What comes next
The Palate Deck Kickstarter campaign wraps up on Friday afternoon. Realistically, it doesn't seem likely that it will be successfully funded at this time. And while that's unfortunate, it's not the end of this project!
My intent now is to continue the self-publishing route by making copies of the Palate Deck available for direct purchase from the website at some point in the future.
Without Kickstarter funding, manufacturing costs are now a big hurdle to overcome. Getting the first run into print will require adjusting timelines and volumes, and possibly even finding different vendors who can fulfill smaller orders (but at higher cost).
Another option might be partnering with a distribution company that can handle some of the logistics of a larger print run in order to put the Palate Deck on store shelves.
In short: it's going to take a lot more work. I can't predict right now when it might be available, or even what it will cost. If you'd like to follow along with future progress and be notified when the Palate Deck is available to buy, make sure to sign up for the newsletter.
I expect this to be the final update on Kickstarter, so I'd like to once again thank you, all of you, for your support in funding and promoting this project.
It may not have worked out the way I hoped, but seeing hundreds of backers making a significant dent in the funding goal has been really encouraging, and tells me there's interest in this idea.
All I can do now is try again and find a new angle for launching this project. So, one last time, thank you!
