Do-It-Yourself Screenprinting is one-of-a-kind and the fact that it is out of print is HEARTBREAKING. Let's make a reprint happen!
Put simply: John Isaacson's Do-It-Yourself Screenprinting is a one-of-a-kind thing and the fact that it is out of print is HEARTBREAKING. An accessible, novice-to-intermediate-friendly guide to the screenprint biz, Isaacson's lessons are presented in comic book form and follow a personal narrative, showing "Isaac" (a lovable everyman hero/stand-in for the author) learning the ropes of making and selling his creations. Unlike a lot of dry, scholarly textbook manuals, Isaacson's book feels like a letter from a friend, a loving voice of encouragement over the course of 200 pages, giving the goods and keepin' it simple, without ever talking down to you. Whether you want to turn your bedroom into a t-shirt factory or just make a couple stickers or posters for your band's next tour, Isaacson has got your back. He's good like that.
Now, we don't have to tell you that 2011 is quite possibly the most heinous year in recent history to be an author or independent publisher. As folks turn toward the internet for their information and entertainment, books and print publishing have taken a backseat (to say the very least). Printing an illustrated, large-format book like Isaacson's is crazy expensive and that, dear friends, is where you come in. Everyone who donates a minimum of $13 will receive a copy of the book, hot off the press. From there, the gifts to donaters just get better and better. (For a full list of the cool stuff you can get as a pledger, check out the column on the righthand side of this page. Donate enough and you might just need a shopping cart to carry it all home from the post office!)
If this Kickstarter campaign of $5,000 is funded by August 6 we will be printing 5,000 moreand getting them into the hands of hopeful screenprinters around the world. One of the things we love best about publishing and distribution is helping folks find platforms to get their messages across and this book is a valuable resource for that.
When it comes down to it, we love this book and its author with all our heart. Anything you can send our way to make this happen would be outstandingly wonderful. Let's get this book in print like it deserves.
