We are a brand new all female bluegrass band from the UK, featuring an all-star lineup from across England and Northern Ireland. We're passionate about bluegrass music and can't wait to share our debut album with you, but we need your help!
Over the summer we played several gigs throughout England and were met with so many requests for an album that we decided to get together to write and record one back in August. The end result is a 10 track album entitled 'Fire' which features 7 originals, with contributions from each band member, and 3 covers - one traditional song, a Bill Monroe classic and a song by the late, great Hazel Dickens, one of the earlier pioneers for women in bluegrass music.
We recorded the album over an intensive 5 days and it has been expertly mixed and mastered by Josh Clark at Get Real Audio. We're so proud of how it's turned out and can't wait for it to be heard. However, as a new band we haven't had the chance to build up the necessary funds through gigging to pay for making an album, so that's where you come in...
We're looking to raise money to go towards the costs involved in mixing, mastering, licensing, artwork, a strong PR campaign and of course CD manufacture. To help us do that, you can effectively just use this Kickstarter to pre-order the album (you'll get it sometime in December, well before the official release date of Friday 2nd February) and there are also plenty of other rewards to choose from – check the right hand column for more on those.
Our target of £2650 will just about cover the minimum costs of all of this, but if we go over our target we can take the whole thing further with (depending on how much more we raise) videos, more writing sessions and of course just help with touring - it's an expensive business! Thanks in advance to anyone who helps us out with this. We hope you enjoy the album as much as we enjoyed creating it!
Risks and challenges
The album artwork is complete and ready to print and all the tracks are finished and ready to go, so we've already made it through the first big challenge, but we now need to give this album a good release to help secure the future of the band. The more copies we can get out in the world the better it will be in terms of profile of course, and not to mention making sure we have enough budget for a good PR campaign which is an essential part of making the most of having a new album. Keeping a 5 piece band on the road is expensive, so having a recording to sell at gigs is crucial in making touring financially viable.Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
