SPECIAL SUNDAY UPDATE: MIGHTY GOOD MIGHTY SOUNDTRACK NEWS!
Mighty Becker backers, fans, and friends,
We know Sunday is supposed to be a day of rest, but with but just 2 days left until the end of our Kickstarter, we couldn’t stop now -- especially not with the announcement we can finally make today: Mega Man 2 composer Takashi Tateishi is officially on board for Mighty No. 9!
Hold on, let's try that again, this time in a way more appropriate to this news:
MEGA MAN 2 COMPOSER TAKASHI TATEISHI IS OFFICIALLY ON BOARD FOR MIGHTY NO. 9!!!!!! :D
(above) Inti Creates’ Ippo Yamada (Mighty No. 13, left, himself an accomplished music-man on games like Resident Evil and Mega Man 9 and 10) with Tateishi-san (Mighty No. 26)!
Tateishi-san’s tunes are the type you can’t get out of your head, the kind you find yourself humming in the shower, or covering in your band -- it’s no accident they’ve become some of the best-known songs in all of gaming! He's now the CEO of his own company and (understandably) a very busy man, but he spent the last few weeks reworking his upcoming schedule to make time for us and this project, so we are incredibly lucky to have him contributing to Mighty No. 9!
Between him and Mega Man 1 composer Matsumae (who did our main theme already) and Inti Creates’ action-music veteran Yamada (who made all of this possible!), can you just imagine how AMAZING the Mighty No. 9 soundtrack is going to be?! Even better, all three of these game-music legends are good friends, so they are super excited to be working together again! Ahhhh -- we can’t wait to hear what this trio come up with! (And don't forget, at the $40 tier and up everyone gets a digital version of the full game soundtrack!)
We hope you agree this is a really big deal, both to us personally as fans, and for the project overall -- so we SUPER appreciate any and all help you can give to spreading this happy news!
Also, what are your favorite Tateishi songs up until now? What are your hopes for the soundtrack? Be sure to also let us and each other know what you think in the comments, and on Twitter and Facebook!
P.S. If you want to read more about Tateishi-san, check out this interview he did with Matsumae-san, talking about their days back at Capcom working on the early Mega Man soundtracks!
P.S.S. Many people have been asking what kind of packaging the physical disc version of Mighty No. 9 will come in -- we can confirm now it will come in a proper DVD case!
COMMUNITY SPOTLIGHT: OTHER COOL STARTERS TO KICK!
Of course we want all the attention we can get on Mighty No. 9 as our Kickstarter campaign wraps up, but we still want to do what we can to help support other awesome indie gaming projects we think our fans would enjoy --
Games like Hyper Light Drifter -- just check out their description: “Hyper Light Drifter is a 2D Action RPG in the vein of the best 8-bit and 16-bit classics, with modernized mechanics and designs on a much grander scale.” Sound familiar? And it’s not just talk: check out the amazing screens and footage they’re showing and you’ll see this project clearly shares a lot of the same sensibilities as Mighty No. 9! Do yourself a favor and at least watch their epic pitch video, you won’t be sorry.
Or if you’re in the mood for a little less action and a little more RPG, there’s Citizens of Earth, which looks to combine “the modern setting and humorous tone of Earthbound with the recruitment mechanics of games like Pokemon and Suikoden.” Sounds pretty good already, right? This is another one you should see to judge, though -- their campaign is just getting started but it could definitely use our help! Check it out!
