About this project

[the header photo is a preview of the book cover and not intended to imply any endorsement of the product by those pictured.]

The offseason is long and boring and devoid of interest. Occasionally printed material about college football will fall into your hands, only for you to flip to a two-page section on your favorite thing in the world. You feel so unsatisfied.

AND THEN BANG! 128 PAGES OF CONTENT WOO

THE TEAM THE TEAM THE TEAM

MGoBlog's Brian Cook fills a third of these pages with a detailed rundown of next year's team from quarterback to second-string fullback. Will the defense reload? (Parts of it, surely.) Is Brandon Peters a threat to take the QB job? (Maybe but probably not.) Can Quinn Nordin kick a ball into orbit? (SPROING!)

THE ENEMY THE ENEMY THE ENEMY

Ace Anbender previews the vile hobos who will oppose Michigan this fall. Will Florida have an offense? (Probably not!) Why schedule Air Force? (Nobody knows!) Will Michigan State be able to field a starting lineup by September? (Probably not!) And so forth and so on.

TWISTED BLUE STEEL

Adam Schnepp profiles Maurice Hurst, who will put you in his belly sooner or later. Probably sooner. Michael Elkon compares this year's Michigan roster to other teams who were very good but have to reload en masse, including last year's OSU team. Alex Cook on the Big Ten's perpetually misaligned divisions.

TECHNICAL DOSSIER

Ian Boyd breaks down the Harbaugh passing game and how Wilton Speight (probably) will grow into it in his second year. Seth Fisher explores Don Brown's hybrid-hybrid-hybrid defense and how he solves problems. (With aggression.)

TALES OF OLD BLUE

We have some doozies for you this year: Steve Sapardanis on "TOUCHDOWN BILLY TAYLOR," John Kryk on Michigan and Notre Dame's series during WWII, Greg Dooley on "Tall" Paul Goebel, the original #1, and Craig Ross on the bizarre early years of college football, when you could play four games against the top five in a week and then have to argue with the local paper over the final score.

THE SHIRT THE SHIRT THE SHIRT

This year's shirt is sure to cause any SEC head coaches you run across to fume uselessly in your general direction.

As always this is a preliminary design that will get cleaned up before the presses fire up.

THE SHIPPING THE SHIPPING THE SHIPPING

For the second straight year, Homesure Lending returns to sponsor a shipping upgrade from third class to first class. This means books should arrive days after shipping instead of weeks and allows us to keep shipping charges low.

Risks and challenges

This is the seventh year we've created this book and the last two have gone off without a hitch; we have changed nothing about our process and expect the same this year.
