About this project
The Business Plan describes in detail the opening of a family oriented Southern and Comfort food Restaurant, called Huckleberry’s Restaurant. Located in Arvada, Colorado, a city with a population of 108,208, our restaurant will be located on the corner Ralston Road and Garrison Street with the exposure of 25,000 vehicles per day. This location is the end unit of a strip mall and next to a park that is being remodeled to become the prime community center in Arvada, with the only entrance being at our front door. There is a busy bike trail behind the restaurant that provides additional foot traffic and bicycle traffic.
The current competition in Arvada consists of 148 restaurants, none of which serve Southern and Comfort food. Most of the restaurants in Arvada are limited service fast food restaurants such as McDonalds. The true competitors in our food genre are seven to thirty miles away from our proposed location.
Huckleberry’s Restaurant will be operated as “S” corporation, owned by Santa Rosa Group, Ltd. Ken Haack and Michelle Kehoe (father and daughter) are the current owners of Santa Rosa Group, Ltd., and have been in business since May, 2011. Our chef, Pete Staley, has worked in and owned restaurants for his entire life. His schooling came from a culinary institute located on the Mason Dixon Line, so he is extremely versed in Southern Style Cooking. These three people will make up the Executive Team and be the first employees of Huckleberry’s Restaurant during Phase 1 of the opening. As Phases 2 and 3 are implemented, additional staff will be hired.
Our menu will consist of twelve main entrees, and twelve rotating chef’s specials to accommodate a medley of different tastes with Creole and Cajun food. Our goal will be not only to satisfy the customer’s needs, but also to price our products reasonably. With this in mind, we will strive to keep the price of all of our meals under ten dollars.
The marketing proposal includes direct mail; advertising in the local newspaper; advertising on busses and bus stops; purchasing space on local churches’ weekly programs; and advertising on the screen during previews at a local movie theater, among other techniques.
To offer the best family-oriented Southern Restaurant in Arvada while establishing a friendly, upbeat atmosphere where patrons can escape the daily concerns of life!
In order to fund Huckleberry’s Restaurant, this proposal will be submitted to our local advisor at SCORE and to Wells Fargo Bank for consideration for the Patriot Express Loan. In addition, we will apply for SBA Loans 7(a) and 504 if needed. If our idea is approved, we could receive up to 90% of restaurant build out and operating costs in loans. The remainder of the costs will be covered by Santa Rosa Group, Ltd. through fundraising and community stock share purchases.
