Classic Japanese side-scrolling action, evolved and transformed by Keiji Inafune, an all-star team of veteran Mega Man devs...and YOU!
67,226 backers pledged $3,845,170 to help bring this project to life.

FUNDED! ...and Then Some!

Posted by comcept USA, LLC (Creator)

To all our Mighty Backers (Beckers?) and fans and supporters--

You have spoken. You have spoken with your pledges and emails and comments and tweets and videos and fan art every way possible, you have spoken, and your message -- not just to us, but to the entire gaming community -- is crystal-clear: This style of classic Japanese action-game isn't dead; it just needs a fresh perspective! It needs to transform like our hero, Beck, into something both familiar -and- completely new.

Not only did you pass our initial goal -- in less than 40 hours, on a holiday weekend no less! -- but you went ahead and crushed our first stretch goal as well. We now have our game guaranteed funded, and with 8 full stages and 8 full bosses! All this, and we're just getting started...

One of the things we’re most proud of is the overwhelmingly positive vibe we all share in this mission. There are no losers in our success here, and no bad guys to rail against. We all know that none of the amazing stories and fond memories you've all been sharing would've ever been possible without the games that came before us, the developers who created them, and the companies who promoted and sold and spread them throughout the world. Yes, we are aiming to revive and reinvent this genre, but we do so with the deepest humility and all due respect to those who came before us, or in many cases worked alongside us -- our ex-coworkers and ex-employers, for example; whatever success we achieve here is ultimately a validation of their efforts. So we salute them -- as we do all of you -- Beck-style, with two fingers! (`_´)ゞ

So yes, this is a huge victory for ALL of YOU, and it’s only due to ALL of YOU! But rest assured, on our end, we know our work is just getting started; we still have plenty of feedback to solicit and comb through, plenty of key stretch goals we all want to see happen, plenty of updates to write, proposals to consider, podcasts to record -- everything and anything we can do to try and reach as many fans, old and new, as we possibly can, and to hit as many stretch goals as we possibly can, to make Mighty No. 9 the best game that we possibly can. Plus we’re now past our first couple days (when Kickstarter momentum typically dies down), but at the same time entering our first real week after the holiday, when a lot of fans that still haven't heard about us will finally be easing back into their routine at home and work, checking Facebook, Twitter, reddit, YouTube, NeoGAF, or any of their other favorite sites and message boards again: we need to reach as many of them as we can!

It's going to be a lot of work -- so much work that there's no way we could possibly do it alone. But that's the beauty of Kickstarter: we're not alone. You all have proven that in just 40 short hours. As a great man once said, "We love you guys. So much love. We know it's not all about us, but about you, the fans, and what you want to say and do with your money and choose to do and make things happen for yourselves."

And with that, we leave you with another piece of inspirational fan art that we think says it all, this time from the amazing Kevin Bolk:

Congratulations -- and our sincerest thanks again to each and every one of you.

-The Mighty No. 9 Team

P.S. -- Look for our weekly "Communi-Tuesday" update coming later this evening, highlighting some of the amazing fan art popping up already, as well as a FAQ update based on your most common questions, and some new reward tier ideas we're going to be considering based on your early feedback. Until then! (`_´)ゞ

Just one thing I tough right now. You aren't aiming a generic public, but an oldschool one, so, don't focus only on that rascal face No.9 is often showing, but in this "cool guy" face up there, it's much more carismatic! =]

When I heard Inafune was doing a kickstarter for his new game I immediately signed up and pledged. I don't care what it is, I know it'll be good because Inafune is a wonderful dreamer. Wish I could afford to drop the coin for the signed hardcover art book. Maybe I can scrape it together before time runs out. Congrats to you and your team Mr. Inafune. You asked the internet for our love and we happily repaid you back for the wonderful experiences you have given us so far. I only hope this means the game will be successful and your company thrives and we get to see more of what you have to offer the world.

Even thought Rockman maybe dead, his soul will live on with Beck. I have no doubt that Mighty No. 9 will be a great successor to the our beloved Blue Bomber.

I didn't had an account here, but this is a project I must support because I know that Inafune loved the "Legends" games even more than me (bought a 3DS as soon as they announced the game).
Already dreaming with a "MIGHTY No.9 LEGENDS"!!!

Hey, congrats on breaking your first 2 goals! Looking forward to tonight's update.

I am curious though, how they would handle Call as a playable character. I know it's being requested heavily here, and hopefully we'll get some comments on that. Just to get it out of the way at least.

    19. Benji on

Is 3DS part of the plan? Just wondering.

Congrats Inafune! Your work with Mega Man has inspired me in a big way. Hoping you have much success with Mighty No. 9!

Thank You! I can't wait for this game, it looks so incredible! I'm also wondering if they's an official --and i mean like the official-- Might No. 9 page! I'd love to know how the game is going, if that information is convenient to release and disposable of course :)

I remember getting Mega Man X for the SNES back when I was a child (25 now). I've played that game. as well as other Mega Man games, millions of times. Never growing tired of its charming gameplay and classic music. Its truly an honor to help fund it's spiritual successor. Its the least I can do to repay years upon years of fun and happiness.

    29. Vesa Uhlenius on

Platform-action games is a genre I've had a long and loving relationship with, and it made me sad for the past decade to see almost no newcomers to the genre, or sequels to old ones. Yes, we did get Megaman 9 and 10, but that was pretty much it. When I saw the news about Mighty No. 9, I felt genuine excitement at the prospect of seeing the genre revived, but what made me squeal like a fanboy was the realization of "who" was making it. And I'm not talking just about Inafune-san, but the whole team who is going to be working on this. After looking through their resumes, I became super excited after seeing what projects Tomita-san, Matsumae-san and Komaki-san had been part of in the past. I don't believe I can even begin to express through words just how much I'm looking towards this game! I will keep spreading the word about this project until the very end, and beyond. The news of this project has made me feel almost twenty years younger! Thank you!

No comment on Call's role or her playability yet =/. A bit disappointing, but to be expected. Here's hoping we get an update on that tonight! I'm sure this isn't something they had considered, so they are probably thinking it over quite thoroughly.

    45. Jetfire99 on

I have high hopes for the game myself. I'm very pleased with how things are going so far. I'm also amazed at long idle members of the fandom have woken up and offered support. I'd also like to say look here I think there is still a demand for this sort of game. We got some people to prove wrong by making this game a success. Far as I go? Beck's a blue bomber.
