This Immersive, Provocative, & Site-Specific production is a voyeuristic journey through ten lovers' most intimate escapades.
Originally written by Arthur Schnitzler in 1897 and first printed in 1900 for his closest friends, LA RONDE explores and scrutinizes the sexual morals and class ideology of its day through a series of encounters between pairs of characters (shown before or after a sexual encounter). Drawing from characters across all levels of society, the play offers social commentary on how sexual contact transgresses boundaries of class. In this production we take a look at these morals and ideologies as they reflect modern American culture.
One evening in July (18-22), you will receive instructions to show up at a certain location in Hollywood. You won't know who will be in the play, what's going to occur or where you might end up. Leave your inhibitions at home. In this site-specific pilot workshop production of LA RONDE, streets, inside of houses and places unimaginable become stages for a series of events you won't soon forget.
The small, invite-only, audience becomes a voyeur in the scenes, sometimes inches away from the performers. Utilizing storytelling through the mediums of music, dance, theater and even film, it is our goal to transport the audience literally and metaphorically through the private lives of the characters invented by Schnitzler and reinvented in 2012 Los Angeles.
Note: Donating to Kickstarter is the only way to get a ticket. The show will be built and performed just for you and a handful of other people. The number of people who donate will decide the experience. Think of it as a sexy party planned for you that only your best friends know about.
We also appreciate support from people who will be unable to attend. Your donations will go toward making the future of a Company that builds site-specific work possible.
There will also a post-show soiree directly following each performance to meet and mingle with the cast, creatives and fellow audience members. Make a friend. Take one home.
Your contributions will help secure venues, technical aspects and performer stipends for LA RONDE. Be one of the few people invited to this pilot production of a hopefully long running Los Angeles theatrical experience. The formation of a site-specific THEATRE COMPANY will be the ultimate goal of this first step. Thank you so much for supporting innovative and experimental theater in Los Angeles and beyond. In the vein of PunchDrunk Theater Company, Accomplice and other promenade theater, we will strive to blur the line between stage and audience leading the audience on an unforgettable and unmistakably unique experience.
NOTE: No Profit will be made on this production. Proceeds that exceed the production costs will be divided favored nations between each member of the Company, Creatives and Crew.
