After publishing the Elves of Uteria, we had an adventure module and city guide as a funding reward. As we worked on it, we realized that this project was evolving into something larger than a quick adventure. Instead, it was becoming a full introduction to the World of Uteria. As it grew, we talked to artists who had expressed an interest in doing more artwork for the World of Uteria. We then decided to do a deluxe edition, and here we are!
The Ferryport Adventures will include two different books under one cover:
The first is the Guide the Ferryport.
The city of Ferryport, a crossroads city, is a great base for adventures in Uteria. It was not as ravaged by the Great War or plagues as many places. It is a central trade hub for the Endamas region, so many people and cultures are present within its walls.
Today, magic is returning, bring both the splendor and horror that comes with it. Ferryport sees a new dawn in its future, but a sinister force lingers in the dark corners of the city
The Guide to Ferryport will be a journey through the streets of Ferryport, as seen through the eyes of Toryn, a traveling bard who has returned to his hometown to report on its places and people. It will cover the interesting personalities of Ferryport, as well as its most well-known locales. Maps will be included for many locations.
The Goblins of Kaelnor Forest - Adventure
This first level adventure will take the adventurers into the Kaelnor Forest. While the eastern side of the forest has long been the home of the forest elves, the western side is infested with goblins, boggarts, spiders, and more.
The adventure will take players through the forest investigating a rumor of raiding creatures. They will begin in South Hollow, a farming community south of Ferryport proper, and will travel deep within the dark, enchanted woods.
Are there supernatural creatures in the woods taking the farmers' stores? Will they survive the strange fey forest?
The adventure will come with 5 premade Uteria player characters, so you can jump right into the story.
What does the funding pay for?
Almost all funding is going to the artwork (the other part to printing and shipping, of course). I have the main part of the writing finished, and this will pay our artists to make this book come to life! The following artists will be contributing:
Sam Flegal - Sam Flegal is an oil painter who describes his work as “stylized realism,” portraying fantastical things in a graphic manner, but with an eye towards real life. Working as a fantasy illustrator, Sam has worked on projects such as Legend of the Five Rings, Warhammer Fantasy, Monster Hunter International, and of course The World of Uteria! Sam will be painting the cover for the Ferryport Adventures book! http://samflegal.com/
A.L. Ashbaugh - A.L.Ashbaugh is an Atlanta based Freelance Fine Artist and Illustrator. Current clients include: Fantasy Flight Games, Palladium Books, Emerald City Expeditions, and Third Eye Games. http://www.alashbaugh.com/
Melissa Gay - Melissa Gay is a Nashville illustrator whose painting style she likes to call "atmospheric realism." Her work includes book covers for Apex, Mythopoeic, and Immersion Press, the Angel Dreams Oracle deck for Hay House Publishing, and illustrations for roleplaying games such as The Dresden Files, Part-Time Gods, Mermaid Adventures, Fantasy HERO, Psi-Punk, Camp Myth, and more. melissagay.com
Lindsay Archer - Lindsay Archer is a Georgia based artist who has worked on such great titles as Dragonlance, Serenity RPG, Supernatural RPG, Metamorphosis Alpha RPG, and Battlestar Galactica RPG. http://lindsayarcher.com/
Michael Bielaczyc - Michael's work spans the fantastical to the strange. He has worked with many larger companies such as Dragonlance, Kobold Quarterly, Frog God Games as well as his own projects. http://michaelbielaczyc.com/blog/
Mitch Foust - Mitch Foust is a native Memphian and began his illustration career at age 16. He has completed illustrations for many projects including comic books, book covers, t-shirts, role playing games, and cd covers. He has also been a business owner, screen printer, art director, and freelance illustrator. Mitch is a graduate of The University of Memphis. Risks and challenges
I have published a few RPG books now, so there is not much that can hold us back. I just need the funding to help get some great art for the book!
I have set the date pretty far out, but we hope to have everything done by the Fall of 2014.Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
