Regarding The Mighty No. 9 Release

To the fans eagerly awaiting the release of Mighty No. 9,

Unfortunately, we have an announcement that will be very disappointing to all of you. In preparation for the February release of Mighty No. 9 we have been working hard with our partners to resolve any network issues and porting work necessary to publish Mighty No. 9 on the various platforms. However, the issues relating to the network modes were more critical than expected, and it has become apparent that we will need to delay the game from its February 9th release date. We have been working up until the very last moment to resolve these issues in order to make the February release, but it has become clear that we no longer have enough time to fix the issues and have everything prepared for release.

The reason for the delay is rooted in bugs inside the network modes, and specifically problems with matchmaking. There are two large reasons for this problem, one of them being the large number of platforms supported (the solution for each platform is slightly different) and the other stems from the fact that the engine we are using is no longer being updated which means adjustments for matchmaking and online code are being made manually (actually reprogramming parts of the engine by the dev team themselves). Unfortunately, this is all a result of miscalculations on the part of us, the development staff. As a result, our fans who have been looking forward to Mighty No. 9 have been forced to wait for over half a year longer than expected, and for that we are sincerely sorry. I want to take this chance to apologize personally, and on the behalf of the development staff.

Over the end of the year break and the beginning of 2016, the development staff has been working on these issues non-stop without break, and thanks to their hard work the end is in sight. We continue to make progress to resolve these last issues that have been holding up the release of the game on the different platforms.

Because we are constantly working on it in cooperation with all our partners, we want to wait and make sure that everything is confirmed to be ready before giving a new specific release date. But we expect it to realistically be in Spring 2016.

For this 3rd delay of the game, we have no excuses for disappointing our fans and especially our backers once more. We want to take this chance to express our sincerest apologies to everyone who has looked forward to the release.

Although we are far past our original release date, the release of Mighty No. 9 is still right around the corner. We are all working hard to make sure that we can finish and release the game to all of our fans as quickly as possible, and ask once more for your support of this project that we have created together over these last few years.

How can I ask for a refund?

Absolutely Wakko! They haven't said a thing! How can they possibly lie if they haven't said anything?

Though it pains me to see that the game will not come out soon, I rather them tell me they have no real release date than to constantly disappoint us with new ones. If I were to ask Comcept to place an update. Then all I want is to hear just that. "We are waiting for an opportunity to provide you with an accurate and concrete release date. Until then please be patient and we apologize for the wait."

Not a fan of them being silent, but personally I think it's better than updating us with air. "Update 106, we are working the bugs", "Update 107, we are still having trouble." Personally I just want a statement like the one I mentioned earlier.

@trickstar I'm asking a question for them to say things as they are, there are no news like this.

It has been a long time do not say something and would be good to know when we have another novelty than keep waiting. If you do not mind not hearing a long time ago, that's your problem ... I'm just disappointed to have contributed to something that still do not see nearly finished.

    8. "Wakko" on April 28, 2016

      @Trickstar
Actually, I agree with you here good sir. Comcept isn't spreading lies and how dare any of you think so!
      *angrily sips champagne*

Besides, how can one lie when one doesn't post any updates for 3 months? ;)

    9. Artemi on April 27, 2016

You know, I'm so done with this game. 3 delays, and four months later still no updates. Why are we waiting on multiplayer on a single player game? Even the multiplayer modes are just competitive single player versions!

I know you're not going to give a refund, because you've spent everything we've given you with NOTHING to show for it. I don't even really want the game anymore, even when it DOES come; maybe I can sell my code or something and get my refund that way.

At least summer is coming now and I won't be waiting as eagerly for this game to release... but seriously, this is taking forever. The more we wait, the more disapointed we'll be if it's just another "nice" game. It alreadly feels like I'll only half enjoy playing this.

    11. Trickstar on April 26, 2016

      @Nekketsu Chile

I think you misunderstand. You are demanding that Comcept tell you the truth as if they are the ones spreading the false rumors. Please I ask that you do your research and form your own actual thoughts before making such posts.

I truly hate to ask, but is it possible that I could get a refund from this project? It has been a couple years now and the game has been delayed a third time. Unfortunately, a close friend of mine who also backed the project passed away in early 2015. I hope that the project is successful, but I just don't want to be a part of it anymore.

You are not the only one, as of last week my son whom funded this project passed away. He had hoped to play this game and relive the old mega man days of his youth with me...too late now...too little...too late.

    13. Nekketsu Chile on April 26, 2016

There are rumors that this is delayed again? stop being less than honest and tell the truth, they are causing more damage to their credibility !!!.

I'm seriously considering asking for refund!

Something ain't right. Network issues was one of the "nice to have" features, yet it was not a must. While I can understand Comcept wanting to release the game as full for consoles, nobody really cares about the feature itself. I suspect there are some legal issues.

      THANKS!!!!

Ugh, in the real world I would demand a refund. But this is Kickstarter so saying "Can I get a refund" is pretty pointless.

