It looks like Kickstarter is turning up the heat. The "time remaining" is shown now in hours rather than days. Oh, man.
There are 90 of you now and that blows my mind. I still have a bunch of work to do, though, as I have $2629 to raise before Friday at 5pm EST or the project will get zero dollars and zero cents. Woah!
It can and WILL happen though, but I need your help. If you would be so kind as to reach out to individuals who might be interested in backing this project and also, consider posting about my campaign on Facebook, Twitter, Tumblr, anywhere you are, letting people know that you backed my project and why. I've cut and pasted some sample tweets and FB posts below, you can cut and paste them if you'd rather.
I've been uploading some videos from my Dixon Place performance to my YouTube channel. Click here to check out the playlist and get yourself psyched up about this project.
I'll be spending the day this Sunday at Benny's Wash and Dry to record all the piano, strings, vocals and oboe. I am really excited about the recording sessions, but of course feeling anxious about what it will mean to take on that expense myself if the kickstarter doesn't pan out. Paying the musicians, engineer and the studio itself will be a really big expense, and only about a quarter of what this entire project will cost. I would be so grateful to spend that time in the studio being creative rather than worrying about spending the summer eating beans and rice!
Thank you for your beautiful support. No matter how this thing pans out, I will have learned that I have a posse of people who believe in my work far more deeply than I would have ever expected a year and a half ago when I was just beginning to find the seeds of bravery to just start creating this work. Thank you.
