We now have a further look at the airship design. Enjoy!
Its not a huge deal but I don't think it looks as good as the original sketch posted on December 9. But I am clearly in the minority.
Great look! Interesting comment Eric. I'd say it looks like a tail, and I expect that was the intended look n feel.
Guess they didn't listen to my suggestion about changing the back when they posted the drawing. The smoke stack at the back is looking a little phallic. =(
That is quite slick. Very nice design! By the way, I've been meaning to get into some steampunk lit; anyone have some good recommendations? I have Boneshaker and Infinity Bridge, and have heard good stuff about Spring-Heeled Jack.
Any idea what color(s)/grade/type of plastic you will be using for the final pieces?
OK the colors in the pic do not look cool to me. if it's not colored just an all red or all green color works for me. if you can get two colors black and green all the way would also be really cool.. just my 2 cents.
I do not expect the pieces to be in multiple colors. Nor we will be having the pieces painted. Cheers!
I agree, painting the airships would be a cool way to add some detail if they're going to be solid colors.
Unreal. That looks very promising.
There's no cheap way to do that with injection molding generally speaking. I have seen 2 tone methods but they don't come cheap. However, these might be paintable which could be cool.
Looks great! I see that the smokestack cover is a bit wider in relation to the smokestack than in the drawing. It's a good move in the right direction, but anything to make that arrangement less phallic will be a win. ie: steamboat-style smokestack (crown configuration rather than a cover...)
The extra colors are probably just there so the 3D artist can easily tell one part of the model from the other.
Wow. I expect that this won't be in three colors though huh?
