We hit our FIRST 2 GOALS & now we're going for a 3rd: $35k!
With the extra funds, we'll be able to buy a pita oven to have fresh bread at Pomella. We'll also be selling the bread in the market so you can take it with you and enjoy it at home! Please help us get there!
And here's our story...
After a year of searching, I finally found a new location and will be re-opening Ba-Bite as "Pomella" on Piedmont Ave THIS Fall! I'm so excited to bring Israeli cuisine back to Oakland!
My name is Mica and back in 2015 we opened Ba-Bite - an Israeli restaurant - which quickly lived up to it's name and became a second home for our employees and our community.
Last year, after loss in litigation with the landlord, we were forced to close which left both me and my customers broken-hearted.
It has been a very difficult year both emotionally and financially and I've been working very hard to get my life and business back on track. But I'm finally excited to announce that I am coming back and will be opening in an amazing new location!
We'll be re-opening this Fall in the former Chow building right on Piedmont Avenue, close to MacArthur Blvd. (CAN YOU BELIEVE IT????)
The space is MUCH bigger than our last location, and we'll not only run our catering business and restaurant out of the kitchen, but we're SUPER EXCITED TO ANNOUNCE we're launching a grab-and-go MARKET as well!
Yes, we are planning to re-open BUT we need your help!!
I'm launching this Kickstarter to help me buy a hummus machine which will allow me to make 5x the amount of hummus that I do now! The machine costs $25,000 and 100% of the funds raised will go towards its purchase!
Here's a glimpse of its beauty......
And here's what I'm dealing with now.....!!
The new machine will help us keep up with your love of our hummus with greater efficiency and even better silky-smoothness! (And most importantly, it will save my sanity!!!)
WE HIT THIS GOAL!! THANK YOU!! But we have 2 weeks left. Please see our STRETCH GOALS below!
We have hit our first stretch goal! And now we are trying to raise 10k more to buy a pita oven. I've always dreamed of making my own fresh bread at Pomella and not having to buy pita from a local vendor.
If we can raise 10k, we'll be able to buy a pita oven within Pomella's first year! Please help us get there!!!

I cannot wait to be back in business and to see you all again. Thank you so much for your support!
Risks and challenges
The only challenge at this point is waiting for the renovation of the space to be completed. Originally we were planning to open in September, but it looks like construction is moving more slowly than that, so we are likely going to have to wait until October. Obviously with any renovation project delays happen, so we're prepared to have to wait longer if necessary. Either way, the project is a go - its just a matter of time before its completed!Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
