***WE HAVE MADE IT TO OUR GOAL, NOW WE ARE TRYING FOR MORE!***
Necrophilia: A Love Story is a short script about a man and a woman who are given a second chance. Well, kind of... Here's the official plot:
Mitchel, a lonely and depressed recluse, decides to dig up the grave of his deceased ex-girlfriend, Emily, to spend one last moment with her. When he digs her up, he some how brings her back to life and, with their love stronger than ever, they decide to make it work for good! The only problem is, she is rapidly decomposing.
Necrophilia: A Love Story, at the core, is a story about second chances at romance and how things are never exactly the same when you try again.
WHO ARE WE?
My name is Michael Millichamp and I am an award winning director with a passion of making movies. It started when I was 15 making flip books in science class, which progressed into making claymation videos in art class, which led to winning multiple UIL events and winning STATE recognition 2 years in a row, which got me an MTV scholarship from AIGA World Studio Scholarship Foundation, which allowed me to go to college and making countless short films, which gave me experience to make this:
More information here!
I was only 22 when I made that short film and I was competing against professionals nationwide. It was a shock when we were picked by Michael Cioni, CEO of LIGHT IRON, to be in the top 10, but it was even more of a shock when we were hand picked by Jarred Land, President of RED Digital Cinema, and Jim Jannard, Founder of RED Digital Cinema, to win 2nd place!
DID WE MENTION WE HAVE GILES LAMB?
Yes, you heard right, Giles Lamb, the amazingly brilliant composer has read the script, loves it, and wants to help out in any way possible way. He will be composing and scoring the movie! He scored the opening scene which is in the Kickstarter video!
Giles Lamb is an award winning composer responsible for the Dead Island Launch Trailer:
He also helped with the soundtrack for Nicolas Winding Refn's Valhala Rising:

WHY SHOULD YOU SUPPORT US?
We made that award winning short film on a budget of 300 dollars. We pride ourselves in spending the least amount of money, while getting the best results possible.
But our new movie will run around 18 minutes long and with the amount of props, make-up, actors, extras, equipment, lights, and cameras we need, we definitely can't shoot this for 300 dollars, 1,000, or even 5,000.
So we set the goal to 10,000. I know it sounds like a lot, but let's break it down a little bit.
- 3,500 for gear! (lighting, camera, locations, trucks, equipment)
- 3,000 for post! (Visual Effects, Color grading, Composing)
- 1,500 for Actors! (2 leads, 2 supporting, 30-40 extras)
- 1,000 for Food! (You have to feed your crew)
- 1,000 for Crew! (We have an amazing 10 man crew, that I have worked with for almost 3 years, that have agreed to get paid next to nothing to support this movie)
Want a Pie Chart to make it easier?
We wouldn't be asking anymore or any less than what it takes to make this movie. We are very passionate about this project and want to only use what is absolutely necessary to make the best short film possible!
WHAT DO YOU GET?
We have some amazing rewards and most of them starting off for so little! You can go from 5 dollars all the way up to 1,500 dollars!
Here are just a few:
- For 25 dollars, you can get a digital download of the film upon it's completion!
- For 175 dollars you can get this amazing custom printed poster, signed by anyone you want on the crew!
- The rewards go all the way up to 1,500 dollars, which give you EXECUTIVE PRODUCER credit and tickets to any film festival we go to!
- And so much more!
SO WHAT HAVE YOU DONE SO FAR?
We have done so much to prepare for this and it only continues to grow day by day! We won't be shooting until the end of May, but we have already:
- Cast the entire film
- Shot the first scene of the movie (Which is the beginning of the Kickstarter video)
- Secured locations
- Secured all the crew
THAT'S COOL, BUT WHAT'S THE END GAME?
We don't want to just make a movie, burn a DVD and be done with it. We want to make something that we are so proud of, we want the entire world to see, which is why we will be sending it to countless film festivals!
This isn't just a project that I want people to see for myself. This is a project that I want everyone to see because of all of the hard work everyone has put into it, from Kickstarter backers all the way to crew members! Everyone is equally as important and deserves to have the work, they participated in, shown.
Our hopes are to get into the big festivals like:
- South by Southwest
- Austin Film Festival
- Many, many more!
I think with our cast, crew, and support from you, we can definitely make that a reality! We have 100% faith in everyone involved in this project and we know we are going to make a fantastic movie with YOUR support!
Risks and challenges
The risks in making a film are gigantic. Once we receive funding, there are possibilities of locations dropping out, actors getting sick, gear malfunctioning, you name it, it can happen. Sometimes it will mean pushing dates back and making sure we get everything exactly how we wanted it. If you show up thinking everything is going to be exactly how you wanted it and perfect, you will be in for a rude awakening. We know how to adapt and make sure your donation is spent on exactly what it needs to be.
Growing up I was taught that no matter what comes your way, you don't give up on the task at hand. You have a back up plan always, and if worse comes to worst, act on that plan.
The biggest risk in doing this, is not fulfilling the needed amount from our Kickstarter goal. If that happens we receive NOTHING. Which leaves us with only money out of our pockets and having to go back to friends and family and ask for more. We are in need of this and we definitely want it to go through. If it does I promise you will not be disappointed!
This will definitely take time, so if you put money into our campaign, be patient. I will provide weekly updates for everyone just so you know exactly what is going on. Sometimes there won't be much to talk about and they will only be 30 seconds, sometimes there will be a lot of stuff to say, and could be up to 10 minutes long. But what really matters is I will make sure you always know what is going on. I mean, you did put your money in, you definitely have the right to know.
