Mighty Becker backers, fans, and friends,

We know Sunday is supposed to be a day of rest, but with but just 2 days left until the end of our Kickstarter, we couldn’t stop now -- especially not with the announcement we can finally make today: Mega Man 2 composer Takashi Tateishi is officially on board for Mighty No. 9!

Hold on, let's try that again, this time in a way more appropriate to this news:

(above) Inti Creates’ Ippo Yamada (Mighty No. 13, left, himself an accomplished music-man on games like Resident Evil and Mega Man 9 and 10) with Tateishi-san (Mighty No. 26)!

Tateishi-san’s tunes are the type you can’t get out of your head, the kind you find yourself humming in the shower, or covering in your band -- it’s no accident they’ve become some of the best-known songs in all of gaming! He's now the CEO of his own company and (understandably) a very busy man, but he spent the last few weeks reworking his upcoming schedule to make time for us and this project, so we are incredibly lucky to have him contributing to Mighty No. 9!

Between him and Mega Man 1 composer Matsumae (who did our main theme already) and Inti Creates’ action-music veteran Yamada (who made all of this possible!), can you just imagine how AMAZING the Mighty No. 9 soundtrack is going to be?! Even better, all three of these game-music legends are good friends, so they are super excited to be working together again! Ahhhh -- we can’t wait to hear what this trio come up with! (And don't forget, at the $40 tier and up everyone gets a digital version of the full game soundtrack!)

We hope you agree this is a really big deal, both to us personally as fans, and for the project overall -- so we SUPER appreciate any and all help you can give to spreading this happy news!

Also, what are your favorite Tateishi songs up until now? What are your hopes for the soundtrack? Be sure to also let us and each other know what you think in the comments, and on Twitter and Facebook!

Until tomorrow, then -- if you need us, we’ll just be here humming Tateishi’s MM2 Wily Stage 1 theme :D
- @markmacd (Mighty No. 84), @johntv (Mighty No. 99), & the Mighty No. 9 Team

P.S. If you want to read more about Tateishi-san, check out this interview he did with Matsumae-san, talking about their days back at Capcom working on the early Mega Man soundtracks!

P.S.S. Many people have been asking what kind of packaging the physical disc version of Mighty No. 9 will come in -- we can confirm now it will come in a proper DVD case!

Of course we want all the attention we can get on Mighty No. 9 as our Kickstarter campaign wraps up, but we still want to do what we can to help support other awesome indie gaming projects we think our fans would enjoy --

Games like Hyper Light Drifter -- just check out their description: “Hyper Light Drifter is a 2D Action RPG in the vein of the best 8-bit and 16-bit classics, with modernized mechanics and designs on a much grander scale.” Sound familiar? And it’s not just talk: check out the amazing screens and footage they’re showing and you’ll see this project clearly shares a lot of the same sensibilities as Mighty No. 9! Do yourself a favor and at least watch their epic pitch video, you won’t be sorry.

Or if you’re in the mood for a little less action and a little more RPG, there’s Citizens of Earth, which looks to combine “the modern setting and humorous tone of Earthbound with the recruitment mechanics of games like Pokemon and Suikoden.” Sounds pretty good already, right? This is another one you should see to judge, though -- their campaign is just getting started but it could definitely use our help! Check it out!

This project is incredible. I have been wanting to beg for Tateishi to work on MN9, especially since hearing he first told Matsumae about the project. The Title theme, Dr.Wily stage 1, Wood man and Metal man, favorites. They are all great though. To be honest Mega Man 3 has my favorite music. Everything is a bit jazzier and more emotional. The title theme pulls me in and the password music makes me happy(except when I misplace the blue and the red dots). The best games musically, MM 2, MM 3, MMX, and MMX2. Even 4 was fantastic(my first MegaMan title that I bought the day it released, I still have the plastic on it).

It's awesome that Tateishi is working alongside Yamada and Matsumae as we will definitely get an awesome soundtrack. If you guys can, please put a little easter egg remarking how many remixes Tateishi's MM2 Wily Stage 1 gets, probably something like asking how many remixes his new work will get.

    3. Thomas Beck on

Would also pay for a signed Audio CD with a new cover to get a physical Media! (Also a PS3 Disc?)
      Please give us...;)

    4. William Goff on

Citizens of Earth looks pretty rad but...being in CAD makes it difficult for me to donate.

I came close to jumping out of my chair when I first discovered this epic project and decided I would at least donate something; I wished I could have given more but luckily thanks to this amazing community this project is backed to a level that I had no idea it would reach. ^_^

    6. Brian Denning on

Mega Man 2 had the BEST music. Flash Man, Wily Stage 1, the main theme, Crash Man... oh man. I just anticipationgasmed all over. Thanks.

    7. Ernest James Barron on

This game just keeps getting better and better! :D I was already excited for the music, but now even more so!

    8. Dr. Van Hauten on

A great congrats to our fine Mighty No.9 team, I am truly hyped for this game! And it's quite generous of them to give some info on other Kickstarter Projects like Shantae and now these two others.

In this same order of idea, I wonder if it could be possible to shed some light on another fine project on Kickstarter... A Canadian Team decided to revive another franchise and are pouring their souls into it as well: a sequel to River City Ransom, called River City Ransom: Underground. They don,t have much days left and I think this project should see the light as well, definitely a great Kickstarter Year!

I know this request may sound a bit self-centered, but I believe that the Kickstarter Community should stick together! May these wonderful games blind those AAA companies with their greatness!

Best news ever. My favorite is Flash Man's stage theme from MM2. But really, all the music from MM2 was completely spectacular.

    10. Dane Warwick Clements

this gets better and better, now if they can gave some money to the "Shantae: Half-Genie Hero" Kickstarter, it would be awesome games funding other awesome games.

What made me back this project was Inafune's passion. He gives this incredible passionate and honest vibe I rarely see in this industry. This is a man I can't help but wish the best for. Glad to be a backer!

I was already satisfied with Matsumae, because the main theme is so awesome.
With this I'm sure the overall quality will be as great as that, I have never played Megaman 2 yet a Dr.Willy stage's guitar cover used to be my ringtone.

    20. Jameson on

Yeah. I upped my pledge to 60$ because I'm hoping to see this game on the PS4! Every one with extra money should up their pledge I think.
I've read comment's on YouTube saying that that concept doesn't need the all the money they are getting, but i would like to say they already have a company with lot's of overhead. I hope they make every cent they want for this game and a lot more! I'm praying that they make a Onimisha type game in the future.

This is going to have one the best video game sound tracks for a long time maybe for years. I loved the music of mega man 2 it some the best music out of the mega man games. I really can wait for this game to out! I can just choose on favorite but Bubble man, Metal man, Quick man, and Woodman are my favorites.

    30. Alexander Dalton on

This is the sound of me getting so very excited. EEEEEE!
As for my favorite, it is very hard to choose, but I think it has to be this.… I'll be looking into more of the works these three have put together. ^_^

I look forward to these three musical powerhouses bringing the world of Mighty No. 9 to life! This is truly an amazing alliance.

    31. Team F on

Awesome news, happy now even more that my reward includes an OST ;-) Personally my favorite music is from Mega Man 3 but Mega Man 2 is very close. If I had to choose a favorite song it would be probably Bubble Man stage.
