The St. Louis-based indie/rock band Low Weather recorded six songs in Nashville this past August, with the intention of them being half of a full-length release. However, money has run out and we need your help to fund the rest!
Low Weather is headed up by myself, Michael Trieb, and up until now i've been releasing music under my name as a singer/songwriter. Low Weather is a departure from that typical singer/songwriter format and is really a group effort. Some of my closest friends are helping me out on this album.
This new music is different from past music I've put out in that sonically, it's just a lot bigger. It's a lot more rocked out, with bigger soundscapes and more ambitious ideas. A few artists who have influenced my writing this time around are Pavement, Pedro the Lion, the Beatles, Nirvana, Pink Floyd, American Football.
Due to a large amount of songs written, we feel like doing a full length is the best option right now. I've released a few EP's in the past year, and so I think we all kindof decided "yes...it's time." Also, as a fan of music I find that listening to a full album front to back is usually a more immersive experience. As an artist, creating a full-length album means there's more room to experiment with dynamics and different sounds.
As far as rewards go, you have a lot to choose from. Everybody who pledges any amount receives the album's first single, "Underneath. A really exciting option is the chance to download all of the six completed songs we have recorded. This is your only chance to hear them before the full album releases in March. Also exciting are band tshirts! Also, there are only ten copies left of my kickstarter-funded EP, "Gypsy Wind." Those are available to you as well.
It's been a blast recording with all of my friends. This body of work is not mine alone, and I think we're all pretty proud of what's been accomplished so far. The album is being recorded at the Brown Owl studio in Nashville, TN. My friend and longtime collaborator Chase Weber is producing, engineering, and mixing everything.
Thanks so much to everyone who considers backing this project, and to everyone who has been listening to the music I've released thus far!
PLEASE READ THIS: IF YOU BACK THIS PROJECT, PLEASE MESSAGE ME YOUR EMAIL ADDRESS SO I CAN SEND YOU YOUR SONG DOWNLOADS AS SOON AS HUMANLY POSSIBLE. IT'S THE ONLY WAY. THANKS!
Risks and challenges
The only risks and challenges that we might face would be a delay in the album's completion. We are very focused on distributing the finished album in March but there's always the slight chance of it spilling into April a tiny bit. But that won't happen.Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
