Mighty Mighty Becker Backers!

Wow, do we have a big day in store for you today... Three big doozies, one after the other! (And that’s not even counting our Call community vote, coming in another update later today!)

To start things off, let’s get physical! (BTW, if you’re here for the podcast, just keep scrolling, you’ll get to it :)

EXTRA COPIES OF MIGHTY NO. 9, ON A DISC OR USB “CARTRIDGE”, AVAILABLE AS ADD-ONS!

That’s right! Due to overwhelming fan requests, we are happy to offer extra, physical copies (of the Steam PC, Mac, or Linux version) of Mighty No. 9 for an additional price!

These are called “add-ons” because they are items you can order individually, by “adding on” money to your existing Kickstarter pledge (these aren’t yet available on our PayPal page, but will be very soon!).

For our Kickstarter-based fans: Everyone at $20 and above already gets one digital download copy of whatever one version of Mighty No. 9 they would like—but if you want to add-on extra money for extra copies of the game, with this you can!

Here’s what we’re offering, along with prices for both (domestic and international):

  • An extra physical copy of Mighty No. 9 on disc (Steam version for PC, Mac, or Linux ONLY, your choice—you will choose via a survey later): Add $26 to your pledge ($31 for international backers)
(above) Please bear in mind the disc-art is a placeholder mockup and will change!
  • An extra physical copy of Mighty No. 9 on a special USB memory stick shaped like either an NES or Famicom cartridge (Steam version for PC, Mac, or Linux ONLY, your choice—you will choose both the platform, and whether you want the NES design or the Famicom design via a survey later): Add $36 to your pledge ($41 for international backers)

(above) These are renders FanGamer is working on of what these USB “carts” will roughly look like; please bear in mind the labels are placeholder mockups and will change, but you can get a sense of the scale by the size of the USB connector.

See anything you like? Here’s how to adjust your Kickstarter pledge to order it!

STEP 1. Everyone who has already pledged to the Kickstarter at any level will see a “Manage Your Pledge” button on the upper right of the Kickstarter page. Click this button, then adjust the amount of your pledge there, in green (see prices above, or check below for some common examples). You should not change your reward tier.

STEP 2. Next click “Continue to Next Step” and finally “Confirm.” Don’t worry that you haven’t told us which version of the game you want for your extra copies yet! After the campaign is over, you will get a survey confirming exactly which items you want added on, and which versions—if applicable—of these items you would like!

And that’s it! Not so hard, right? Well, just in case, let’s walk through the math of some common use cases, so you can make sure you have the idea. Again, you can use add-ons for any reward tier, in combination with as many add-ons as you like. These are just some random examples!

A few examples of add-on scenarios…

The prices again, in case you forgot:

  • An extra physical copy of Mighty No. 9 on disc: $26 in the U.S., or $31 international, each
  • An extra physical copy of Mighty No. 9 on a special USB memory stick shaped like either an NES or Famicom cartridge: $36 in the U.S., or $41 international, each

Ex.1 So, for example, let’s say you pledged at the $20 tier already, but you would like an extra physical copy of Mighty No. 9 on disc, for a total of two copies (one digital, one physical)—you would keep your reward tier at $20, and just add $26 (you live in the U.S.) to your pledge:
$20 + $26 = $46 total pledge

Ex. 2 Another example: If you pledged at the $40 tier already, and would like an extra physical copy of Mighty No. 9 on disc; you would keep your reward tier at $40, and just add $26 (you live in the U.S.) to your pledge:
$40 + $26 = $66 total pledge

Ex. 3 Another example: If you pledged at the $99 tier, and you wanted an extra physical copy of Mighty No. 9 on the special USB stick; you would keep your reward tier at $99, and just add $36 (you live in the U.S.) to your pledge:
$99 + $36 = $135 total pledge

Ex. 4 You can add more than one add-on as well! Let’s say already pledged for $250 (so you’re already getting a game download code), but you also want another copy of the game on disc, and two USB copies (one NES and one Famicom-style, both), for a grand total of four copies of Mighty No. 9! (God bless you!) Also, you live outside of the United States, so you’ll need to use the international prices. In this case, you would keep your reward tier at $250, and add $31, $41, and $41, all to your pledge:
$250 + $31 + $41 + $41 = $363 total pledge

If you’re still having trouble, your best bet for a fast answer might be to ask the kind folks in the comments section of the Kickstarter page to see if they might be willing to help out, or maybe they can check if your math is correct! We’ll be around as much as we can as well, but with the sheer volume of requests, we’re afraid your fellow Beckers are often a better resource for this kind of thing than we are!