Ah well, lesson learned. Don't blindly toss money around and expect miracles to happen.

@Dyne also the fact that they would have to resend it for another rating from the ESRB due to their system.

    24. Dynemanti on April 20, 2016

How about you just release it without matchmaking for now? Like how hard is it to disable a feature and re-enable when it's done? I know it's easier than holding back a game for 6 months. Hey guess what? when sales slow down releasing a new feature boosts them again. I dunno it makes sense in my head.

When I first heard of this project I did not hesitate to give you my money. All knew was that the mind behind Mega Man X, my all-time favourite video game, needed help and that was enough for me to lend a hand. I was happy to know that Mega Man was not dead simply because I, and thousands of other kindred spirits, would not let him die, on the contrary, because of us he would thrive once again... or so I thought.

Today I find myself wishing this project had never happened in the first place. For what I can gather from gameplay videos, this will be a mediocre game (at best) that in no way justifies its numerous delays. Truth be told, I don't care anymore if this game ever gets to see the light of day.

    31. Andrew Tang on April 12, 2016

I understand if there are problems that still need to be ironed out because I would like to play a game that isnt broken upon release; however, you need to give us some updates as to whats going on. 67000 people gave you their money for a project they believe in and Im sure a large amount are starting to feel foolish and betrayed for supporting this. Give us some new info, anything at all. Dont turn your backs on the people who made this possible to begin with.

At this point, I'm seriously wondering if they're under behind-the-scenes legal pressure from Capcom, and these "network bugs" are a cover.

    33. John Ruml on April 11, 2016

I feel cheated. I feel cheated because that's exactly what I was: cheated. I supported this campaign the summer before starting college and today, on the day that I applied for graduation, there is still no set in stone release date for a game that was supposed to come out more than a year ago. Is there anyway to apply for a refund? If not, I do not think I will continue to support Kickstarter projects and warn others to avoid them as well. This utter mismanagement of funds simply does not show up in other business models. As a longtime supporter of the megaman franchise, I am horribly disappointed.

    34. Mateus Dias Magalhães on April 11, 2016

Maybe we should gather and file a formal complaint in Kickstarter site. I know this is a crowdfunding, not a pre order, and for that reason, they might even cancel the project if it is proven to be unfeasable. However, this is not the case, and I heard about other campaigns in which they were forced by law to refund all backers.

It sholdn't take more than 3 years to develop a platformer in this day an age, especially one that isn't going to be all that groundbreaking. This is just laziness on the devs part.

    36. Kristofer Carlson on April 8, 2016

I'm betting on a 4th delay or a complete cancelation. Comcept has not been active on Facebook, Twitter, the Comcept site, the MN9 site or Kickstarter in months. They do not respond to emails or comments either. Looks like their done. Comcept's site still shows MN9 being released September 2015 and the red ash Kickstarter. At this point I've lost all interest in MN9 and I am really bummed about it. Was really looking forward to playing. Comcept seems to have checked out.

    37. TechnoWolf on April 8, 2016

So... are we in for a 4th delay ?

    38. Ian Lotts on April 7, 2016

So, has anyone ever received the email regaring what console they'd like to receive this game on? I never remember getting it. COMCEPT, PLEASE SEND OUT A NEW EMAIL TO ALLOW US TO SELECT WHAT CONSOLE WE WANT THIS GAME ON!!! Since this was announced, 2 new consoles have launched and we may have changed our minds!

    39. Jonathan Pinto Sperafico on April 7, 2016

Any update would be nice... You should do as Kickstarter's warning on comments inform us "Be respectful and considerate.".
      Please update us.

    40. Celvice Klein on April 7, 2016

It's says something about a person's character when they piss away all the good faith they had with their fans faster than Konami.

But honestly, it isn't that the game been delayed for over a year now. These things happen in development. No, what bother me is the lack of communication since the delays started happening and the asking of fans for more money for other projects when you haven't even delivered on this one yet.

Just the overall handling of this been a mess, really.

And no, I don't even care about getting the game now. Not even mad either. I just know I won't ever be backing or buying anything by comcept again due to this.

    41. Aaron on April 6, 2016

I guess we just take the devs and the company they sold the project to as a lesson learned next time we invest in a kickstarter project. Make an emoji of Mighty Number 9 we can spam as a flagship "careful who you trust".

    43. Small Waves on April 4, 2016

Just call it quits, refund the money, and die quietly.

    44. D. Lawson-Hart on April 4, 2016

Please just release the best possible game that stays true to the backer levels. However... it would be nice if you release the digital in beta form. That way, we can at least play what there is so far, right? If it's via Steam, it will be easily updateable once you finish the additional features. Just seems like the smartest way to stop letting down the backers - because as unintentional as it is, as much as (most of us) understand you're working hard to give us the best game possible, we are being let down by all of these delays and that deserves some recognition and compensation.

Wow, it's been quite a while.
I think you will need to do another update regarding the platform the people receive the game for.
