@Bart - FYI, the sandwiching is a result of Kickstarter's methodology for posting. If you add artwork/video to a post, then those always go at the end. Unless you post it somewhere else and then embed it!

I generally delete about 50 e-mails a day so one more doesn't really bother me.

My two cents here is that I don't mind the ED notices even though I don't plan on backing it. There is over 10,000 backers, its good business sense to promote other projects. Also, maybe I'm coming at this wrong but I feel I not only backed Dungeon Roll but I threw support behind a good company.
Keep up the great work Micheal and team.

I know that I got an email from TMG and was not surprised by it at all. As a matter of fact I expected it because I participated in the Dungeon Roll contest on BGG and if I recall correctly for a few extra chances to win a copy (the last question of the contest) I agreed to be on the TMG mailing list.

So Bart, did you take part in the DR contest on BGG? Maybe you answered question question 6 and agreed to be on their mailing list in which then you agreed to receive emails on whatever they wanted to tell you about not just Dungeon Roll.

I agree with what has been said about using an update for one kickstarter to advertise another project. I do not appreciate it and would rather not have it here. But as has been said, I can live with it just being a small header in the update that I can skip reading (but really, then just put it at the end instead of purposively sandwiching it, so as to increase the chance of people reading it).

However, what bothers me more (and which is less excusable) is receiving an e-mail from Tasty Minstrel Games solely devoted to a DIFFERENT game than the one I have backed. I gave out my personal information to this company to be used for the product I've supported, not to be abused for further advertisements about other products they're bringing out, regardless of whether I'm interested or not (I thought Eminent Domain was meh so I'm not).
I don't buy into the reason "I just want people to be aware". It really is "I just want more people to support our product, so I'll use every means I have available to me". That's fine as long as you respect people's privacy, which excludes sending advertisements to people's e-mail addresses.

      Thanks

Thanks for the update. As for ED, since I missed the first campaign, i was about to pledge for both ED and its expansion but... the shipping cost is way to expensive to Japan. So I'll have to pass. Not complaining here, just mentioning why I won't pledge. I hope the campaign will hit its goal (i don't worry about that!)

I could understand complaining if it was ONLY an ED announcement...but since there is MORE text dedicated to Dungeon Roll...I don't get it it. All you have to do is skip to the next header. You're still getting your Dungeon Roll update, so what's the issue?

Thanks for the updates, Michael - always happy to see production moving along! As far as ED - I wasn't aware of the project until you mentioned it here - so thanks for that as well! I'm intrigued by it!

Thanks for the updates and the link to ED, checking out a copy this weekend to see if I want to kick for my own w/xpac

Not bad! Usually I don't like dwarfs in any variation but this one I actually like.

    11. Jeff Woosley on

All Kickstart creators use updates from one project to make people aware of another, newer project. Whinging about it is about as useful as whinging about there being commercials in network television.

I can appreciate that. Maybe you could consider signing off with something along the lines of "TMG has lots of great projects coming up. Stay up to date on all our great games and Kickstarter campaigns by signing up for our email newsletter at www.whatever.com."
Just my two cents, take it for what its worth.

    13. Keith & Diana on

I quite like how you're doing the ED:E updates - a sideblurb on an otherwise informative update. Heck, if you hadn't done it, I wouldn't have backed, and been sad when I missed out!

Love the Dwarf design, thanks for posting the making of.

I don't really appreciate the posting of ED:E on these updates because I have no interest in that game having backed this one and not that one. Maybe you could have a general newsletter that talks about general projects instead of relying on these product specific pages. Just feels very spammy this way.

Watching videos makes me realize I am glad I am not an artist. I hate erasing anything.

I LOVE it when you show these videos of the artwork being produced, it's fascinating and amazing. I love the dwarf, he looks great and thanks for keeping us so well informed!!! ^_^

Nice work on the dwarf, I like it!

Hope to see a design for the D10 soon. Like the Dwarf. He looks feisty.

@Anthony - I just want people to be aware of what is going on. I have heard many times shortly after a project finishes about not having found it.

I of course, am grateful for your pledge and support of Dungeon Roll.

    22. Jacqland on

It's not that I particularly mind the ED:E stuff, except for the vague unease that there are energies going into other projects that will lead to delays in Dungeon Roll.

    23. Michael Mindes 37-time creator on

@Jack - I need to get that all figured out first.

    24. Jack Hepburn Raine on

Nice update but would prefer to hear about the next dungeon roll kickstarter for metal treasure etc.

    25. Shumyum on

I also LOVE these videos! Two questions:

      1. What's the time compression? (Apologies if this is something I can find out from the video some how)
      2. What happened to the Giant Rat skull axe topper????

    26. Brent Mair on

I definitely like how the core of this post is an update to Dungeon Role and feel the inclusion of the Eminent Domain blurb to be highly appropriate.

    27. Marty McFly on

As it happens, I am also backing ED:E, so I'm up for those updates. But even if I wasn't, you've included a nice bold section heading (like a news headline) to let me know what's what. If I don't want to read that section, I'll just skip to the next nice bold print, just like I do on any other news outlet. You've always been very giving with the information, and I appreciate that. Keep all the updates coming!

I don't mind the ED:E notices. I don't plan on backing it, but I certainly don't have a problem with you promoting your games. Other projects have taken heat for promoting projects from other game companies, which is borderline for me, but TMG promoting TMG is just smart business. You've been completely transparent and informative this whole project. Adding an ED:E comment to a DR update here and there is fine. Keep up the good work.

I could watch these behind the scenes artwork videos all day. As someone with 0 illustrating talent, I find it fascinating how artists create such vivid character from a blank canvas. Nice job.

If i want updates on EmDo, I'll follow there. I'd appreciate if you kept advertisements for your other campaigns out of these updates. I supported you on this one, it can come across as ungrateful when you constantly ask for more money for another campaign on the outlet designed for updates on this project.