---------------------

Next up, a long-awaited stretch goal announcement:

$3,500,000: PlayStation Vita and 3DS versions!

That’s right! At this level, we can make digital versions of Mighty No. 9 for the two most popular handheld systems out there: the PlayStation Vita and Nintendo 3DS! (These will both be added to the list of available systems to choose from, so every backer who is set to receive a download version of Mighty No. 9 can choose either of these as the system for their game download, instead of a home console or PC version.)

We spent the last few weeks running the numbers and talking with various companies to make certain we could not only deliver great handheld versions of Mighty No. 9, but do it for a price that we could set with confidence. Luckily, we found a great potential partner in Abstraction Games -- the team that recently brought Hotline Miami to PS platforms. If we can hit our stretch goal, they are all set to dive in and handle porting Mighty No. 9 to these handhelds!

---------------------

And finally -- thanks for your patience, but we’re here at the final Friday of our Kickstarter campaign, which means our final MightyCast! What? No, don’t be sad -- no time for that now, we got too much awesome pod to get castin’ here! Listen in for a breakdown of all the announcements this week (including those in this update below!), your Skype questions, and best of all, an in-depth interview with Mighty No. 9 game designer Tom Pon! This man is a legend to Mega Man fans, and hopefully will be soon to our Mighty No. 9 community as well -- listen in to find out why!

I was wondering I've pledged at the $60 physical box version of the game because I want the physically PS4 version. Did I do the right pledge or do I have to change something to get disk version?

    2. Christian Otero Vazquez Pagan on

@Comcept. So, if I add $41 for the USB, I'll still get the downloadable code for the Wii U, because the USB is an EXTRA COPY of the game, as you state in the examples.

I want a game disc or USB for WiiU, will this be available???

If my tier provides the digital download and the extra transformation with the gold beck and I want to redeem it for the Xbox360, will I get a second set of the extra transformation and gold beck for the usb copy I really really want!? That's would be awesome if so!

    5. Hyperdimension Call on

Also to note it makes no sense to have it on the PS4 when ALL versions will be identical. The PS4 is capable of playing digital PS3 games no problem.

    6. Hyperdimension Call on

Agreed. Swap the PS4 and Vita stretch goals now!

    7. Phil E. on

Why is PS4 and XB1 ahead of the vita in the stretch goals?!?!?!? Makes no sense. I have no interest in playing this on any system other than the vita.

    8. Missing avatar

      Matt Heuberg on

I used the regular backing to pledge $250, but I want to use Paypal to buy 2 USB sticks instead of adding to my pledge, can I do this?

    9. Ricky Johnson on

@Comcept, I added on to my original pledged so I could get an extra physical copy, but I'm thinking about adding more to get next highest reward tier, would I still have to add the 26$ on top of that to get it?

In the ex. 4 we have to add another 30$ to ship outside the US?

      @ chris ng
      about the in-game rewards

That's a tough one. I guess they would have to upload different versions of the software onto the platforms, which means they'd have to track people's reward tiers, making the process several times more complicated. It's not inconcievable, though. For this issue you should approach them, as soon as possible too.

    14. Byucknah The Red on

US is not considered international, right? I ask since Comcept is based in Japan and I want to be sure that 98$ is correct for 2 usb and 1 cd.

      chris ng on

      @ Petri Seppälä
      Thanks for the reply.

How about the in-game rewards (golden beck & special transformation)? Does the USB physical copy come with that as well? or is it just a basic copy of the game?

