we made another podcast!

So put on those big ol’ Beck-style headphones and listen in as the regular 8-4 crew recaps all the community updates and events since the close of our Kickstarter campaign, then stick around for an all-new in-depth interview with Mighty No. 9 Director Koji Imaeda! Hear what’s been happening in development of the game over the last few months, and where it currently stands -- story elements and style, gameplay (dat dash? dat wall hang?), Inafune’s reaction to the first really playable versions, tandem boss attack possibilities, and more!

...Are you still here reading? Why aren’t you listening!

Special shout out to Comcept Community Manager Dina for helping organize the whole interview and all the Becker questions (hope you can join us next month!)

As always, let us know what you think and what you’d like to HEAR more of in the future -- at the official forums, on our Twitter account @MightyNo9, or at our Facebook page, or just shout it real loud, maybe we’ll hear? ...Nah, probably better to post online instead.

And in one final bit of exciting news, we’re proud to say that our esteemed leader Keiji Inafune is scheduled to speak at this year’s D.I.C.E. game design summit! The talk will be streamed live on Thursday, Feb. 6th, at 10:45 am PST, and you can watch it at

Until next time!(`_´)ゞ

Every hardened 2D platformer aficionado knows about the indie action-platformer hit La Mulana, right? Well yes or no, if you’re reading this you should be interested to hear that developer Nigoro just launched a Kickstarter campaign for a sequel, La-Mulana 2!

As the head of a Japanese indie studio himself, Inafune is 100% behind the project, as you can see in a video message he sent to support them, right here -- check it out, and the Kickstarter, and if you like what you see, show them some Mighty love! (`_´)ゞ

Guys check out ReVeN. It's a really cool

    7. Nexar Donadio on January 30, 2014

Thanks giga I will give it another try for sure.

    8. giga-ganon on January 30, 2014

you don't need a guide, you just need to be focused about everything and read carefully the tablets, they're hint for EVERY puzzle in the game! That what makes it awesome! Everything is well thought, you always have the solution written somewhere, you just need to watch your surounding, background and analyse everything with the item you buy at the village, and you advance little by little! And you feel great when you solve something by yourself! Keep in mind that this is an open world, so you can go to many place, but don't necessary have the right thing to complete them! (and there's an item than you can get relatively quick, in the first zone, that let you teleport to every savepoints you crossed!)

Just do the game again and read the tips from the manual (you can find it on the official website), the main thing about this game is to think! In castlevania you just need to advance... i love them but they're relatively easy! I don't see what you're referring to when you said it's lacking in comparison of castlevania (maybe the fast gameplay... but that's all)

    9. Alan Wilkinson on January 30, 2014

Hmm. podcast hasn't hit the iTunes feed yet...

    10. Nexar Donadio on January 30, 2014

Yes! I played the game for about 1 or 2 hours without any guides and yes I was able to save at certain points but got stuck at some point where I was completely to get back and absolutely no clue on what I have to do. My point is that this game looks like a castlevania but lacks a lot of features that made castlevania good. I will give the game another chance probably some day but the first impression was not good and looks like it is the kind of game that you need to play with a guide or waste a lot of hours trying to find out what you have to do or where you can actually go.

Nexar, did you actually play La Mulana beyond the title screen? Everything you said is not just an opinion, but flat out wrong.

@Nexar I suggest looking up DeceasedCrab's Let's Play of La Mulana, if only for a couple of episodes, and you might very well change your mind on that game. I remember playing the pre-remake version and being confused and leaving it aside to never play again over the complexity of the beginning. But a few years later I saw some Let's play of the remake and was amazed at how awesome the game was.

    14. giga-ganon on January 30, 2014

you didn't play enough... not at all... 1 hour certainly.... you must find the map in every zone (plus you find them easily, they are not part of the hard puzzles)
And seriously? no save? there's a save point right a the beginning! you can save at one check point in every zone (like super metroid...)

I would like to see you guys supporting Unsung Story. That's a great game that needs to be made.

    16. Nexar Donadio on January 30, 2014

Thanks for the update but I will pass on Mulana 2. Bought the first game at steam sale for just $7 and didn't like it. No map, no save and they pretend that you memorize an entire map of the size of super metroid in your head? no thank you... a game in were you need to die 10000 times just to clear the first level it's not fun.
