THANK YOU EVERYONE FOR YOUR AMAZING SUPPORT!!!
Clarification: Tavern & Depot will be available later as a small expansion pack for Orleans. It is not exclusive to Deluxe Backers from Kickstarter.
Orléans is for 2-4 Players aged 12+, taking 90 minutes. Now with all English language on the board.
For $57 you can get our special Kickstarter Deluxe edition, with metal coins and wooden tokens instead of cardboard. And for just $2 more, you not only get the deluxe edition of Orleans, but also a TMG original game by Andy Van Zandt, Bottlecap Vikings!
A Brief Description of Orléans
During the medieval goings-on around Orléans, you must assemble a following of farmers, merchants, knights, monks, etc. to gain supremacy through trade, construction and science in medieval France.
In the city of Orléans and the area of the Loire, you can take trade trips to other cities to acquire coveted goods and build trading posts. You need followers and their abilities to expand your dominance by putting them to work as traders, builders, and scientists. Knights expand your scope of action and secure your mercantile expeditions. Craftsmen build trading stations and tools to facilitate work. Scholars make progress in science, and last but not least it cannot hurt to get active in monasteries since with monks on your side you are much less likely to fall prey to fate.
In Orléans, you will always want to take more actions than possible, and there are many paths to victory. The challenge is to combine all elements as best as possible with regard to your strategy.
The Deluxe Edition
For the Orléans deluxe edition, we have made the following upgrades to the base game:
- Provide Metal Coins (we still include the cardboard tokens)
- Wooden Discs + Stickers are available for the workers. (we still include the cardboard tokens)
In addition to these, we can unlock with Stretch Goals further improvements to the components as detailed further down below.
We will only be manufacturing the deluxe editions once. Other than some extras made to cover damage, loss, and a few convention sales, they will not be available again from TMG.
The cost to upgrade to Deluxe Edition matches our cost to produce the upgrades.

What is Bottlecap Vikings?
Bottlecap Vikings is a small box game (like Harbour or Dungeon Roll) internally developed here at TMG and designed by one of our game developers Andy Van Zandt.
If you are pledging for the Deluxe Edition of Orléans, it is only an additional $2 to get Bottlecap Vikings, and well worth it. This is not a game on the scale of Burgoo or Coin Age, but more like Harbour or Dungeon Roll.
It is a quick and variable rondel game which has your decisions heavily influenced by where other players are. The rondel setup is variable, and so are the player powers...
Update #5 was all about the game if you would like to read more about it.
What If I Want Multiple Copies?
If you would like to pledge for additional copies at your tier level, then please just add the base cost of the tier again.
So, for example, just add $59 to get an additional Deluxe Orléans and Bottlecap Vikings. Limit 4 total outside of the USA for shipping costs purposes.
Why USA / Canada / Australia Only?
The nature of our agreement with game publisher DLP and the designer Reiner Stockhausen is such that we are only able to sell in the USA, Canada, and Australia on Kickstarter.
Once this Kickstarter is over, then we will only be able to sell in the USA and Canada.
We LOVE Orléans here at the TMG headquarters. We personally believe that it was the best game released at Essen in 2014, which says a lot since we also like AquaSphere very much.
We love the game so much that we wanted personally to have premium versions of the game. Now, the cost to print and sell these through distribution is just too high!
So, we have added our cost of the deluxe upgrade to the game to the Kickstarter price without any profit added in. We want as many people to be able to have this as possible and we hope that you decide to order on this Kickstarter project.
Also, if you have Belfort, Village or Harbour, then you know that we like to have stickers on wood. Nothing says "TMG" quite like having to put stickers on wood.
Risks and challenges
Tasty Minstrel Games (TMG) has delivered numerous games throughout the world. Some that were funded on Kickstarter and some that were not. As an established small games company, the real question is making sure we manage potential sources of delay and communicating clear expectations throughout the campaign and after the funding ends.
Two primary sources of delay are staying on top of production and completing art in a timely fashion. These two things are closely related, of course.
To address any concerns related to production TMG hired an operations manager in April 2014 to escort everything through the checkpoints and hurdles with our manufacturers. Thankfully we have worked with Panda Game Manufacturing for several years now and have a good working relationship with them.
We've assembled a full team here in Utah to elevate our overall level of service.Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