    16. Sapphire Wong on

@Billy Lam Sobs, yeah I think it will be a mess. ^^; I was originally hoping for a single tier which has all physical rewards and the others remain the same, but I think that is indeed unfair for the tier above unless they give physical games for them too. Oh well. <:)

    17. Missing avatar

      Petri Seppälä on

      @ chris ng
Don't worry, it only will if you ask for it. You will receive a survey asking which content you want on your USB stick, and it will wholly seperate from your original Kickstarter pledge reward.

      @ Lauren Miller et al.
In the sense that handhelds are cheaper consoles or whatever has nothing to do with the strech goal placement, those are only decided based on prioritization about which port they're going to be pouring money first. On the other hand, it might well be that handhelds are promising bigger returns, so it's reasonable that they might be better off prioritizing them over high-end consoles. It's their decision, only they know the business semantics of it, but feel free to voice your opinion.

    18. Lauren Miller on

I agree with what a lot of people have said. The 3DS and Vita should of been the goal before the Next Generation systems. It doesn't make sense that it wasn't. Most people already have the 3DS or Vita which is why everyone rather have that instead. In fact it was the most requested over the Next Gen.

    19. Missing avatar

      chris ng on

I already on the $60 all digital reward, if I add on the USB physical copy option, will the physical copy be identical?

Does that means that I have 2 game copies? (Eg, I choose Wii U version for digital download, USB physical copy as windows)?

    20. Chris Bustamante on

I'd love to have the ability to get extra digital copies, as well! How else am I going to get one for my 3DS and one for my PS3?

    21. Natalie Manahan
      Superbacker

I wonder why it costs MORE for the handheld versions than the NEXT GEN CONSOLE versions. Shouldn't those be switched?

With only a few days left, somehow feel kind of sad. I somehow feel that this past month has been one of the most important times of my life. I was born the same year mega man was made back in 1987 so i tend to think of mega man as my own brother and when capcom decided to let his franchise die, so did a part of my soul.
Ironically, as I grew older, I personally have grown to heavily admire the iconic symbol of a legendary fire-bird "the phoenix" and what it represents.
I would like to think that although the beloved blue bomber may have perished in a way, however like a phoenix, his "spirit" is being reborn from the ashes that remain in our hearts. (I know that sounded cheesy but you get the idea)
Anyway, I just wanted to share my deepest and sincerest thoughts of support for this kickstarter. This NEEDED to happen, and as this kickstarter is about to come to a close, I just wanted to say to Mr Inafune and his awesome team that: I was proud to heavily support this project as a PROUD backer and Mighty Number.
Anyone who understands that video games are really about creating "happy memories" and not just about the money is (in my opinion) MORE than worthy of this level of support worldwide.

      Jacob S on

I really think that the End Level & Boss and Intro Level should be switched around. Having an intro makes sense and if the current intro level goal is reached then put in the extra end level. Maybe it is just me but it seems odd to tack more on the end with an earlier stretch goal than add to the beginning first. That is just my thought! I'm super excited for this project!

    27. Michael Kohl on

well I just spent over a $100 on kickstarter... looks like i am going to have to live on a bread and butter diet XD

    28. Walid on

@Mighty No. 466 Exactly, I saw that NES cartridge design and was like "Oh wow, this is something I NEED"

    29. Byakkono Kogenta on

3DS version!? 0o0 Oh god yes! \(^w^)/ I was really rooting for that ! Now I hope we reach that stretch goal. Speaking of which I agree with the others to put the 3DS/Vita stretch goals before the PS4/Xbone stretch goal.

    30. Unmei on

Definitely put the 3DS/Vita ports *before* the new gen systems.

    31. Travis X on

I'm with that other guy down there. If at all possible the PS4/XBONE stretch goal should be switched with the handheld stretch goal. I'm sure I'm not the only one who would rather have a handheld version over a next gen console version. Xbox 360 and PS3 versions are fine.

    32. Missing avatar

      Phillip Bunn on

Any idea if they expect to offer the flash drives for sale after the game releases? I'd totally love one but not quite there $-wise at the moment.

    33. Vigaman on

Pledged another $98 on top of my initial $500. I am now a proud owner of 4 copies of Mighty No. 9, in digital and physicals! Thanks for offering these awesome add-ons! :D

    34. Missing avatar

      MakoAoyama on

So, will the physical versions(the disc/thumb drive) be available after the Kickstater ends for sale to the public?
I'd like to have one, but I don't know if I have the money for it now. If I could get it later, I'd just wait. But If it's just a special thing for the Kickstarter backers, I may have to try to get one now.

Also, will the console versions ever have a physical version? If so, I'd like to wait for that.

    35. Missing avatar

      Simon Roby on

The 3DS/Vita goal should be placed before the PS4/Xbone goal. We already have the PS3/360/WiiU goal reached anyway, so next gen consoles are redundant.

      Kevin Briggs on

@ Mighty No. 466 - Thank you so much for clarifying. I greatly appreciate it!

    37. Mighty No. 466 on

@Kevin - Yes. Your digital copy from the reward can be for any system we reched that youd like. Then you can buy the add-on for your PC

    38. Missing avatar

      Kat B. on

Argh, you guys are terrible, tempting me with a physical copy of the game on a snazzy looking usb.
Still, I suppose it is for a good cause...

    39. Missing avatar

      Kevin Briggs on

I'm sorry if this was posted in the comments before, but could someone clarify for me please. I want the PS3 version of the game, which unfortunately will not be getting a physical disc/USB cart. But I really want either a disc or USB cart.

So, if I wanted to, could I receive a digital copy of the PS3 version, but get the disc/USB cart for the PC version? If so I would be all over that. :)

    40. Joseph Critcher on

I like the new stretch goal...but I'm kinda worried at the same time. I'm not worried about the port for the Playstation Vita (despite not having one) but if the game is able to be ported on 3DS does that mean the game isn't up to par with other home console games? I'm afraid of something like the Rayman Origins 3DS port to happen, which paled in comparison to it's home console counterparts.
I love my 3DS, but if the game is graphically amazing in HD I'd rather get the console version on my Wii U/PC rather than a watered down version.

    41. Lauren Miller on

Thanks Mighty No 466 :) That answered my question. I just wasn't sure before :)

    42. Mighty No. 466 on

Ok, I am going to stop watching this page, it has seemed to died down. BUT anyone that does have a question. I do suggest visiting us at the main comments page, we are always chatting over there and love to help where we can!

      http://www.kickstarter.com/projects/mightyno9/mighty-no-9/comments

    43. Mighty No. 466 on

@Walid - Yeah, for me it really hits home to see a NES cartridge. Even if it is tiny

    44. Walid on

@Mighty No. 466 alright that's fine, just need to find another person who hasn't already funded this that wants a copy now :D definitely gonna get that USB version

    45. Sirius Man on

Ugh... so I'm already paying extra shipping cost because I am in Canada, and I have to pay extra shipping cost AGAIN for a USB key? Can't just ship it in the box I ordered? This is is pretty disheartening.

    46. Mighty No. 466 on

@Binh - I believe it is because the game will be shipped at a different time than your rewards. But that I will need to confirm next time Comcept is on

    47. Mighty No. 466 on

@Binh - Yes, you have to add an additional $30 to ship game.

    48. Mighty No. 466 on

@Cheree - Yes, you would have to get the $40 tier. In the beginning Comcept had no plans for a physical copy. So the box and manual are more of a retro collectors item. The physical game will come in some way to protect it of course, but wont be a cool game box listed in the reward tiers

    49. Binh Vox on

Sorry guys but could someone clarify something for me?

The Ex. 4 (for international backers) that was shown here did not include the $30 USD for shipping outside of the US. Now for someone who pledged $250 and wants all 4 copies of Mighty No. 9 would amount to $250 + $31 + $41 + $41 = $363.
When does the $30 USD for shipping come in?

      Thanks in advance! :)
